Members phkrause Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 Good point rudywoofs, not to disagree with GLG. I do think that she makes a good point also. Those that live longer in that article not only did eat a vegan diet I believe, they also stated that God was number one in there lives, but that they had a great support system as well. Obviously I took that article at face value that most of those had little to no processed sugar etc. I also would guess that most of them make there own desserts? But I am just guessing. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Moderators lazarus Posted January 14, 2010 Moderators Posted January 14, 2010 You being the preacher/standard bearer and all, what is the position of the Adventist church regarding eatable underwear? Is it considered pornographic or just unhealthy eating? I'm scared to answer that question. What is eatable underwear. Is that an American invention. Do they sell it at the ABC? Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 14, 2010 Author Members Posted January 14, 2010 And fig leaves are NOT eatable....Have you tried? Fig leaves ARE edible! And medicinal... Quote: You probably do not think about the leaves of the fig tree as one of fig's edible parts. But in some cultures, fig leaves are a common part of the menu, and for good reason. The leaves of the fig have repeatedly been shown to have antidiabetic properties and can actually reduce the amount of insulin needed by persons with diabetes who require insulin injections. In one study, a liquid extract made from fig leaves was simply added to the breakfast of insulin-dependent diabetic subjects in order to produce this insulin-lowering effect. source But I won't ask about what you wear anymore... Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted January 14, 2010 Administrators Posted January 14, 2010 ... It is not in the purpose of God that any of us would be addicted to food or drink. oG Hmmm... ... I need a dictionary again... addiction or addicted "to become physiologically or psychologically dependent on a habit forming substance to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma." For many years I have habitually consumed both food and drink. The last I tried kicking my physiological dependence on "food or drink" I was in fact severely traumatized, if you call dehydration and starvation, "severe trauma." I do believe if I had kept that up I would have died a very traumatic death. I guess I am a hopeless addict to food and drink. Dr. Shane Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Whether it's decaffeinated or not is beside the point!!! I have been in Hispanic Adventist churches in North America that served decaffeinated coffee. Many latinos in Latin America drink regular coffee and are aghast when I show them what Ellen White wrote about it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 [qAre you aware that the process of decaffeinating coffee leaves other toxins in it? When buying decaf tea or coffee look for the label that says "naturally decaffeinated." That means it is decaffeinated with the water process and not toxins. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... GreatLakesGramma Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Then why was there such a big hullaballoo over the National Geographic special about SDA's living so much longer due to lifestyle, including (mostly) diet? There is a lot more to health than what you eat. The Adventist health message is balanced. Diet is only one of the 8 laws of health. You can obsessively maintain the healthiest diet possible, and still destroy your health if you neglect the other seven. You can also eat an unhealthy vegetarian diet and still enjoy better than average health, if you take care of the other areas. I think for most of us it's awfully hard, or maybe just plain impossible, to consistently follow every possible healthy practise. But we will still benefit by doing the best we can under the circumstances we are in. For me, it's not about longevity, it's about feeling as well as possible as long as I am here. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

Well I just do what the Bible says, so..... No Coke No Pepsi No Coffee Chocolate is OK. So is mac and cheese. Mountain dew is good too! Veggie meat in a rich tomato sauce is good. Going to movies is bad but Netflix is great. This is not a personal comment, in any way; but because of my nursing back ground, I can tell you that if one has too much of that "veggie meat," they will be making a trip to the local drugstore for Senokot.
