Here's what Scriptures say about the "time of wrath" at the "time of the end"?

NIV Romans 2:

5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.  6 God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.  8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

From the Bible, when will God through Christ reward each person according to what each has done?

NIV Matthew 16:27   For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

NIV Revelation 22:12   "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.

The Second Coming concerns the time of the end (see Matt 24:14).

By the way Samie, it is very nice to meet you!!

If you are willing to take a step back, you should be able to see the mistake you have made. You have made the phrase "day of God's wrath" and a "time of the end" mean the same thing outside of context.

Context defines words, phrases and sentences.

Where are the Medes, Persians or Greeks in Romans chapter 2?

Not outside of context, brother: just allowing Scripture to explain itself (Isa 28:10). You seemed to have missed out some texts in Daniel 8 that tells you Dan 8:17 & 19's time of the end is the same "end" our Lord referred to in Matt 24:14, 15.

Daniel 8:23-25   23 "In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a stern-faced king, a master of intrigue, will arise.  24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men and the holy people.  25 He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.

From Scriptures, this stern-faced king is easily identified as the beast of Rev 13 = the little horn king of Dan 7= the vile-person king of Dan 11 = the man of sin of 2 Thes 2.

Comparison of the stern-faced king of Dan 8:23 with the beast of Revelation 13

1. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. v24a

Revelation 13:2   And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority

2. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. v24b

Rev  13:4-6  Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?  5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

3. He will destroy the mighty men and the holy people. v24c

Revelation 13:7    And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

4. He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. v25

Rev 13: 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

5. He will take his stand against the Prince of princes. v26b

Revelation 17:13-14   13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.  14 These shall make war with the Lamb . . .

Revelation 19:19   And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

7.  But not by human power.

Revelation 17:14  . . . These shall make war with the Lamb and the Lamb shall overcome them:

From Scriptures, these exploits of the stern-faced king of Dan 8:23 will transpire around the Second Coming:

NKJ 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4   1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,  2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.  3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,  4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

The reason you see the similarity is because it is similar, and this is why Jesus spoke the words concerning the coming Roman persecution against the saints and the destruction of Jerusalem. It is the prophesy that would show many people that Jesus was who He said He was-He hung His prophetic hat on the upcoming persecution of the saints and the destruction of Jerusalem. The dragon would be injured (by Jesus's first advent) and would come in fury against the people of God

Rome is not the fourth beast, but Jesus used the Antiochan persecution to describe, what happened in the past was going to happen again in a generation

1.The first problem you will encounter is found in Daniel chapter 7. Jesus is ascending to the Ancient of days in the first advent, and this happens some time after the fourth beast is destroyed-not during it. The first advent happened precisely after the kingdoms of the north and south were taken over by Rome. This is the subject being dealt with in Daniel 11:45+

2.The second problem you will encounter is the 4 kingdoms that would rule covenant Israel are given in succession. Persia defeats Babylon, Greece defeats Persia, and out of Greece comes four kingdoms, and 2 out of the four are noted because they occupy and rule covenant Israel. Seleucid (northern) and Ptolemic (southern) regimes which emerged from the four-way split of the Macedonian Empire.  Out of these 2 breakaway kingdoms from Greece comes the little horn. If you add Rome, the ottoman empire or the papacy you will have to go back to problem #1. Other than Rome, none of these kingdoms ruled covenant Israel because it did not exist after the temple was destroyed and the people were led into exile. It cant be practiced as instructed by Torah without the institutions given by torah

3. The beast in revelation is not the fourth beast of Daniel because it gives the description of the three beasts in Daniel in reverse order of those in Daniel

Daniel 7

1. first was like a lion

2. a second, like to a bear

3. like a leopard

Revelation 13

3. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard,

2. and his feet were as the feet of a bear,

1. and his mouth as the mouth of a lion:

4. In the book of Daniel it describes the fourth beast as being different than the other kingdoms described previous to it.

Daniel 7

It was different from all the beasts that preceded it

Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was different from all the rest,

If the beast of revelation is the same beast of Daniel, it would not be different than the beasts in Daniel because it is described with the same attributes

Not quite, according to the Bible itself. The little horn-king of Dan 7 will war against the saints until the saints possess the kingdom:

NKJ Daniel 7:21-22   21 "I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them,  22 "until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.

According to Jesus, the possessing of the kingdom by the saints is at the Second Coming:

NKJ Matthew 25:31-34  31 " When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.  32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.  33 "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.  34 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Also, Dan 11:45+ deals with the Second Coming. Since v45 is the last verse of Dan 11, "Dan 11:45+" would include Dan 12:1, 2:

Daniel 12:1-2  1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book.  2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

. . . 3. The beast in revelation is not the fourth beast of Daniel

And the beast of Rev 13 = the little horn king of Dan 7, NOT the fourth beast.

Yes, the little horn is Antoichus Epiphanese IV, who waged war against the saints and then the saints possessed the kingdom. This is called the Hasmonean dynasty that came from this conflict

1 beast Babylon

2nd beast Media

3rd beast Persia

4th beast Greek Hellenism

First ruler Alexander the Great

his empire split into 4 Greek kingdoms and Antiochus came out of one of them

Scriptures teach that the little horn king will make war with the saints until the Second Coming and will stand against the Prince of Princes.

NLT Daniel 8:25 He will be a master of deception and will become arrogant; he will destroy many without warning. He will even take on the Prince of princes in battle, but he will be broken, though not by human power.

Antiochus lived and died even before Christ - the Prince of Princes - was born on earth. Antiochus can't possibly be the little horn king of Dan 7.

And the beast of Rev 13 = the little horn king of Dan 7, NOT the fourth beast.

The little horn comes out of the fourth beast

“After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.

The horns are part of the fourth beast.

This is stated again

“Then I wished to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet; 20 and the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.

And again

23 “Thus he said:

The fourth beast shall be
A fourth kingdom on earth,
Which shall be different from all other kingdoms,
And shall devour the whole earth,
Trample it and break it in pieces.
24 The ten horns are ten kings
Who shall arise from this kingdom.
And another shall rise after them;

Precisely, After the persecution of Antiochus the Jewish people had control over the kingdom, and the rest of chapter 11:45+ is about the fall of the king of the north and south by the Romans...then Jesus came. This is the thrust of Daniel 7, and Jesus ascends into the ancient of days after the 4th beast is destroyed-this is not Antiochus, but the Greek kingdom that he comes out of.

“I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.

Daniel 12:1-2  1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. Daniel 12 is not about the second coming and final consummation, it is about the then coming persecution of antiochus Epiphanese, and promises resurrection for those who overcome and remain faithful.

The context is the same situation as the rest of Daniel

10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. 11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days

The text also promises Daniel eternal life for being faithful

13 “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”

So, can you prove of anyone resurrected during the persecution by Antiochus?

Daniel 12 is not about the second coming and final consummation, it is about the then coming persecution of antiochus Epiphanese, and promises resurrection for those who overcome and remain faithful.

If the resurrection was promised only for the faithful during the persecution by Antiochus, then why these verses?

Daniel 12:

1  And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The time of trouble in Dan 12:1 = the great tribulation in Matt 24:21. So Jesus was also "PROPHESYING" about the persecution by Antiochus that happened more than a century in the past?

Sorry I made a generalization by applying the resurrection to just the saints, of course it applies to both believer and unbeliever, but the promises of everlasting life are promised to the faithful.

In context this was given in both believer and unbeliever terms in order to warn of the coming deception that would occur in the church of the Old Testament. I used to believe in a sunday law, but in reality persecution comes to who you are identified with-not a day you identify with, In the case of Antiochus he and the rebel Jews killed and tortured those who identified with God in any way-circumcision, the Torah was burned and was illegal by decree of death, the feast days, the sacrifice, the preisthood was bought out-every aspect of God was illegal by death.

This was the eternal reward promised also to Daniel for being faithful

13 But you, go your way,and rest; you shall rise for your reward at the end of the days.”

Jesus was using the tribulation of antiochus in order to point to a future tribulation that would happen in a generation. That is why Matthew and Mark use the term abomination of desolation and other indicators to a target Jewish audience who would know what He was referring to. Luke does not include these terms because he was targeting a non Jewish audience who would not be familiar with this past event.

It would have been if a person prophesied 'when you see haman in Germany" run away (let the reader understand)

Now I do not doubt the correctness of the AD 27 date, and yet many historians [today it is “most” historians] do not believe that “the 15th year” was AD 27. There ARE reasonable objections to some of our prophetic teachings, and it worth being aware of these, so that when those objections are raised we don’t simply resort to contempt because we have no rational answers to give...Legally, and for all practical purposes, Tiberius was Emperor over the province of Judea, even while Augustus was still living. His reign began in AD 12, and so the 15th year of Tiberius was indeed AD 27.

Thanks for beginning this thread Stewart.

I completely agree with your post thus far. 27 AD is a valid way mark in this prophecy.

But I believe that there is something missing in this discussion of Daniel 9 that is very important. If our understanding stops here, we will miss a blessing.

Thanks for your response.

Can you give any comment regarding this chart ?

It is just a chart someone has put together with a certain belief and viewpoint. The New Testament does not claim or quote the bones of this chart.

Can you substantiate your comment with verses from Scriptures, both Old & New Testaments, that goes against with what are in the chart?

In this chart, the celestial phenomena is followed by the Second Coming, as stipulated in Jesus' words in Matt 24:29, 30. Do you have basis from the Bible why you said:

And by the way, the New Testament long preceded the chart, so it can't really quote from the chart. But I took your statement to mean the chart is not in accord with what the New Testament says, hence I asked the above.

The celestial phenomena is the coming of Jesus in judgment on apostate Israel, just like the judgement on Babylon, Edom, Ninevah, Israel in the Old Testament. The sign that the Son of Man is in Heaven and not a false prophet was when His prophesy against Jerusalem came true one generation later. That is why the beginning chapters of Revelation has Jesus entering Heaven to take His throne.

From your post, it appears that the celestial phenomena is followed by Jesus entering Heaven. But Jesus said the celestial phenomena will be followed by His coming back to earth (Matt 24:29, 30). Apostle Paul talked about this by mentioning the Lord's coming as descending from heaven, not ascending to heaven (1 Thes 4:15, 16).

Any explanation?

Let scripture interpret scripture is my explanation. These are the quotes that jesus gave in the olivet discourse-not myself

The tribes of the land will mourn in Matt 24 a quotes Zech 12:10-12

10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. 11 On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, 13 the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, 14 and all the rest of the clans and their wives.

the term "they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory" quotes Daniel 7:13-14

“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,[a]coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Notice that Jesus is ascending to the ancient of days BUT is also coming with the clouds of Heaven. Coming in the clouds was a judgement metaphor used by the prophets when judgment was pending. This is why the sign of the son of man was in Heaven would be him coming in the clouds of judement

Remember this is bookmarked by "Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened"

Jesus also gave the same words of judgment to the Sanhedrin who condemned Him.  Did they see Jesus coming on the clouds? No. They seen the Roman armies come in Gods judgment because this was judgement metaphor

Mathew 26:64

64 “You have said so,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.[e]

65 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. 66 What do you think?”

KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Is this the Second Advent as well?

No, it is the coming in judgement on Jerusalem. if you are to understand that the bible is written for us, but not written to us, then this passage will emergew from the fog of speculation.

Paul was addressing the problem that people were saying that the Lord had already come, and the historical situation given here is that of the Emperor Caligula. He made a statue of himself to be placed in the Temple, and the only thing that stopped it was his death. This was not yet the coming of the Lord in judgment on Jerusalem. Paul tells the people that the holy Spirit was holding this back-but it was coming.

What would happen though is the emperor Nero would come and persecute the saints, and after he committed suicide, then the destruction of Jerusalem would come.

The church was in a type of exodus, waiting for the fulfillment of Jesus's words-that is also why the book of revelation is written with Jesus as a type of Moses, and the exodus is a thread thru the whole book
