You see in the future, when the Remnant is formed, the Sabbath will be a sign of justification by faith. Those who restore the gospel will rest in Christ's finished works.

Oh, I see. So you don't believe in the inspiration of Ellen White's words then? Ellen White was legalist? Ok, then why did you quote her at all?

Robert is correct. We cannot improve on what Christ did 2000 years ago. His take on Ellen White should not be in the picture.

I quote a lot of legalists.

Why you may ask?

Because even legalists have a good understanding of other issues. I don't know of ANYone who knows correctly about ALL issues. Many such as Ellen White were born legalists but then received the wonderful message of Grace.

So - just because Ellen White was born a legalist - we should stop quoting her wonderful messages from God?

I think not.

Really all must now realize that the time of forgiveness of sin soon is to come to an abdrupt end. Overaged - I don't care much for your religion either. I prefer the God that I know.

But I would die for the right that you have to believe what you want to believe.

I wish you and Gibs nothing but the best with your religion.

Praise God we are are different and each has a different glimpse of God. And each is allowed to have different preferences.

Address yourself, Gibs. You live Christ's life and then I'll listen. Until then it's hypocritical.

You know I feel sorry for you...you have no peace...no assurance, just work, work, work. It's in vain....

Gibs actually seems to have more peace in his heart than most of us. he is the only one in this thread who talks about victory in Jesus!! How come nobody else talks about that here? After all; the Bible is clear that God does have requirements of us. Say what you want but it's there.

I beg to differ. I see Rob talking about "victory in Jesus". But the way I read Rob - he has a different definition of 'victory' than you or I might.

From what I've read in Robs posts - he raises up the victory of Jesus to obtain salvation for each of us. And our victory in this life is to stay connected to Jesus and thus have eternal life through the victory of Jesus. Staying connected to Jesus is really the victory that each needs. For by doing that we get the greatest reward.

Rob is right on.

I pray that we don't have to think that OUR religion is the only way to Christ. We should not be condemning our fellow brethren just because they don't articulate their faith as we might prefer.

Go for it Rob. I am blessed by your posts. Do not be discouraged by these kinds of comments from others.

I don't buy this one bit. You are an Adventist. I am an Adventist. The Spirit of Prophecy was given to the Church, and we ought to TAKE it. I should have EVERY RIGHT to quote it to an Adventist, and we ought to GRAPPLE with it, and not try to WIGGLE OUT OF IT.

The biggest copout with lukearm, limpwristed, nauseating, milk-and-cheese-eating Laodicean Adventism in this day and age is... "oh, there you go again with Ellen White! Focus on Jeesssus!"

JEEESSSUUSS! (sorry, I'm not feeling the "looove!")

Will we stop it? I mean it! Let's stop it! Let's STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS!

You guys are SDA's, and we are to MOVE ON TO PERFECTION!!

"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God!!!!" (Hebrews 6:1)

Those quotes were given to SAVE OUR SOULS!

The cross of Christ is the first step! But now it's time GO UNTO perfection as Paul says. Are we children that we must feed on MILK all the time? It's time for MEAT!

What is happening? Am I talking to Evangelicals in here who can't hear the words of the Spirit of Prophecy given to God's last-day Church??

No wonder we're still here! No wonder Jesus can't come! Because people just can't handle the SOP statements. It's too hot for them!

They don't have what it takes!

I am just saying that it is wrong to condemn someone because they don't believe as we do. "Moving on to perfection" has nothing to do with setting others straight and winning a religious debate with them. "Being perfect;" in my opinion would involve treating them like human beings and being glad they are even with us and willing to discuss the Bible & Jesus.

Overaged,

Robert, as I understand it, claims to be an SDA, and he even quoted several EGW statements to try and "prove" his point.

I in turn simply responded with MORE EGW statements, and then he yells "legalism!"

Very strange. Weird.

Some people just don't make sense these days I guess. It's like they are losing their reasoning powers.

I don't know about you Overaged, but I enjoy talking with people who actually make sense.

Unfortunately "I" am the only one who stands up for Truth here. Goodness - how silly does that sound. Yet from reading some of these threads - that's the impression one would get.

Each person here and in the world - has a little different slant on his or her religion. We should respect that. Disagree as we like - but allow and gain insight as we might from what read.

I used to have a legalist as a pastor. I was still blessed by his sermons. If only through correcting in my mind - all of the error that he preached.

So each of us can be blessed by the other. Even error can help us to grow.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Thats really interesting in light of the very clear condemnation you provided above for Gibs & I

Just for clarification:

When I say I don't "care" for something - it does not mean that I "condemn" it. It means I don't "care" for it.

This is a problem here on the forum. Some like to push buttons and make drama where there is none.

Stick to the definition of the words and don't try to see the worst in people OA.

Each person here should be able to express preferences. And my preference is to not believe in the religion that you have Gibs have --- OA.

I will state it again - I don't CARE for the religion that you and Gibs have. You may care for it - I don't. And it is my right to have that preference.

It is in no way a dig on your preference. It is a statement of MINE.

Now - Let's get back to the business of praising God as JoeMo so well expresses.

Praise Be the Lord.

Because some of her quotes agree with the Bible...I quote Ellen because I hope you will listen to her, but then you take her "other" statements and make what I quote void.

I'm a Christian....Non-denominational. I have a leaning towards Adventism, but I don't buy everything. Many Adventists are into a subtle form of legalism. I can't say anything about others Christians, although they do have some weird conspiracy theories going on.

I do notice a little admiration society going on here and that is fine. But on this statement by Jesus,

Mt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

I notice some quibble about what perfect means. Well perfect is one of the words used to state what the original tongue meant. Here is the meaning of the Greek as translated "perfect"

teleios tel'-i-os

from 5056; complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character, etc.); neuter (as noun, with 3588) completeness:--of full age, man, perfect.

Now a little scripture sermon for us,

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Eph 4:17 ¶ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Eph 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Eph 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Eph 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
