Taylor Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 (This is not directed at any particular post) For the record, I like Rob and Gerry and Redwood (and the rest of you too). I think it is possible to have vastly differing oppinions (though like I said I don't think they are so far apart..but I know people disagree with that), and still be kind and give each other the benefit of the doubt. I don't think any one of us would ever go up to someone not of our faith and tell them how disgusted we are with what they believe even if they are dead wrong and we are dead right? It is harder online...as we can't see people's face, hear the kindness in their voice, or the smile playing around their mouth. I do think we can discuss issues and have strong opinions without getting personal. Just my 2 cents again. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I think only that only God can accurately smell the presence or absence of "self-love". Maybe we should all start taking people at their word as to what they say instead of interpreting it. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Use the Bible to define sin! "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4 KJV "Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God's law by transgression or neglect--being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will)."1 John 3:3-5 AMP Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, [how?] and lend to them without expecting to get anything back"? Sinners lend to sinners all the time. Our banking system is based on interest. How long would our Capitalistic way of life last if banks loaned money without expecting to get anything back? Paul, in 1 cor 13:5, states that "agape" is not self-seeking. Therefore self-seeking is is sin. Where does it say that in the law? The law says, "you will not commit adultery", but Jesus expanded on it. He stated that if you looked at a woman lustfully you have already sinned even though you didn't physically sleep with her. And so we could go on and on, but like I said, the law has 10 brief rules that define sin. It doesn't define "all" sin. Jesus fulfilled the spirit of the law (the unwritten portion). His life of agape answers all the law. Quote
Robert Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Okay, back to once saved always saved. I have stated that you are once saved always saved as long as your faith in Christ remains. The question then is, are we lost every time we sin? Was King David saved or lost when he committed adultery and murder? What is the unpardonable sin? "All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." The rejection of the HS through hardening of one's heart can lead one to fall from grace. I'm not talking about backsliding, I'm talking about premeditated apostasy. Was David in the process of hardening his heart? Yes, he was for a season justifying his sin. He was dominated by his lower nature, but was he lost? Again, no. Here is David's prayer upon his repentance: "Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me." When David was brought to repentance was the Holy Spirit still with him? Yes! That is clear from the above. So David the murder and adulterer was in a saved condition even though he was living for the flesh. Every time we sin we do not fall from grace. Why? Because we have been delivered from under the law. The law can't condemn, but it still points out sin. It just can't condemn because "in Christ" the law has been fulfilled. Rob Quote

The way we access God's Grace is through repentance. But some here feel they no longer need to repent. That is the issue. Grace comes prior to repentance. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 KJV "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV Since the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit God, he/she needs grace to receive repentance since repentance is a gift from God. " Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Romans 2:4 NKJV "Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins."Acts 5:31 NKJV Regards! I am in agreement with all posted here but ... You will notice that I used the word 'access' and I was referring to the Grace of Salvation. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. LifeHiscost Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 His life of agape answers all the law. You are absolutely correct. That's what Gerry has been trying to get across. Gerry, you can clarify or correct me as you choose. " Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."Matthew 7:12 KJV "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."Galatians 2:20 KJV "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." True-believer Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 In life there is three sets of people... The first set are True-Believers in Jesus Christ who have their hope and trust in Him for ALL time... these are Onced Saved Always Saved... The second set are Believers in Jesus Christ who "say" they have their hope and trust in Him for ALL time... and admit they are "ALWAYS SAVED"--and yet still live there own selfish lifestyle pleasing themselves... whether or not they have done great and awesome things for the Church--They in reality are LOST... And the third set of people are Unbelievers, those who openly confess and reject God//Jesus altogether whether in private but most of them in public--they are LOST... Which set of people do YOU belong to??? Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Woody Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Quote: Thanks, Redwood. That little guy in front seems to be taken by surprise. Got any guesses who it could be? Yes, I suspect that little guy is me. It is painful for me to receive hugs often times. My wife has warned people not to hug me due to my pain. But people forget. Last Sabbath one dear sister came after me with enthusiasm. I braced myself for the pain. It was horrible. Another brother .... refuses to shake hands when I reach out to him. He always has to have a hug. But lately he has been trying to be gentle. So, yes .... the guy in the middle is me getting squished. Notice at the beginning I am smiling and when the hugs come ... I am saying OUCH. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
