hch Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Rev 13 is an end-time scenario and therefore understandable to end-time audiences but may NOT be so to the first century audiences. Verse 18 does not say all who read Rev 13 can understand it. In fact it only asks those with "insight" to do the calculation. Though Revelation was sealed (verified) by God's authority, Revelation was never a sealed (closed) book. "Some of the scenes depicted in this prophecy [Revelation] are in the past, some are now taking place [present]; some bring to view the close of the great conflict [future] between the powers of darkness and the Prince of heaven, and some reveal the triumphs and joys of the redeemed in the earth made new." {AA 584.1} Quote His child Henry Bible student/Author https://www.loudcry101.com
8thdaypriest Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I posted this under the "Cleansing of the Sanctuary" thread, but I think it might better have been posted here. So here goes. In Daniel Cpt 8, we have the ram vs goat (from the West), and "four horns" coming up on the goat, and a "little horn" coming up on one of the four (which means the four horns are still there, and so is the goat). In Daniel Cpt 7, we have "four beasts" and one of them has 10 horns, and then a "little horn" comes up among the 10 uprooting 3, leaving 8 horns. (So this Beast still HAS 7 horns in the final picture.) I personally believe that the visions are ONE. The "four horns" and the "four beasts" represent the SAME prophecy. An the "little horn" is the same entity in BOTH visions. 8:9 The "little horn" exalted himself high as the Prince of Host (v.11) by him the daily was taken away, (So - Christ did not take away "the daily" when He died.) by him the Sanctuary was cast down, by him the host were trampled (v.24) The QUESTION: For how long? How long will this little horn power desecrate the Sanctuary, and trample the host? The ANSWER: unto 2300 evening/morning. THEN: The Sanctuary will be “cleansed”, justified, restored to its rightful state. It looks to me like the Sanctuary is restored to a "cleansed" state by the end of the 2300 evening/morning. 8:26 Seal up the vision of the evenings and mornings. That vision was SEALED !! But when is it opened for understanding ? Adventists say it was opened in 1798, which they say, began the "time of the end". Adventists say the 2300 evening/morning came to an END on October 22nd, 1844. But we don't even understand what "the daily" represents (in this prophecy), so how can we believe that it has been taken away already? Daniel 11:4 “seal the book”. Book is sealed until the time of the end. Daniel 11:9 “the words are sealed until the time of the end”. Quote 8thdaypriest
8thdaypriest Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 So WHEN is the "time of the end" ?? Personally, I think the "time, times and a part', 1260 days, 42 months, (that period of time) seems a better candidate for "the time of the end" - the time leading up to the END. I know that Adventists interpreted the prophecy of the 1260 as ENDING in back in 1798, when the Pope was taken captive. The Pope's captivity did NOT end the Papacy, or the Roman Catholic Church. Adventists say this was the "deadly wound" for "the beast". But the 1260 days (time-times-and a part, 42 months) END with the heavenly court scene, and with dominion given to Christ and His saints. That time period does not END with the "deadly wound". The healing of the "deadly wound" is what BEGINS that time period. Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" 5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Rev 13:3 NKJ) "The deadly wound was healed". THEN "he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. During this 42 months, "it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them" FOR 42 months (1260 days, time-times-and a part). This is just what it says in Daniel, about the "little horn". He speaks pompous words" (7:11). He "was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them UNTIL the judgment came down in favor of the saints (7:22). "The saints shall be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time." The period of their persecution ENDS with the judgment of the heavenly "court". Now - someone might argue that the court will sit at the beginning of the 1260 days. I would consider that argument. More likely, the "appointed times" tell us WHEN the "court" of judgment will sit. That "appointed time" would be the "Day of Atonement". Rachel Cory, prophecyviewpoint.com JoeMo 1 Quote 8thdaypriest
hch Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 There are two excellent short (relatively)studies that I would recommend to better understand why the "daily" is paganism. The first one is by FC Gilbert , a converted Jew well versed in the Hebrew language. http://www.gospel-herald.com/fc_gilbert/ha_tamid.htm The other study, by Eugene Prewitt an Adventist author and lecturer. http://www.bibledoc.org/daniel-class/daniel-8-and-the-daily-2/ Thanks Jackson, Do you have anything more up-to-date? 8thdaypriest Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 THE DAILY Daniel 8:11 "He [the little horn] even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down." (NKJ) Daniel 8:13 "Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, "How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?" (NKJ) ANSWER: 2300 evening/mornings. The daily sacrifices were offered morning and evening. That is WHY the translators chose to insert the word "sacrifices" - just help Westerners understand. Daniel 11:31 "And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (NKJ) So defiling the Temple is tied to taking away "the daily". Both are tied to the Temple. "The daily" is "tamiyd", # 08548. It means "the continual". The LORD commanded that the fire on the brazen alter in the courtyard should never go out. It was to burn continuously. And the morning and evening sacrifice was to be offered daily and continually, on that continual fire - symbolizing the continual covering of the atonement for Israel. Leviticus 6:8 "Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 9 'Command Aaron and his sons, saying,`This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. 10 `And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen trousers he shall put on his body, and take up the ashes of the burnt offering which the fire has consumed on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. 11 `Then he shall take off his garments, put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12 `And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings." (NKJ) So - "all night until morning" and then again each morning. The "continual" was the continual fire on the Alter in the Courtyard. I do NOT believe that his was "paganism". Besides - Catholicism is just baptized paganism - sun worship, idols and all. It did NOT "replace" paganism. I believe these prophecies concerning "the daily" CANNOT/WILL NOT be fulfilled until the very last days. I believe the city of Jerusalem will be destroyed (probably by an Islamic bomb). A command will be issued to rebuild Jerusalem. He (the little horn) will make a covenant with the Jews for seven years, which will include the rebuilding of the Temple. Halfway thru the "week" he will break this covenant, and set himself up in the Temple. He will put an end to the sacrifices - thus taking away "the daily". These will be signs for those who understand, telling them that the last "time, times, and a part" have begun. This will inspire the 2 witnesses, who will begin their testimony. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in The Temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The Roman Caesars claimed divine authority, but no Pope (far as I know) claimed to actually BE GOD. The only person who was allowed to sit, in the Temple court was the anointed Son of David (the King). The fact that this coming "son of perdition" "sits as God in the Temple of God" says only one thing. He is claiming to be the Son of David - the Messiah - Christ returned !! THIS is the abomination that causes desolation. JoeMo 1 Quote 8thdaypriest
Samie Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 . . . In my mind, the Papacy could not take away the "daily" if it were the Christian Sanctuary Service. The Papacy could only "think" to take it away. But Daniel does not say "think" here so the "daily" was actually taken away, which is in harmony with the idea that the Papacy replaced Pagan Rome with a false Christianity ,i.e., paganism replaced by the abomination that leads to desolation . . . Speaking of the abomination of desolation, the Master Teacher referred to the book of Daniel. The Master Teacher explained that the setting up of the AoD will trigger the fulfillment of the great tribulation = the time of trouble, the occurrence of which God will shorten or no flesh will remain alive at the Second Coming, which will cap the unusual celestial phenomena immediately following the great tribulation (see Matt 24:15-31). If as you said the AoD was set up in 1798 AD then the great tribulation would have likewise occurred by then. So what tribulation occurred circa 1798 that was so great God had to shorten it or no flesh remains alive? brotherly love 1 Quote

Rachel Cory, prophecyviewpoint.com I wanted to mention that Jews, since ancient times, have believed that God judges during the 10 days from Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets) to Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). All of the confessed sins are then put onto the scapegoat on Yom Kippur. The Jews call those days - "The days of awe". Quote 8thdaypriest
8thdaypriest Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Muslims have killed more human beings than the RCC ever killed - a significant portion of them by beheading. And if you're looking for a "deadly wound" for Isalm, the defeat of the Ottoman Empire would qualify. And who does this religion target - Jews and Christians. They mean to wipe Jews and Christians from the earth - by force!!! Islam is the fastest growing religion worldwide. I looks like the Beast is stirring (or at least the counterfeit Beast). His technique uses the Spirit of prophecy incorrectly IMHO. If he used the Bible to make the point and then supplemented it with the Spirit of Prophecy, he would come to a right conclusion. But his technique that I observed has made the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy contradict each other and that is not sound Bible study. I don't recall the specific study, but after seeing it, I never watched him again. If you know your Bible and you diligently check his presentation, you might find a blessing in it. The down side is that it is difficult to see our own biases and predispositions. But I have no ill will, against President Obama, I'm just sharing the Bible as I read it. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong. I'd like that very much. But if I allowed my own understanding to have sway when confronted with a clear thus saith the Lord, it would not be a blessing to anyone.
