Sonny Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Do you actually have to stare at the sidewalk and recite verses to keep yourself from noticing attractive women? Do you think that is normal? If you're a healthy young man, full of testosterone, your nature will hammer your mind with lustful thoughts, period. If not then you're sinless and we all know that's a lie. Quote
Sonny Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 *GP Covering up women to keep mens eyes from wandering. Hummmmmm seems another religion is already doing this. I'm a bit late coming in on these posts.... I, for one, am not suggesting "covering up women". Women show skin for one reason - attention. It's not agape love that drives them to do this because agape is not self-seeking. It's the love of self - iniquity - their bent to self that gets them to dress the way they do. Quote
Sonny Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Don't be a stumbling block to others. Women DO have a responsibility toward God in how they dress because of the impact such dress can (and does) have on men. True, but for the unconverted woman it's a tool to get what she wants. In the end, however, she gets used and grows old. That's the cure for the woman who doesn't give her life to Christ - old age!! Quote
Sonny Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 How dare men place the blame for their own poor choices on women?! Poor choices? Wow! Bud, sin isn't a choice...Now you may trade off one sin for another one, but your love of self is not a choice. You are a slave to the desires of your nature. The only way to experience freedom is in Christ. However, your nature will continue to hammer you even after conversion. When it does all one can do is allow God to take over it. That's the only choice... And yes, women have a responsibility not to be a temptation to men. I don't think anyone is suggesting rules because only a heart transformation can change the way a woman dresses. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted April 24, 2011 Moderators Posted April 24, 2011 The point is that (1) women ought to take responsibility for how they dress to avoid tempting men, (2) men ought to take responsibility for how they dress to avoid tempting women, (3) women ought to take responsibility for their reactions to how men dress, (4) men ought to take responsibility for their reaction to how women dress.
