CaseyButler Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I posted a verse, and there are many of them besides that confirm all Muslims believe what came before the Qur'an. Read it. The Qur'an obligates all Muslims to believe the revelations that preceeded it. That means the entire Bible. It's in the Qur'an again and again. The Qur'an is inspired because it does not deviate from anything the previous books give us from God. It includes them all, every Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, in the religion of Islam, and obligates every Muslim believer to also believe in those scriptures. You can say it doesn't all you want, but the words are THERE. Search on "revelation" and "gospel" and "people of the book" and "moses" and "jesus" and "joseph" and "jonah" and "isaac" and "jacob" and "mary" and "zacarias" and "elijah" and "abraham" and "lot". Again, I ask you: How is Jesus the Son of God literally.. Is Mary the Mother of God... is she an Imaculate Conception? If God created Jesus before the earth was created, is not the term "SON" still metaphor regardless? And you are condemning 1.2 billion people more righteous than we are because they see the metaphor correctly? WHY did Thomas say to Jesus, "My Lord and my God"... Isn't that what it says in Isaiah should have been, because God needed an Avatar on earth for you to believe, because you would not believe in His Mercy for other living beings without seeing a Man show that Mercy? And when He did, when He came and showed and taught that Mercy, we killed Him! Because men's doctrines told us God can't love those whom we hate. But God does love those whom we hate. ADAM WAS CREATED IN IRAQ. And God is coming soon to prove He loves all of His creation, Jesus with Him, because we need saving from the destruction we have brought upon ourselves through hatred and greed for material wealth and an inability to act as God in His place through "religion". Moderators John317 Posted December 1, 2007 Moderators Posted December 1, 2007 ... 9. No son did God beget, nor is there any god along with Him... 10. He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: No son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: It is He who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions. Don't the above statements blatantly contradict John 1: 1-3 and many other verses that teach that the Father's "partner" in the creation of the world and of the universe was the pre-incarnate Christ? God is reported in the Bible as saying, "Let us make man in our image...", "Let us go down," etc. Jesus says in John 17: "Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world existed." Also, "You [Father] loved Me before the foundation of the world." Finally, the NT plainly teaches that it was Jesus Christ (together with the Father) who created the world. Two verses should suffice: "All things were made through Him [Jesus Christ], and without Him nothing was made that was made." "By Him [Christ] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth..." (John 1: 3; Col. 1: 16). Do you believe that Jesus Christ is Allah? How do you understand Jesus' relationship to Allah? If the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ made the world, and if Jesus Christ is not Allah, then it seems clear to me that there is a contradiction between the Bible and the Qur'an on this point. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators John317 Posted December 1, 2007 Moderators Posted December 1, 2007 ... I posted a verse, and there are many of them besides that confirm all Muslims believe what came before the Qur'an. Read it. Yes, I will. Thank you for posting it. Quote: The Qur'an obligates all Muslims to believe the revelations that preceeded it. Does that mean the Bible as we have it now? Don't Muslims believe, as do the Mormons, that the Bible has been changed? For instance, Mormons say they believe the Bible, but when you actually study what they believe, it turns out that they believe only their prophet Joseph Smith knew what the original Bible said. And they have their own version "corrected" by the Prophet. I have seen a copy of this version myself. Do you know for a fact whether or not Muslims have a similar view of the Bible? The reason I ask is that if they believe the Bible, it seems passing strange that they show little interest in studying or reading it. We have Muslim friends who go to a meeting place for prayer and worship every Friday, and they do not know anything at all about the Bible. They appear never to have read it. They show absolutely no interest whatever in it. Can you explain this? Do you often meet Muslims who have a hunger to understand the New Testament, know it well and believe in it firmly as the inspired Word of God? If they do, how can they not believe in all that it says about Jesus Christ-- for instance, that He is as far superior to the altogether-human prophet, Muhammad, as God is superior to man? Now I will have to ask my Muslim friends from Afghanistan about this. What you say about this interests me a great deal. Thank you. It's an amazing wonder to me that I didn't find this out while I studying Islam at the university. How could the texts and my talking with Muslims have failed to reveal that they believe every word of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation? Regards, "John 3: 17" Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Moderators John317 Posted December 1, 2007 Moderators Posted December 1, 2007 I ...ADAM WAS CREATED IN IRAQ. And God is coming soon to prove He loves all of His creation, Jesus with Him, because we need saving from the destruction we have brought upon ourselves through hatred and greed for material wealth and an inability to act as God in His place through "religion". I could easily believe that Adam was created in Iraq, and I do believe your last paragraph here. Thanks, friend. I'm glad to meet someone who knows something about the Muslim religion and the Qur'an. Could you answer a question I've had on my mind for some time? It concerns the mother of Jesus. The Qur'an calls Jesus' mother "a virgin." Now it is obvious that it does not mean she was only a virgin before Jesus' birth. It clearly means that Mary was a virgin at the time of Jesus' birth. Can you explain this? How could Mary be a virgin at the time of Jesus' birth if Jesus' father was merely human and not God? Or did I read it wrong? Let me know, please, what you think. I shall go read that portion of the Qur'an again. Regards, "John 3: 17" Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. CaseyButler Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 John, you can't hear me. You can't hear the Qur'an. I'm sorry for that. There is no point repeating the same verses that by default and inclusion appear also in the Qur'an because God commanded them there. What God commanded and what Christians do are two different things. What God commanded and what Muslims do are two different things. Do you see a pattern here, yet the scriptures of both are virtually identical. Nothing in the Qur'an does not appear either in the New or in the Old Testament, because the Qur'an not only includes the New and the Old Testament, but the teachings of Muhammad on how the Muslim religion should work are taken from Moses' teachings to the Children of Israel. From being allowed four wives to turning in the direction of the temple when we pray.. it's all there, in these cases ideas of Solomon. Again, are you going to cast the first stone? Are you the perfect Christian? Or are you going to follow Jesus and take up your cross and defend God's people as He did? "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, (even) to them that believe on his name: "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." [KJV-Bible - John 1:11-13] You John, are a SON OF GOD, born of the Spirit, not of blood or the will of man. Metaphor, but extremely meaningful. It is the Truth. Jesus gave us all the POWER to become Sons and Daughters of God, will we USE that power as Jesus did, or will we choose to remain in darkness with those who refused to acknowledge Jesus' life mission on earth, which is to teach us the TRUE Character of God? God loves the people whom HE created, not the doctrines man creates. Jesus said to Mary Magdalene: "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them... "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and (to) my God, and your God." [KJV-Bible - John 20:17] They are the same God, One God and One only. John: Allah means God. God is God. God created Jesus Christ as He created all the universe. God's Hebrew name is "I AM THAT I AM", that's all He's told us, and He told us in Hebrew. God chose the Jews and God's Covenants are everlasting. Read the Qur'an again if you wish, paying attention to what it says like we have to pay attention to what Jesus says. May we all be judged as we judge God's Word to the Arabic-Speaking peoples we have robbed, hated, and ignored. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 This is a good thing....right? The effort to live in peace is always a good thing. However since the Lord of creation is the One who gives peace in the heart, it will not be till every living human being invites Him into their heart to rule, that peace will exist. Even in the kingdom of heaven it was not possible to maintain peace as long as Jesus was rejected as Lord. "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 KJV " I am the Vine and you are the branches. Get your life from Me. Then I will live in you and you will give much fruit. You can do nothing without Me." John 15:5 NLV Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators John317 Posted December 1, 2007 Moderators Posted December 1, 2007 ...Again, I ask you: How is Jesus the Son of God literally.. I'm not in the habit of rejecting the Bible's terms. For me it's enough that the Holy Scriptures do call Jesus the Son of God. He was not literally the Son any more than Jesus was/is literally a Lamb. Yet if anyone says Jesus was not the Lamb of God, they are plainly contradicting the gospel of John. I think everyone knows Jesus was not literally a lamb, just as I don't know of anyone who believes Jesus was literally a son of God in the sense that humans are sons of their fathers due to procreation. In Biblical terms, the title, "Son of God," refers to the close, unique relationship He has/had with God the Father. This is brought out in such verses as John 1: 18 and John 17. By the way, Jesus refers to Himself as God's Son in John 17: 1. In John 17: 5, Jesus says, "And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was." Quote: Is Mary the Mother of God... is she an Imaculate Conception? The answer is "No" to both questions here. You gave me the impression you are Seventh-day Adventist. I am also. Of course the SDA church does not believe that Jesus is the Mother of God or that Mary was born of an Immaculate Conception. Quote: If God created Jesus before the earth was created, is not the term "SON" still metaphor regardless? But God did not create Jesus before the earth was created. I don't find that anywhere in the Bible. Do you? Quote: And you are condemning 1.2 billion people more righteous than we are because they see the metaphor correctly? OK, we can forget the fact that the Bible gives Jesus Christ the title of the Son of God. Let's talk about the underlying significance of that metaphor. Does the Qur'an speak to this underlying significance? We might also talk about other important things that the Bible teaches about Christ, such as that He existed before He came to this earth, and that the Bible says that Jesus Christ created the world. Does the Qur'an teach these things? Do you know of any Muslims who publicly believe and teach these things that the New Testament says about Jesus Christ? Regards, "John 3: 17" Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. I completely with everything you say here. Notice that the words "children" or "sons" of God refer to relationship-- in our case, it points to the loving relationship God has with us and also the fact that God is changing us to become more and more like him. A son is like his Father. A Father loves his son. Etc. Quote: God loves the people whom HE created, not the doctrines man creates. Yes, certainly God does love all people on earth who were ever born. He loved Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, but they won't be saved in His kingdom. He loves Lucifer and all the fallen angels. Do you agree? I see a difference between God's love and His salvation. God's love is unconditional. Salvation, on other hand, is conditional-- based on faith in Christ. As John 3: 16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." What doctrines, for instance? Do you have in mind any doctrines in the Bible, such as, "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"? Quote: Jesus said to Mary Magdalene: "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them... God created Jesus Christ as He created all the universe. Where does the Bible teach that God created Jesus Christ? Please see Col. 1: 17-- who do you think that is in reference to, and do you believe it? What do you do about Hebrews 1: 10, which says plainly that the Son of God "laid the foundations of the earth". It calls the Son "Lord" and "Adonai" if one studies the quote from the Psalms that is being applied to Jesus Christ. Quote: God's Hebrew name is "I AM THAT I AM", that's all He's told us, and He told us in Hebrew. God chose the Jews and God's Covenants are everlasting. Do you believe the Old Covenant also is eternal or everlasting? Doesn't the Bible say clearly that it is "old" and "obsolete" and "passing away". Can something be passing away and obsolete and yet be everlasting at the same time? Quote: Read the Qur'an again if you wish, paying attention to what it says like we have to pay attention to what Jesus says. Yes, I will, thanks. I enjoy reading the texts of the "great religions of the world." Next time I read it, it will be with a Muslim cleric, and I will ask him if he believes the entire Bible. Quote: May we all be judged as we judge God's Word to the Arabic-Speaking peoples we have robbed, hated, and ignored. I wish you would please explain this sentence. Who are you referring to as "we" who have robbed, hated, and ignored the Arabic-speaking peoples? I have always been kind and thoughtful to them whenever the opportunity has presented itself. Of course I seldom see any of them. I live in the desert between Palm Springs and Loma Linda. We drive into Loma Linda whenever we can to visit with our Arabic-speaking friends. I signed a petition a couple of years ago to get him released from jail. He was picked up and put in jail after 9/11 because he ignored [actually threw away] very urgent communications from the Immigration Service. He said he was treated very well while in jail. Quote: Or are you going to follow Jesus and take up your cross and defend God's people as He did? I am following Jesus and I have taken up my cross. Who do you mean by "God's people" that need defending? Do you mean the Christians? Or maybe you mean that we ought to be defending the Muslims? If the latter, how do you suggest we ought to be defending them? Against the Islamists or extremists? Quote: "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Stan Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 ACTUALLY all the 28 fundlemental teaching of the Adventist Church are supported by the Koran. Mohammed was more than like like a Sabbath Keeper, as the Koran only teaches the 7th day Sabbath. Dr. Shane Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 There is a lot of rhetoric between Christian and Muslims. I am hesitant when listening to both sides. Some Christians want to make Muslims out to be terrible and other Christians seem too eager to focus on our similarities. I am a little cautious about jumping on either bandwagon. carolaa Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Answer my questions please, how can Jesus be God's literally interpreted Son without God having sex with Mary? God is the Lord of the Worlds, and every corner of this world, and He has not left the earth untended. He will not be defined or limited by human beings, fortunately for all of us. The Gospel, the Good News that God is Love, has been spread worldwide despite those who claim to follow Jesus, a Mercy from the All-Knowing, the Self-Subsisting, the All-Powerful "I AM THAT I AM". I am having a really hard time following your trains of thought. Are you saying it is impossible for Jesus to be God's son without having physical sex with Mary? If so, I personally think that is putting God in a very small box. I mean, today we can make test tube babies with no physical sex needed, so why would we say such a thing is impossible for God? Moderators John317 Posted December 2, 2007 Moderators Posted December 2, 2007 ACTUALLY all the 28 fundlemental teaching of the Adventist Church are supported by the Koran. Mohammed was more than like like a Sabbath Keeper, as the Koran only teaches the 7th day Sabbath. Do you know of a book that contains this information, showing just exactly where we can find such support in the Koran for the 28 Fundamental Doctrines? That would be great if it is true. I know that there are SDA evangelists in Pakistan who are having great success there in preaching the Adventist message and many Muslims are accepting Christ and joining the church. I've heard people say that the Qur'an agrees with the Bible before. However, I am skeptical. I've read the Qur'an 3 times, have taken classes in it, and I have friends who are Muslim. I don't get the impression from them that the Qur'an has caused them to have an interest in studying the Bible at all. I did a search recently on the Sabbath in the Qur'an, and I find it speaks of the Sabbath as "ordained only for those who differed about it." (16. 124) I see many obvious contradictions between the Qur'an and the Bible, such as the fact that the Qur'an denies that Jesus Christ is Deity. In fact, it says "the Messiah is but an apostle." It portrays Christ as talking to his mother immediately after his birth, and gives credence to an apocryphal story about the child Jesus' making a bird from clay and breathing into it so as to cause it to fly away. It contains a passage that appears to flatly contradict the actual crucifixion and death of Christ. Hell, also, in the Qur'an, is viewed much differently than it is in the Bible. In addition, there is statement after statement in it that discourage Muslims from becoming Christians. All these things make it hard for me to believe that it was inspired by the same Spirit that inspired the Bible and the writings of Ellen White. Moderators John317 Posted December 2, 2007 Moderators Posted December 2, 2007 Seventh-day Adventists actually have more in common with Muslims than most other Christian communions. So we start out with those things we share in common and then work into the other teachings. It is helpful, for instance, that the Qur'an mentions the Messiah, Isa (Jesus), a coming resurrection and Judgment, the Sabbath, and healthful living. Muslims especially are attracted by Adventists' high moral standards, such as not drinking alcohol or participating in activities they consider immoral. Those things offer SDAs a way of getting their attention. I have heard from good sources that thousands of Pakistani people are attending Adventists evangelistic meetings and making decisions for Christ, but right off hand I don't have more information than that. I'll try to find out tomorrow and when I do I will post it here. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us," John 1:1-4,14 KJV "No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him." LifeHiscost Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 the Qur'an not only includes the New and the Old Testament, but the teachings of Muhammad If the writings of any other book agree with all found in the Holy Word then nothing is added and no plagues will fall on that author or his adherents. If nothing is taken away from the Holy Word, no promise of the Holy Word will be taken away from that person. Since we all fall short in our understanding and performance of the Holy Word, we all must trust in the righteousness of Jesus, afforded to those who believe Him to be the Savior of their soul. "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the bride say, "Come " And let the one who hears say, "Come " And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." Revelation 22:16-23 NASB "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" "Romans 3:21-23 KJV Regards!
