My sources for those ideas are from the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies of Hebrew University, Jerusalem Israel, Atlantic Union College religion classes, Loma Linda University religion classes, A. Graham Maxwell's Sabbath school class, the 3 chapters in "Sanctuary and the Atonement" titled "The Mighty Opposits: The Atonement in the writings of Ellen G. White" parts 1 and 2, and "We must All Appear: The Investigative Judgment in the writings of Ellen G. White", articles in the Anchor Bible, articles in Biblical Archaeology Review and different archaeological textbooks and journals I've read, and I am not positive but I believe also the Interpeters Bible. These are the creative ones who dissagree with the majority of Christians. Who cares about what the majority of Christians say, we want what the Bible really teaches (well, maybe you are looking for what the majority says so that you can gribe about it) I am more into archaeology and the light that it shines upon the Bible than I am for the views of theologians from the dark ages even if they were starting to see the light. Guest Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Hello DblEspresso. Are you still here? You opened this thread for a very good reason. You asked for help. I pray you have received the answers needed to help put your addiction to rest. Porn, historically has taken some men and women to the darkest side of evil. You are on Satan's ground, opening yourself to his deceptions. The illusion that you are enjoying is pure deception. I for one will post to you this last time with a prayer in my heart for you always to seek the Lord with all of your heart and mind continually as He promises to set you free. "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, 'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'" (John 8:31&32)NKJ version. God Bless you. Yours in Christ's love and grace. Sheila7 Amen! Quote

I am quite familiar with Graham Maxwell and these re-interpretations of the biblical text. It doesn't really support the idea that the Bible is inspired because one has to draw from a lot of suppositions to come up with these ideas. What it looks like to me is a very creative way to include aspects of the biblical narrative to come up with something that sounds more just. The problem all sin solution type theologies is that they don't explain the motivation to sin in the first place. If one has pretty much unlimited resources and there are no problems there is really no motivation to strive for power. I have to question the being Satan's intelligence in that situation. This idea that god needs to be worshiped is also problematic because it reveals that god has an ego. Or that any hierarchy has to exist to establish a government in a universe that should be self governing. Plus if this is how god chooses to communicate a message it is example of extremely poor communication. There are so many aspects of the Christian narrative that are so unlikely that any repair or gentler interpretation really has no chance of clearing up major flaws. Quote Rich http://tiny.cc/CM2j8

cardw Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 We can discuss this, but again what would you do different from what God did? I don't have god like powers so I can't predict the future. So anything I offer would be theoretical. There is no way to defend it because there is no way to determine the future. The variables are astronomical. It is obvious to me that Christianity doesn't work because Christians behave worse than non believers. So it makes no sense to me to defend, with such confidence as Christians have, a belief system that clearly is flawed. I do, however, know what doesn't work and I can recognize what is inconsistent, lacks evidence, and is hypocritical. When people quote from the Bible as an authority they stop thinking. It makes no sense to me to follow advice from an iron age document which clearly contradicts even itself and can be used to form 38,000 different views of what each Christian group thinks is true. The truth is we don't know and anyone who claims they know is not being honest with themselves. Quote Rich http://tiny.cc/CM2j8
