Woody Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Not I but Christ 1.Not I, but Christ be honored, loved, exalted, Not I, but Christ be seen, be known and heard; Not I, but Christ in every look and action, Not I, but Christ in every thought and word.Oh, to be saved from myself, dear Lord, Oh, to be lost in Thee, Oh, that it may be no more I, But Christ that lives in me. 2.Not I, but Christ to gently soothe in sorrow, Not I, but Christ to wipe the falling tear; Not I, but Christ to lift the weary burden, Not I, but Christ to hush away all fear. 3.Christ, only Christ, no idle word e'er falling, Christ, only Christ, no needless bustling sound; Christ, only Christ, no self-important bearing, Christ, only Christ, no trace of I be found. 4.Not I, but Christ my every need supplying, Not I, but Christ my strength and health to be; Christ, only Christ, for spirit, soul, and body, Christ, only Christ, live then Thy life in me. 5.Christ, only Christ, ere long will fill my vision, Glory excelling soon, full soon I'll see; Christ, only Christ, my every wish fulfilling, Christ, only Christ, my all in all to be. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross: Jesus, keep me near the cross, There a precious fountain Free to all, a healing stream Flows from Calvary's mountain. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross, a trembling soul, Love and mercy found me; There the bright and morning star Sheds its beams around me. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross! O Lamb of God, Bring its scenes before me; Help me walk from day to day, With its shadows o'er me. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross I'll watch and wait Hoping, trusting ever, Till I reach the golden strand, Just beyond the river. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather be His than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands; I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand Refrain: Than to be the king of a vast domain, Or be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause; I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause; I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I’d rather be true to His holy name He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom; He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb; He’s all that my hungering spirit needs; I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Does Jesus care when my heart is pained Too deeply for mirth or song, As the burdens press, and the cares distress And the way grows weary and long? Refrain Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief; When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares. Does Jesus care when my way is dark With a nameless dread and fear? As the daylight fades into deep night shades, Does He care enough to be near? Refrain Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed To resist some temptation strong; When for my deep grief there is no relief, Though my tears flow all the night long? Refrain Does Jesus care when I’ve said ‘goodbye’ To the dearest on earth to me, And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks, Is it aught to Him? Does He see? Refrain Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Brighten the corner where you are! Brighten the corner where you are! Someone far from harbor "YOU" may guide across the bar; Brighten the corner where you are! Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do, Do not wait to shed your light afar, To the many duties ever near you now be true, Brighten the corner where you are. Brighten the corner where you are! Brighten the corner where you are! Someone far from harbor "YOU" may guide across the bar; Brighten the corner where you are! Here for all your talent you may surely find a need, Here reflect the bright and Morning Star; Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed, Brighten the corner where you are. Woody Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm; In celestial strains it unceasingly falls O’er my soul like an infinite calm. Refrain Peace, peace, wonderful peace, Coming down from the Father above! Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray In fathomless billows of love! What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace, Buried deep in the heart of my soul, So secure that no power can mine it away, While the years of eternity roll! Refrain I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace, Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control; For I’m kept from all danger by night and by day, And His glory is flooding my soul! Refrain And I think when I rise to that city of peace, Where the Anchor of peace I shall see, That one strain of the song which the ransomed will sing In that heavenly kingdom will be: Refrain Ah, soul! are you here without comfort and rest, Marching down the rough pathway of time? Make Jesus your Friend ere the shadows grow dark; O accept of this peace so sublime! Refrain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 UNTIL THEN My heart can sing when I pause to remember A heartache here is but a stepping stone Along a trail that's winding always upward, This troubled world is not my final home. Chorus But until then my heart will go on singing, Until then with joy I'll carry on, Until the day my eyes behold the city, Until the day God calls me home. The things of earth will dim and lose their value If we recall they're borrowed for awhile; And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble, Remembered there will only bring a smile. Chorus But until then my heart will go on singing, Until then with joy I'll carry on, Until the day my eyes behold the city, Until the day God calls me home. This weary world with all its toil and struggle May take its toll of misery and strife; The soul of man is like a waiting falcon; When it's released, it's destined for the skies. Chorus But until then my heart will go on singing, Until then with joy I'll carry on, Until the day my eyes behold the city, Until the day God calls me home. Woody Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I woke up with this song in my head. Just had to share it although I know I've shared it before: My Maker and my King, To Thee my all I owe; Thy sovereign bounty is the spring Whence all my blessings flow; Thy sovereign bounty is the spring Whence all my blessings flow. The creature of Thy hand, On Thee alone I live; My God, Thy benefits demand More praise than I can give. My God, Thy benefits demand More praise than I can give. Lord, what can I impart When all is Thine before? Thy love demands a thankful heart; The gift, alas! how poor. Thy love demands a thankful heart; The gift, alas! how poor. O! let Thy grace inspire My soul with strength divine; Let every word and each desire And all my days be Thine. Let every word and each desire And all my days be Thine. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 You know Gail - We were discussing how cool it is to read our hymns. I suppose a nice transistion for Woodies Goodies - would be to isolate a sentence and discuss it. For instance - with this song - I would isolate the following: Lord, what can I impart When all is Thine before? Thy love demands a thankful heart; The gift, alas! how poor. If ONLY we would offer our Lord a thankful heart - imagine how we could transform OUR life and the lives of others. And while it may seem like a small gift to our Lord in comparison - it still can be mighty powerful. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
teresaq Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 How coincidental Woody. I have been thinking how I need to spend time literally thanking God. I get caught up in this or that and don't think to go about my business thanking Him. My client is literally starving himself to death and my worry about ending up jobless yet again is more on my mind then relaxing in the Lord and just being thankful. Thank you for being one of those the Lord is using to remind me to be happy and thankful whatever happens. O! let Thy grace inspire My soul with strength divine; Let every word and each desire And all my days be Thine. Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790

Administrators Naomi Posted January 14, 2012 Administrators Posted January 14, 2012 Sadly, it appears that I have missed Woody's Goodies. Hymns hold so much meaning and speak to me in very special ways. Until Then has long been my special favorite. When I was in the Phillippines they asked my favorite song. I told them that it is difficult to pick one, but probably Until Then. I expected them to use the song but as the series was coming to an end it had not been mentioned. On the last night when I finished speaking the choir leader told me that they had a special song to conclude the series. I still didn't think much about it until they began by saying that they wanted to dedicate their song to me. I have never heard it sound more beauiful. They added a verse acknowledging this as perhaps our last time to see each other while on this earth. They changed the chorus to something like this: But until then our heart will go on singing, Until then with joy we'll carry on, Until the day our eyes behold the city, Until the day God calls us home. I still cannot hear this beautiful hymn without tears coming to my eyes ... I see those beautiful faces and hear their voices. So many memories are attached to the hymns which we have heard through the years. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Woody Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Well welcome to Woody's Goodies Naomi. I hope you will feel free to make many contributions here. If you wake up singing a particular song - just waddle on over to Woody's Goodies and share with us. note: Hope you are not offended by the word "waddle" - I just couldn't think of another alliterative word at the moment. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won.
