Moderators Gerr Posted June 24, 2012 Moderators Posted June 24, 2012 I have said this before. But it is worthy of saying it again. I practice sin. But I also hate sin and desire not to do it. It is also my practice - that when I do the sin that I hate - I repent and PLEAD with God to give me the power NOT to sin. So far - He has not answered my prayer. Thus - my sins are on HIS head - not mine. Folks - we of ourselves CAN NOT resist sin. All we can do is ask HIM for the power to overcome. And when HE does not come through - we have to just accept the thorn in the flesh that He desires for us. 1prac•tice also prac•tise \ˈprak-təs\ verb prac•ticed also prac•tised; prac•tic•ing also prac•tis•ing [Middle English practisen, from Middle French practiser, from Medieval Latin practizare, alteration of practicare, from practica practice, noun, from Late Latin practice, from Greek praktikē, from feminine of praktikos] verb transitive 14th century 1 a : CARRY OUT, APPLY 〈practice what you preach〉 b : to do or perform often, customarily, or habitually 〈practice politeness〉 c : to be professionally engaged in 〈practice medicine〉 2 a : to perform or work at repeatedly so as to become proficient 〈practice the act〉 b : to train by repeated exercises 〈practice pupils in penmanship〉 3 obsolete : PLOT verb intransitive 1 : to do repeated exercises for proficiency 2 : to pursue a profession actively 3 archaic : INTRIGUE 4 : to do something customarily 5 : to take advantage of someone 〈he practised on their credulity with huge success —Times Lit. If by 'I practice sin', you mean that you are repeatedly and intentionally sinning in order to become more proficient, I can guarantee you from the Word of God that you would have no hope of eternal life. Moderators Gerr Posted June 24, 2012 Moderators Posted June 24, 2012 Gerry, Really on the sin not unto death I find only God will be the ultimate judge of that. Example, You are chopping with an axe and the head flies off and kills your young son. Did you or did you not know the axe head was loose and would be a danger if any others were around. On another hand you knew the axe head was loose but was not an awake enough person to realize the danger of it. We may not recognize the extent of our guilt but God will square it up in the judgment and our knee will bow and confess he is right true and just. We are held responsible for what we understand and what we shoud've and could've understood. But at what point did our failure cause a sin not unto death. Anyway His Spirit will cause one to have grief over it and sorrow, or it should. He says some are everlearning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Of course, we will be sorrowful even for sins that we may not be held accountable for, especially if it hurts someone. Friend, you can love your neighbor, but it will never equal the height and depth and breadth of God's love for that neighbor. But when you genuinely love your fellow human being, no matter how far it falls short of God's love, He will count it as fulfilling the law. Rom 13:10 That's good news. Quote
Gibs Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 Gerry, That is stretching it I think if you get into it seriously. If Jesus hadn't fulfilled it by keeping it He would have failed. Love fulfills the law when that love is the transcript of you as it was of Him. Then you fulfill it and it is the only natural thing you would do. If you truly love Him then that is your love too. For to love Him is to love the total of the law for it is His Love. It all boils down, 1Jo 2:3 ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. So we see obedience can only come from true love. Love begets obedience. That's the good news as all filled with His Love know Him, Love Him, follow Him and do His complete will as our will is become His Will. Make your will His will in all things and you are well on the right road. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
