Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 8, 2010 Members Posted January 8, 2010 You asked about pro-lifers killing doctors and saying it was hard to support with factual evidence. There is your factual evidence. George Tiller was murdered by a pro-lifer. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Dr. Shane Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 You asked about pro-lifers killing doctors and saying it was hard to support with factual evidence. There is your factual evidence. George Tiller was murdered by a pro-lifer. No, I asked to show evidence that the Pro-Life movement encouraged killing abortionist doctors. When someone makes a statement saying "Pro-lifers kill abortionist doctors" that is like saying "Adventists commit adultery." That makes it sound like the Adventist church teaches its members to commit adultery. Simply providing one example of an Adventist that committed adultery isn't enough to support the statement. Even providing ten examples in the past twenty years of Adventists that committed adultery wouldn't support the statement. Even the link to Wikipedia that Peter provided says "A small fraction of those opposed to abortion have sometimes resorted to very public demonstrations of violence in an effort to achieve their objective of curbing the termination of pregnancy." About 200 million Americans identify themselves as pro-life. Over the past 20 years six abortionist doctors have been murdered. How can one possible make the blanket statement that pro-lifers kill abortionist doctors? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Dr. Shane Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Below is the thread in question. Pro-lifers don't generally want to admit to any wrongdoing. They kill physicians who perform abortions and then chortle about it. They post crude comments about deaths of professionals who have done abortions, and then get upset when those irresponsible comments are removed from the forum.. I'm sorry you don't see more to the issue than an "exchange of ideas"... Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I did not state that all pro-lifers kill. The word "all" is implied. I learned that in 10th grade English class. If I say "Adventists don't eat pork." I don't have to add the word "all". It is implied. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 8, 2010 Members Posted January 8, 2010 No it isn't. Your 10th grade English class was flawed. Dr. Shane Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 OK, I will let "There Buster" be the judge. He is a teacher and published author. I will trust his judgment. I know if I were to say, "Adventists are vegetarians" most people would read that as "All Adventists are vegetarians" and correct me. The correct way to write it would be "Some Adventists are vegetarians." Now since 6 pro-lifers out of 200,000,000 have killed abortionist doctors in the past 20 years, I think even saying "Some Pro-lifers kill doctors" would be stretching. I think "A handful of Pro-life lunatics have killed doctors" would be more accurate. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 8, 2010 Members Posted January 8, 2010 okay. SOME pro-lifers kill doctors. Satisfied, Shane? Feel better? Go ahead and ask There Buster for his opinion. His opinion is not a consensus. My father taught English, and he would back ME up. So it's a moot situation. doug yowell Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Shane, you probably have already guessed but you and I disagree on some basic details of how the SDA church (to keep on topic) should approach the abortion issue, particularly in the area of governmental legislation. I don't find your arguments compelling (challenging, but not compelling). But what I do find compelling is your civility with those of us who disagree with you.No insults, no demeaning comments,no false accusations,no distortions, and a sympathy for person facing an unwanted pregnancy. I thank you for your support for CPC's.I commend you for your Christian courtesy. I salute you for your patience. It is only under these conditions that anyone can have the possibility meaningful interchange. Under the present circumstances I think that Titus 1:15,16 aptly applies. And it would seem apparent (ask Karl) that further interaction with those (and their cheerleaders) whose only contribution seems to be the degradation of those disagree with them, is a meaningless pursuit."For out of the heart the mouth speaketh" Quote

I'm sorry you don't see more to the issue than an "exchange of ideas"... Now let's look at the second sentence: Quote: They kill physicians who perform abortions and then chortle about it. The word "they" is a pronoun. Its use in this sentence is a reference back to the word "Pro-lifers" in the previous sentence. That statement being made is: Pro-lifers kill physicians who perform abortions and then chortle about it. i have been putting this up over and over again. now you do it and your wording is interesting. why didnt you do this the first time i called you on it? did you need her to use "generally" in each sentence after the first one? the first use wasnt good enough for you? perhaps, the goal is to make light of those against abortion that have killed? while pro-choice have nary a stain to their record? Guest Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 There is a debate going on about abortion at "The Narrow Way" forum. here is a quote from that thread: Quote: Making abortion legal leads to many other horrendous sins... If it is OK to kill the helpless unborn, then it won't be long and it will soon be OK to kill the old folks, who are no longer productive, too....in fact, in some places, that is already the case, such as Denmark and Sweden. One of these awful people that OBAMA appointed to some CZAR position, his personal belief is that abortion can take place up until a child is 2 years old!
