Woody Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Quote: I do drink Postum occasionally. Is that okay? Is it decaffeinated ? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
SivartM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 No. I think it can only be decaffeinated if it had caffeine in it to begin with. Woody Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Well ... I dunno then. I'll have to check this out. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
SivartM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 What does the Bible say about Postum? Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
Woody Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 What I found is that Postum is dead. It died in 2007. This is 2010. How do you still manage to drink it when they no longer make it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
SivartM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Really? My Postum must be really old then. Woody Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Perhaps you drink the fermented kind? By now it should be VERY ripe. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 PKRAUSE YES I have read that sodas with caffeine in them cause head aches dgrimm60 I wouldn't say they cause the headache, usually its the withdrawal that causes the headache and I'd say that that goes for more than just soda's and coffee, etc. My favorite soda was coke, but I haven't had a coke let alone soda for over 15 years. I'm saying that that's why I don't have anymore headache's, but since than I haven't had anymore headache's. I think its more because of the water that I drink. Because when I did have any kind of headache's I'd drink water and within no time the headache was gone. So take whatever you want from that! As EGW has said all things even good, should be done in moderation. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
SivartM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Perhaps you drink the fermented kind? By now it should be VERY ripe. Well, it's just dried roasted grains. Of course, I never could find the expiration date on the jar... Maybe I should switch to Roma or something. Forget where I read or saw that, but they were talking about drowning your body with to much water. But I believe it would take quite a bit of water, because I think that you could probably drink about a gallon or 2 before that happens. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Dr. Shane Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I like Roma. It never tasted much different than Postum anyway. It is a cereal beverage which came from the great state of Texas. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 14, 2010 Author Members Posted January 14, 2010 My mom drinks Pero... It's made in Switzerland but you can get it at your local grocery store. It tastes something like Roma and Postum, and is cereal-based without caffeine. And a little bit goes a long way! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 14, 2010 Author Members Posted January 14, 2010 Is this an Advenitst forum or not? You'll be telling me that you all drink Coke. Whether it's decaffeinated or not is beside the point!!! Coffee is coffee and Coke is Coke. I don't drink Coke. I drink Pepsi and Mt Dew. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Overaged Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I don't drink Coke! Do I get to go to heaven now? I don't think so, because you are being judgmental of people who do. guibox Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Is this an Advenitst forum or not? You'll be telling me that you all drink Coke. Whether it's decaffeinated or not is beside the point!!! Coffee is coffee and Coke is Coke. That is the point. The whipping boy for every cultic SDA who needs to find fault with these drinks is because of the caffeine. This is the moral platform that is stood upon. If that moral shortcoming is removed, the argument is a moot point. If you want to argue that from a health point of view we shouldn't consume it, you might have a point against soft drinks. However, you better be ready to rail against cookies, cakes, pastries and many other sugary goodies that most SDAs scarf down at potluck and at Christmas. If you want to take this stance that no matter if it is decaf or not we shouldn't have it, then either you are a legalist who follows the letter of the law despite it's illogistics, or a hypocrite if you consume sugar at all. Well I just do what the Bible says, so..... No Coke No Pepsi No Coffee Chocolate is OK. So is mac and cheese. Mountain dew is good too! Veggie meat in a rich tomato sauce is good. GreatLakesGramma Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 If you want to take this stance that no matter if it is decaf or not we shouldn't have it... Are you aware that the process of decaffeinating coffee leaves other toxins in it? Plus, not all caffeine is removed. So decaf isn't any healthier than regular. And you are absolutely right about the sugary foods. The typical Adventist vegetarian, or even vegan, diet isn't really healthy. It's an improvement over eating meat, but still isn't very healthy.
