Quote:doug yowell Where could I find that in the Bible? KJV Matt 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. YLT Matt 17:9 And as they are coming down from the mount, Jesus charged them, saying, 'Say to no one the vision, till the Son of Man out of the dead may rise.' Quote
doug yowell Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 KJV Matt 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. YLT Matt 17:9 And as they are coming down from the mount, Jesus charged them, saying, 'Say to no one the vision, till the Son of Man out of the dead may rise.' Glad you brought this out, jasd. It's a learning experience for me cuz I never noted the wording that Jesus uses here in Matthew. However, I don't think that the term vision as used in this context refers to that experience that we normally associate with "a vision". The Mark 9 account and particularly the Luke 9 account give more exact details of what was going on.Couple these accounts with Peter's (II Peter 1:16-18)use of the incident and it seems clear to me that, unlike normal biblical visions, what all 3 of these disciples saw was an "EYEwitnessed" meeting.Notice that Luke states that they didn't fully grasp the situation until they were "fully awake". Contrast this with Ezekiel,Daniel,Amos,John,ect...ect...understanding of their condition while in vision. Quote
Gustave Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 In the Jewish religious construct, for the Jews... ...Everything boiled down to IF the law ( Moses ) & the Prophets ( Prophets of the Bible ). ...Allowed for Jesus TO BE the Christ. This confirmed that according to the Law ( Moses ) and the Prophets Jesus WAS indeed the Christ.... ...The majority of Judaism rejected Jesus however. Quote
miz3 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 The sun-clothed woman of Rev. 12 is neither Adventism nor the Trinity nor Mary. The symbol is not of a literal woman. In the Bible, a pure woman represents a pure church, and an impure woman represents a fallen, corrupt church. In this case, the church of God-- which includes both the Jews and the Gentiles, who follow God-- gave birth to the Messiah. He came out of the Jewish race, being descended from Abraham and David. BobRyan Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Adventism as the sun clothed woman! The sun clothed woman was the sign in the heavens of the Blessed Trinity and Mary... Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
BobRyan Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 ...Read Hebrews 11 ( the whole Chapter ), it mentions Enoch, Moses and many others......In verses 39 & 40 it says the aforementioned did NOT recieve "the promise". Verse 39 And these ALL, having obtained a good report through faith, received NOT the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should NOT be made perfect Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." doug yowell Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Your hilarious Lysimachus. You make soooo many rash statements that even John317 has to correct your wild indiscretions. You have no credibility left. That's a bit hasty, miz. It's usually 3 strikes and your out. Jesus expanded that with a 7x70 formula, but it still only looked like a half swing from up here. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted September 24, 2011 Moderators Posted September 24, 2011 Your hilarious Lysimachus. You make soooo many rash statements that even John317 has to correct your wild indiscretions. You have no credibility left. That's really unfair, miz3. I don't disagree with him now that he's explained what he means by Adventism: all of God's people who have been looking forward to the first and then the second coming of the Messiah. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
miz3 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 This is an interesting statement made by Jesus Christ Himself. "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. It appears that Christ is saying that disease, accidents, crime, etc. all can kill the body but they cannot kill the "soul". Only God can kill the "soul". In that light what happens to the "soul" at death. It seems that only the "body" dies. The question is: Is the body the "conscious" part of the human or is the "soul" the "conscious" part of the human? If the "soul" goes back to God in Heaven (assuming the person is righteous and not among the lost) does that "soul" receive its new immortal flesh? It appears that Jesus Christ left the door open with this statement in Matthew chapter ten. "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'" John 11:25-26. It appears in these two texts that Jesus Christ is saying something other than "soul sleep". Let's face facts. "Soul sleep" is indeed death. However such a theory is NOT SUPPORTED by these two texts. The "soul sleep" theory is not an "open and shut" case that SDA would have us believe. Quote
