CoAspen Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 They say.....hmmmm.... kind of an easy way out! How much weight would a 'they say' carry on any subject, not a mystery! Quote: Unfortunately, I have a growing list of non-Adventists who look at what WO supporters are doing here, and they won't even come to our church because of it. Yes, that is unfortunate they some people do not want all of the 'facts' so that they can make an informed opinion. If someone doesn't want to come to an SDA church because of the WO issue, there is whole list of other churches they would not be happy in either. Useing that as a reason would seem to say that there may not be a 'perfect church' in existence, as one could always find an issue to disagree about, we are human are we not? Quote

Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 5, 2012 Administrators Posted June 5, 2012 Moderator Note: The topic is the Columbia Union Special Session, women in ministry and women's ordination. It is NOT about each other. When we become the point of discussion the topic gets derailed. That is unacceptable. The personal sniping and rude remarks must cease. I have edited out the latest round of ad hominem exchanges. For those who are tired of this topic, there are hundreds of other topics on which you can better spend your time. Nobody is forcing you to even read this, much less participate. But one's lack of interest or distaste for a topic should in no way stand in the way of those who DO wish to continue the discussion. Just quietly bow out and move on to something else. Even so, any substantive contribution will always be welcome, regardless of which side of the discussion it may fall. Woody Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Question: Is there anything, administratively, that the president and the GC can do to stop this move towards ordaining women? You are asking if there is anything those agencies can do to stop the will of God? Shameful. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. And they have been for the better part of 50+ years. Don't recall once in all my years being an adventist that women have not been "needed in the great work of preaching the truth." If someone can give us a link to where women have not been a part of the three angels message, that being preached throughout the world, I'd like to see that! thanks in advance. Because in each church I've been a part of women have been doing most of the work not men! Moderators lazarus Posted June 5, 2012 Author Moderators Posted June 5, 2012 The question asked was a legitimate one. My guess is that Ted Wilson is getting emails, calls and letters suggesting, encouraging and even demanding that he do something. What can he do? Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Overaged Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Okay then; to illustrate the point, your question re "What can he do?" Should we also class that as "amateur dramatics?" This is one of my concerns. WO suporters are finding it hard to resist such personal labels regarding those who disagree with them...when is it going to stop is my first question. Moderators lazarus Posted June 5, 2012 Author Moderators Posted June 5, 2012 Amateur dramatics was in reference to Woody's notion that my question was shameful. My question was not rhetorical or sarcastic. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Members phkrause Posted June 5, 2012 Members Posted June 5, 2012 Good point! And very few of them were ordained pastors... And that was my point to Woody's post! And I'd say none were ordained and as I've mentioned on previous posts, none cared one hoot about being ordained. Again I'll have no problem if it happens. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 7, 2012 Administrators Posted June 7, 2012 Overaged, since you are so fond of this strawman observation, maybe you can answer my question. Who exactly is demanding a position for themselves? Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."
