I second that. This is really, really getting irritating.

Robert and Gerry -- I don't mean to be a shrew but for crying out loud, put a freaking sock in it already. Go start a thread of YOUR OWN to hash this garbage out. It's the SAME argument you two have been hijacking nearly EVERY thread with ANY kind of spiritual discussion on it to have since I've been on this site and probably long before. It is time to call it quits.

I say either BOTH of you go sell ALL your possessions and start a Homeless Experience Blog somewhere ELSE to discuss your experience -- or else SHUT UP ALREADY ABOUT THE "SELL ALL THAT YOU HAVE" argument. It is OLD, it has been DONE TO DEATH, and I can't think of ONE SINGLE PERSON ON THIS ENTIRE SITE that wants to see you two have it out YET AGAIN except perhaps YOURSELVES.

STOP IT ALREADY.

NO ONE CARES.

My apologies to all. I'm done with this thread.

Gerry, I don't think you have anything to apologize about. I perceive that you have been sincere, and have wanted to accomplish good. That is nothing to apologize for. As for being able to carry on a rational discussion with all parties, I am reminded of Jesus' words, "Wisdom is known by her children."

Yeah I really didn't think Gerry was the instigator either.

It's irritating because you won't accept that you are UNLIKE Christ....Your love is 180 degrees out with respect to His love. Your love is conditional...it is self-seeking, not Christ's!

Do I expect you guys to be selfless? No...YOU CAN'T do it, neither will you because you justify self-love. Lucky for all of you we are justified by Christ's work some 2000 years ago.

I push this issue because of the legalists among us. As long as they insist believers adhere to certain rules in return for heaven, I'll insist that they live Christ's life because His life answers ALL the law.

If you don't want me to bring this issue up, then Gerry and his merry band of legalists needs to stop pushing their works trip on me. It's that simple.

That's not the issue and you DARN well known it!

The issue is if a person lived selflessly in this world, based on the principle of self-seeking, he or she would become destitute. Christ's selfless life proved this.

You are quite mistaken, because as a person lives selflessly, then God continues to bless him or her in so many ways. The more a person gives, the more God gives to that person, until he or she becomes a channel of blessing, linking heaven with this world.

But, no, I am not going to continue to post on this thread, either. I simply don't recall seeing the above thought posted by anyone, so wanted to mention it. And , yes, I have had some personal experience in this matter, so can speak from that perspective.

That's your opinion, and as far as I'm concerned, you're wrong. You are also wrong to go around judging everyone who isn't homeless as being unChristlike and accusing them of being selfish just because they aren't homeless. You have an unrealistic view of what it means to live in Christ, and you want to push that on everyone else. I don't accept it, but more to the point, I'm tired of you hijacking every thread and derailing it to your little hobby horse. Go start a thread of your own to rant all you like about your "idee fixee" and let people have spiritual discussions on other topics in peace. PLEASE?

Typical legalistic view.....That's just how the rich young ruler saw things. It was the Jewish mentality of that day, i.e., a rich man is a good man blessed of God because of his obedience!

Besides, if I give to get I am being selfish. That's why the disciples gave all their possessions away. See Matt 19:27

  • As the young man turned away, Jesus said to His disciples, "How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God." These words astonished the disciples. They had been taught to look upon the rich as the favorites of heaven; worldly power and riches they themselves hoped to receive in the Messiah's kingdom; if the rich were to fail of entering the kingdom, what hope could there be for the rest of men?….[EGW]

Then you are not being honest!

Luke 6:27 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Robert, you just hit my prayer list. Because after I got done laughing, I realized what it meant that you could make such a statement.

Robert you can think whatever nonsense you like about me. Doesn't make it the truth any more than my thinking you are purple with pink polka dots makes it true. You have absolutely no power, position, or "right" whatsoever to dictate what is real about me and what is not. End of story.

The point is, you keep hijacking every discussion on the board in this direction and it is neither welcome nor appreciated. Please go set up your own thread to discuss this issue, and stop derailing everyone else's onto it. I think I'm not alone when I say it is annoying and tedious. No one is disputing your right to believe these things if you wish or even your right to discuss them. But when you hijack every thread in this direction, you are not being considerate of the needs and feelings of others regarding what they would like to discuss. Your choice -- I can't force you to do what's right -- I'm just letting you know.

Then keep ignoring those things that don't agree with your own preconceived positions.

The whole issue of the Great Controversy is over this agape love. Hence, we must face this issue head on.

Dear Ben. I would like to respond, but any response is neutered without God's written authority. What good is the opinion of man apart from truth?

Your scenario reminds me of Mark Littleton's short story "The man who wanted a little bit of everything."

Backward Christian Soldiers

1. Backward Christian soldiers,

Fleeing from the fight,

With the cross of Jesus,

Nearly out of sight.

Christ our rightful master

Stands against the foe

Onward into battle, we

seem afraid to go.

Chorus: Backward Christian soldiers,

Fleeing from the fight,

With the cross of Jesus,

Nearly out of sight.

2. Like a might tortoise

Moves the church of God.

Brothers we are treading,

Where we’ve often trod.

We are much divided,

Many bodies we,

Having different doctrines, but

Not much charity.

3. Crowns and thrones may perish,

Kingdoms rise and wane,

But the cross of Jesus

Hidden does remain.

Gates of hell should never

’gainst the Church prevail,

We have Christ’s own promise, but

we think it might fail.

4. Sit here then ye people,

Join our sleeping throng.

Blend with ours, your voices

in a feeble song.

Blessings, ease and comfort

Ask from Christ the King,

But with our modern thinking,

We won’t do a thing.

Olger, thanks for your kind response.....:)

There is another discussion going on under "Ten Commandments replaced?", and I wanted to review this thread which had apparently started the latter thread.

I have no intention of commenting on this particular thread.
