Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law .

And in Romans 7:6 Paul states the same again:

"But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code."

When did we die to the law that justly condemns us? Back up to verse 4:

"You also died to the law through (or in) the body of Christ"

The same idea can be found in Romans 6:6

"our old man [our sinful life] was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with"

Thus, "One died for all, therefore all died" [2 Cor 5:14]

Therefore we are no longer under the law.

Does that mean we can now enjoy sin as a lifestyle? No! Sure, you'll sin, but try living that sinful life as you did before you accepted Christ. Try having an adulteress relationship and see what your conscience will do! It will bug you to death....You won't feel right. Oh sure, you can be temporarily deceived (like King David), but you won't have any peace. So if you have Jesus you'll grow, but to be under law during this growth would be terrible. Why?

You can't grow if you are constantly condemned. In fact all your good works would be motivated out of fear. But under grace we can serve God out of love, not fear.

Going back to Romans 7:6, notice the last part of the sentence:

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code [i.e., the terms of the law - "obey & live, disobey & die"].

This is my understanding. The law always condems sin. The condemnation we are not under is the condemnation unto death, so long as we accept Jesus's death in our place, then we are not under the condemnation of the law, but our sin is still condemned, after all it is our sin that nailed Jesus to the cross. But we can now have freedom in Jesus's sacrifice, not freedom to sin but freedom from the eternal death that any sin brings without Jesus as our Saviour.

I've lived in Eureka 2 yrs or so, petaluma, san rafael, marin city, San Fran. Haven't been out that way in 20 yrs. Much to do and see and catch up on if I ever ventured that way again. I doubt if looking u up would cross my mind.

I never lived in Santa Rosa. I've visited there several times though. I lived in Petaluma for 8 or 9 months, if you want to call being stationed on a coast guard base living in a place.

Yes, exactly, and according to 2 Cor. 3: 14-18 we have the glorious liberty of becoming more and more like Christ! He saves us from sin's bondage like he did the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and then begins the process of writing His law of love on our hearts and minds. Not only do we not have eternal death but we begin to enjoy eternal life in the here and now. God doesn't want us to have to wait!

Joy if you call being condemned for not being Holy enough ... Joy. I call Joy ... the assurance of Salvation. Salvation even though you don't have enough perfection through Christ through your good works. Joy is knowing that when we see Him .... we will be changed. We will then be made perfect for we will see Him as He is. Yes .... at the second coming. Well ... I call it the second coming even though we all know that it is not His second coming. But that is another subject.
