He did not overcome sin for us but so that our overcoming sin would matter. We must overcome just as did He, through the power of the Holy Spirit. He did not use His divinity as an excuse for His overcoming sin. We should not use His divinity as an excuse for our NOT overcoming sin. We have the same choice and opportunity as did He, we must do it the same way as did He. If we don't then we are actually saying that the only way that He overcame was through His divinity, and in that we deny the power of the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. Quote

His Divinity was kept back the whole time. He overcame by faith just as we are to overcome, by faith. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." That would be the power of the Holy Spirit. That being said; He was still God and still divine. He did not have a sinful nature because God has NO sin in Him, He is perfectly righteous. He has the very nature of God because He IS God. And as He instructed we are to acquire that very nature ourselves, and when we do we will have overcome. Quote

His overcoming was through His use of the Holy Spirit. He overcame (through the HS.) so that we might have life. He is the perfect lamb. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won.
