Graham says it doesn't matter if you are Muslim or Buddhist, they are still saved and will be in heaven. How can one know Christ and not be conscious of it?

Sure you can believe and quote whomever you want.Will that help you get to the kingdom of God? Will it help others get there?

Absolutely not! It is an attack on the gospel and I can prove it....

When the little-horn power attacks the gospel and puts down the truth of God, is that not an attack against God? Daniel 7 &8 as well as Rev. 13-19 show clearly that God views it as an attack on Himself.

Those powers that attack the gospel are called "antichrist" because they are against Christ and substitute a false gospel in place of the true. The little-horn power influences the church to substitute a counterfeit priesthood in place of Christ's priestly work in the heavenly sanctuary. Satan, the chief antichrist, attacks the remnant, commandment-keeping people of God. All these are really attacks on God Himself.

Ah, but you are wrong. I do have peace. In fact I have more peace now than ever before in my life, when the circumstances around me dictate that it should be the opposite.

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:... (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Rom 2:10,13

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Most Christian doctrines were developed as the result of the church being confronted by heresy. Satan brings them in to cause confusion but God uses them for good to ultimately defeat him.

People are not lost for being confused or for questioning; they are lost for rejecting Christ. Heaven has room for heritics who are willing to grow. The problem is that heresy can be dangerous here on earth, hurt our relationships and give us pictures of God that can eventually lead to rejecting him, or lead others to reject him.

Oye, Oye, Oye, Oye, Oye, cough, cough, cough, choke, choke, choke... One of the big things that I love about Mrs. White is that she is in full agreement with Billy Graham on the point of this quote, and I am very pleased that Billy Graham said this. This is one the the deepest and trueist statements he ever said. I am impressed that he finally came to realize this truth, (but he has been someone willing to grow, I wish that Franklin would come to realize this truth)

Now before you take me out to burn me to the stake, Steve, I just think you have some trouble understanding what he said, and let me encourage you to keep studying Mrs. White and you can see how one can know Christ and not be conscious of it even if they are Muslim or Buddhist.

The center of Mrs. White's thought is her philosophy of the Great Controversy: She starts our with the trinity and the different roles of the trinity (I've gone into detail at other posts here you can look up)God as the allpowerful creater ruller of the universe, in Christian terms "God the Father"; God in relation and identity with us, our personal friend, one of us "God the Son". These two aspects of God are objective revelations. Then we have "The Holy Spirit" God involved with our subjective expirence, God working in us, God intamately involved with working with every cell in us (Kellogg got this part of us too close to us and made it us, but he became so confused since God does work to completely sustain us)and guiding our lives and working with our subjective expirence.

God's nature is self sacrificing love as the trinity live in a righteousness by faith relationship with each other. To the trinity their closest neighbor is the other members of the trinity. In the modern charismatic movement their "Holy Spirit" calls attention to himself and the focus is talking about the Holy Spirit. But the Biblical "Holy Spirit" points to Jesus and the Father. Jesus on the other hand points to the Father and the Spirit, and the Father points to Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

We can see the above teaching of Mrs. White reflected in the Exodus 20 version of the 10 commandaments which break up into 3 thirds: The first third consists of 3 commandaments that tells us how to love God supreamly and points to God the Father; The last third consists of 6 commandaments which all point to loving our neighbor as ourselves and points to the work of the Holy Spirit; And the middle third, consisting of 1 commandament tells us that the only way we can love God supreamly and love our neighbor as our selves is through resting in a personal relationship with God, the Sabbath points to the work of Jesus.

Mrs. White goes ont to show how these are attacked by the 3 lies of Satan. There are other places where you can read in more detail (both in other posts I've done here and even better in Sanctuary and the Atonement, please refere to them for more detail). Briefly, Satan's first lie is that God is not God but just a higher evoloved life form claiming to be the creator so that he could become a tyrant imposing the law of self sacrificing love and righteousness by faith on others to prevent them from evolving to perfection. That God does not live by his law. This attacks God the Father. The second and third are both based on the idea that God is Just and Merciful. Satan says that God has to be only one or the other, and the second is that since God is a tyrant he will be just but not merciful, that God is going to get you for your sins, that hell has to be some kind of divine spanking to satisfy God's justice. This attacks Jesus who died to save us, and to show us that Satan's view of hell is wrong. The third is that God is merciful but not just, that Jesus' death does away with the law. This attacks the Holy Spirit who works with us to lead us into self sacrificing love.

Anyway, getting back to Billy Graham's statement: The Holy Spirit works with everyone. I believe it's Redwood shared here a powerful quote by Mrs. White, I'm going to thank him for it in my next post. The Holy Spirit works with everyone, always pointing them to Jesus. As Paul in Romans 2:-16 "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law...which show the works of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness...In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

The Holy Spirit preaches the gospel to everyone and works on every heart. When they see Jesus in the end they will recognize him either as their closest friend or the one they have been rejecting. Everyone on earth fall into one of 4 catagories: Those who are fully committed to God and settled firmly in the light they see and nothing can shake them and who have developed the character of Jesus. Those who have made some kind of choice towards realizing that there is someone out there who loves them and who are growing but not firm in the truth. Those who have not started reaching out to what ever is out there, who are lost but who could change their mind, and finally those who have committed the unpardonable sin. The Holy Spirit does this whether people are teaching in the seminary to those who are living on a remote island someplace or the deepest jungle. Jesus is bigger than Christianity. Salvation is God's love for all of us and all we can do is choose to yield to this love or reject it. I like the next statement, but I don't know for sure and won't be dogmatic about it, but according to Jim Ayrs, before St. Augustine the church believed that what Jesus did on the cross was so powerful that it saved everyone except those who actively heard and rejected the gospel, that St. Augustine changed it to the only people who are saved by the death of Jesus are those who hear and actively accept the gospel. Anyway whether that is true or not, Jesus is bigger than Christianity and the Holy Spirit works with every heart and they are either yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit and develop the character of Jesus, and since in the ancient world the character meant the name, they are saved in the name of Jesus. If they pray for the types of things Jesus would pray for, no matter what language they use, they are praying in the name of Jesus. On the other hand, if we pray for things that Jesus would not be praying for, no matter how much we say "In Jesus' name amen" we are NOT praying in the name of Jesus.

When we see Jesus at the end in person, God treats us the same. Jesus is our deepest desire (look back on my posts earlier in this thread where I write I think 3 posts looking at hell fire). We all want to be with Jesus, some will yield to this desire others will reject. This is heaven and hell. This is why Mrs. White talks about people in heaven who ask Jesus about the scars on his hands. This is why I hate the New theology with their "Say the magic words and be saved" theology. We believe in righteousness by faith, not righteousness by vocabularly. We are saved by the PERSON Jesus, not by the vocabulary J-E-S-U-S. And that person reaches out to the Buddhist and Muslim who have never heard the missionary, or who hears the missionary but does not make the connection.

I'd like to tell you the story of Dr. Chan. He was Buddhist and worked as a dentist in Cambodia durring the killing fields. When he heard the Kamare Ruge took power he took off his glasses and trampled them to pieces, left his office to never return and took his family where they fled to a part of Cambodia where no one knew him or knew he was a dentist. He played the part of an illeratrate pessant, working at what ever he could find, living in a very run down hut where his wife gave birth to one of their children. Eventually he made it to Thailand and refugee camps. While there he and his family heard the gospel preached by missionaries, but with apperently no affect on him. They became aquainted with Christians but did not become Christians but remained Buddhist. Eventually he and his family was able to make it to the United States where my Aunt Judith was helping Cambodian refugees. One of the things she would do was to take the families to church. Once in church Dr. Chan became all excited saying "It's him!!!!" Dr. Chan had long ago realized that there was someone outside of the natural world and as a young man or child began reaching out to what was out there. He felt that he was lead by what ever this personality out there was. When he ran for his life he trusted that what ever was out there was with him and would see him through. Although he ran into missionaries and other Christians, he never made the connection, but that day in church he realized that the Jesus the Christians were talking about was his precious childhood friend who he knew was leading him all his life. Once he made the connection he became a Christian and today loves studying the Bible to learn more about his friend.

Did you know that a large number of the commadants of the Nazi death camps were Lutheran ministers? These are people who apperently consciously accepted Jesus. On Christmas and Easter and Sundays they would preach and lead the guards in singing the great hymns to Jesus and pray to Jesus and they and the guards would cry as they sang. Many of their prisoners came to hate the word "Jesus" but would continue to pray and recite the Bible and help their fellow prisoners sharing food and blankets and what ever else they could to try to help out their fellow prisoners. They went to the gas chambers praying the Psalms. In the resurection many of these Jews who hated the word "Jesus" but who reflected the character of Jesus will see Jesus and say "It's you??? I thought that Jesus was... well forget who I thought Jesus was, I know you, you are my God my life long friend, I have longed for you and you will save me." while these comadants who were preaching "the gospel" every Sunday will see Jesus and recognize that he was a face that he saw in every group he over worked and sent to the gas chamber.

Nathan Sharanaski (spelling?) was a Russian Jew but raised in a family that had given up on God and had become athiests, thus he was raised in a godless home. He went to Russia's top technical college. Now many of the students were dissatisfied with the soviet government and would join different movements. Because of his Jewish heritage Nathan became involved in supporting the rights of the soviet Jews. He believed that they had as much right to their faith as he had to be an athiest and felt that they should not suffer because they believed in God. Eventually he met a nice Jewish girl who was also involved in this movement. They fell in love and got married. His wife got permission to leave Russia and immigrate to Israel and had to leave the day after their wedding. Nathan thought he would be allowed to go a few days latter. Instead it was 12 years before he saw his wife again and he spent 8 of those years in soviet prisons. While in prison he got a package from his wife with her photo and a copy of the book of Psalms in Hebrew. Although an athiest, Nathan was interested in learning Hebrew so was happy to have a book in Hebrew to study. He tried to read on his own, but did not get very far. The prisoners would communicate with each other by emptying out the water from their toilets and speak through the pipes to the person in the next cell. One day Nathan got a new neighbor who shared the toilet pipe with him and this guy knew Hebrew and taught Nathan Hebrew through the toilet. Nathan used the Psalms as his text book. But as he read the world of God he not only learned Hebrew, but the God of the book came alive to him. He gave up Athiesism and became a believing Jew. He memorized several Psalms and would pray them to God. He said that the Soviets could not punish him with solidary confinement because he knew that God was always there with him and he'd spend his time in solidary reciting the psalms and talking to God and worshiping God. Finally he was released from prison and from the soviet system and was heading to Israel where he became a part of the goverment. When he was met by his wife he greeted her with the words "Sorry I'm late dear."

Now you may ask why we should have missionaries: Well there are 3 reasons: First even if a Buddhist has fully committed to responding positively to the Holy Spirit, and have perfected a Christlike character, Missionaries still give them a chance to know more and more about this one they love. Second, those who have reached out but are still growing can use the clearer knowlege that comes from the Bible. God gives everyone some light, but Jews, Christians and Muslims have more light than the other religions and non-religion. Of these Christians have even more light and Protestants more than Catholics. But we are not judged by how much ligh we have but how we respond to what we have. The third reason is those who have not made a choice for God, the lost who have not committed the unpardonable sin. It is a lot easier to choose Jesus when presented in a clearer way instead of stumbling around in a world of ignorance and superstition. Sometimes our job is to make a Baptist a better Baptist. Sometimes our job is to lead someone into Seventh-day Adventist Christianity. Sometimes just to Christianity, or to help a Jew become a better Jew. When I'm in Thailand, I've seen in book stores the dairy of Ann Frank in Thai. I buy them to pass out as missionary journals. As you may know, one of my heros of the faith, who I believe was one of the most Christ centered preachers of the last century is Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heshel. (Heshel does not mearly point you Jesus, his words takes Jesus and bashes Jesus between your eyes like being hit in the head with a baseball bat swung by Babe Ruth). I share Heshel's works with Jews (by the way, when Heshel learned about Adventism and Ellen White he fell in loved with us. He use to call Adventists friends and ask "How are we doing" asking how the church was doing, and would say "Adventists have the best theology, but you are never going to go anywhere until you learn how to present your message in a sophicistatated and credible manner.)

Dr. Fleming tells the story about a nun who attended his classes who seemed to not be able to learn enough about the Bible. He asked her about it and she said "I thought that being a nun, working as a nurse, was all God expected of me. Then one Christmas in the hospital we were putting up Christmas decorations. One of my patiens was a Jewish man and I did not know if I should decorate his room. I asked my mother superior and she did not know but said "It would not hurt to ask him what he wants." so she asked him and he replied "Thank you sister, but I don't need the decorations, I'll just cellebrate Hanukkah like Jesus did" and when he said those words I realized how ignorant I was of the Bible and of just who Jesus was and since then I began to read the Bible and have such a thurst to know the Bible better and thus to know my Jesus better."

I love Mrs. White for many reasons, one is for how she sees Jesus as bigger than Adventisism, and even bigger than Christianity but Jesus for the whole universe. I'm glad that Billy Graham is coming closer to Ellen White's view, and starting to point people to the person instead of the vocabulary. I love the doctrine of the Investigative Judgment because it teaches us that Jesus is bigger than Christianity, that I don't have the smugness that I've said the magic words to be saved, but that it's my relationship with Jesus. That there are those who have not consciously accepted Jesus but as heaven reviews their record they see that they have indeed yielded to the Holy Spirit's pointing them to Jesus, while others who have said the magic words and have "consciously" accpeted Jesus, like some of the guards and those Lutheran ministers who were durring the week comadants of the consentration camps, but have developed a different character. And that we are living in a time where we can examin the Bible such as never before and thus join our nun sister, and Nathan and Dr. Chan and Abraham Joshuah Heshel in studying the pages of scripture and falling in love with the God of scripture.

I don't disagree with any of our official doctrines as they appear in the doctrinal statements.

The "wrong doctrines" I'm referring to are those taught by some individuals, not by the church itself.

He didn't say our doctrines were wrong as a church, but that there are always individuals who teach wrong doctrine in and around our people, and here at Club A.

I don't see any of the doctrines of our church that are in error. If there are any doctrines of our church that are in error ... I have to wonder why a person would remain in the church. And I would appreciate seeing Biblical evidence that any of our doctrines are in error. IF it was possible that some could exist.

I know that some here on this forum believe that wrong doctrines came into our church in 1957 ... but again ... I would like to know which of the 28 Fundamentals are in error. And please present Biblical evidence.

Amen!!! (see my last post, that long one but hopefully not boreing) Mrs. White's writings and life has even more comments and actions along those lines. She went from a shut door Adventist to a woman who was a popular speaker in Sunday keeping churches, and when she preached in these churches on Sunday mornings she did not preach on the beast or the sabbath or Babylon, but about Jesus love and the healt message.
