Prophets: True/False, how can we tell?

Moses was pretty popular with the Jews of Christ's day even though they didn't really know Moses very well.

The Jews of David's day found him very popular! In fact they viewed David as the embodiment of the Jewish Nation!

Moses is considered the greatest Prophet for Jews. David however is not considered a Prophet, he is considered the greatest King with Solomon. Other than that I can agree with the fact that most if not all the rest were not liked very much. As far as the NT ones, Jews don't recgonise any of them, except of course the Messiahic Jews.

Sure he suffered all those things.

However, look at the rest of his letters and how blessed he states he is to have so many friends and fellow believers.

Most of Paul's references in regard to how he was treated in the churches he formed is very positive.

Plucking one part out that is negative gives the wrong impression of how the Believers felt about him.

Where Prophets are concerned it will always be a mixed bag. It is not always totally one way or the other.

A "true prophet" will teach "the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus." That will result in fruit that can be recognized as the "truth of God."

Obedience is the test of discipleship. It is the keeping of the commandments that proves the sincerity of our professions of love. They focussed on "righteousness by faith" just as Ellen White did because righteousness is obedience, "the obedience of faith." Rom.16:26. Speaking of the 1888 message, Ellen White wrote, "It invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God." T.M.92.

But it is not enough to know that righteousness is obedience to the law. We need to know how to obtain it. Of course it is obtained through faith. Now notice how the pen of inspiration explains what this faith is by which this righteousness, which is of God, is to be obtained:

"Righteousness is obedience to the law. The law demands righteousness, and this the sinner owes to the law; but he is incapable of rendering it. The only way he can attain to righteousness is through faith. By faith he can bring to God the merits of Christ." F.W.101.

So, all are invited to come just as they are, sinful, helpless, dependent, and receive the righteousness of Christ which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God simply by bringing to God the merits of the world's Redeemer.

Say, "Father, I have no merit or goodness within whereby I may claim salvation, but I present before You the all-sufficient merits of the all-atoning blood of the spotless Lamb of God. This is my only plea."

This is the prayer of faith which ascends to God as sweet incense and the believer is greatly blessed, blessed with the Gift that brings all other blessings in its train.

This is a daily matter.

Interesting is rest of Matthew 9 surrounding your quote of verse 29..

I have not taken any Godly prerogatives. Pastorchick is the one assuming such Godly prerogatives. I do not claim to be a prophet or even the son of a prophet but pastorchick claims to be a prophet.

The text you are attempting to cite about judging is not used in that way. I am NOT judging whether you or anyone else will be saved or lost. That is the judgment we are NOT TO MAKE.

In fact we are told to JUDGE THEM BY THEIR FRUIT! Do you forget that text? I am judging by pastorchick's fruit. This is perfectly Biblical for me to do so.

It seems the beam is in pastorchick's eye because he claims far more Godliness than I do.

1. He claims to have overcome all known sin. I have not. WHOSE BEAM IS LARGER?

2. He claims to be a prophet. I do not. WHOSE BEAM IS LARGER?

3. He claims to have Direct messages from God. I do not. WHOSE BEAM IS LARGER?

4. He claims to be the Elijah. I do not. WHOSE BEAM IS LARGER?

As I told you in the other thread you lack critical thinking. You blindly accept everything pastorchick says and you do not heed the Biblical command to "test the Spirits".

You also need to ask God to teach you from His Word instead of asking pastorchick to teach you about God's Word. (Of course pastorchick may not like that! He wants you to sit at pastorchick's feet instead of sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ!)
