What would/should the church do, given their currant "rules" of baptism?

Should the church rewrite the rules?

Okay. Membership. I know of no rule that states that those who are homosexuals ... can't be members. Please show me what rule this would fall under. Biblical or Church oriented rules.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I am a homosexual, but by the grace of God and the power of the Spirit, I don't practice it any more, nor do I want to practice it. We are NOT talking about homosexuals becoming members. We are talking about unrepentant homosexuals who want to keep their homosexual sex life in tact and do not want to change, nor believe it is a sin to do it.

Check out 1 Cor. 6: 9-11. The people listed there are no longer doing those things. We don't baptize unrepentant thieves and drunkards and murderers, etc., or at least we shouldn't.

When they do those things and do not believe those things are sin and they want to keep doing them, the pastors and ministers know they are not ready to be baptized.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

I have run into others as well. One person said that to overcome the Homosexual life, he had to change his name, which he did.

That was recommended to him, by someone else who had overcome. He felt he became a new person.

No matter where someone is in the Christian walk, I would hope they would always feel welcome here.

Again, I am addressing the question of baptism and becoming a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, not simply worshipping in an Adventist Church. Anyone is or should be welcome to come to our churches and worship.

It just leaves me rather confused as to what you really are talking about.

Go back to my first post here on the thread or see any post I have ever made at any time on any thread. I have always said that homosexuals who go to church should be welcome. I have always been talking about membership and baptism.

Stan, as you read my posts here and elsewhere, what do you believe I am saying? Do you believe I am clear on the topic, that I'm speaking of baptism and membership, not whether gays should be welcomed to church?

No. I say you are talking about homosexuals becoming members but in the above quote you say you are NOT. Quite confusing.

Red, I have to ask. Are you purposely being obtuse? Are you trying to redirected to create anger? I'm finding it hard to believe that you are really this confused about a hypothetical question.

If you really are that confused I would suggest stepping back for a while. Then reread the posts before posting another, more direct question.

If you think his posts are clear ... then I am stepping out of this one for awhile.

I Believe John317 is giving an open door for gays to fellowship.

AND

Membership is a different story...

Exactly what I think he is saying. I am trying to address the issue of membership with him but he says it is not about membership and does not want me to address it. So ... off I go. ........ offtobed

Look at any post I have ever posted on the subject of homosexuality, and you will not see a single one where I have ever suggested that gays should not be welcomed with open arms in the SDA church. That is ALL gays!!

The discussion on this thread, as far as what I have been talking about, concerns the issue of baptism and membership of unrepentant gays who want to practice the homosexual lifestyle and who say that it is not sinful to do that.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Ok I am going to lock this thread for a while. John, if you wish to open a thread on gay membership and the church, how about doing it in Natter Matters or What Adventists Believe?
