Hello everyone. I just wanted to briefly talk about my conversion and leave my last post on this website.

Well, recently, I was praying to god for the truth. I was confused and felt like I didnt know which church to belong to. They all had different topics and tought different things. so, I asked in deep prayer, Which church is right for me? Three days later, i had some Missionaries knock at my door. I looked out the window and seen two guys dressed up and I knew right away that they were missionaries. It hit me really hard, I right away went back to the prayer I made to god in my mind. I felt answered already!! So, I open the door and let them in. I chat with them a little and they tought me the gospel and the church brieftly. I felt warm and comfortable at the start of the meeting. I had tons of questions and they answered them all. they all sounded right too....

so every since then, I continued taking meetings with the missionaries, covering several gospel topics. I have been happy with it since. I've felt closer to god and I always feel his presence since then.

They gave me the Book of Mormon and told me to read a few (chosen) topics out of the book, then pray and ask if its right. So, I read what they told me to read and prayed.

The next day I felt answered. I had a really good feeling about the Book of Mormon and I felt the spirit was with me every since i started picking the book up. so, I got baptised and became a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's a really good church and I love everything about it.

I learned some really interesting facts that I've never known before.

For example, I was baptised as a baby. Into a catholic church.. Up until a few months ago I thought I was saved.

But, I learned from the missionaries that infant baptism is not good. Your not supose to do it and it does not save you. When your a child, your automaticaly saved.

Also, I learned that you MUST get baptised by someone with the authority or it doesent count. This person has to hold the Priesthood, and then you can be baptised. But, if your baptised by just some random person or church leader, your not saved. It all has to be done PERFECTLY!! so, that was really interesting too me.

I also learned about Pre-earth life. We were in gods presence before we even came to earth! That is when Jesus was chosen to come to earth as our savior! We were sent to earth to receive physical bodies and to learn good from evil. So that we may become strengthen and more like God. And after we die physically, our spirits go to a spirit world. Which is made up of "paradise" and "prison". Paradise is those who followed christ with faith. Prison is where unbeleivers go. There, we learn more. and unbeleivers have a second chance to go to heaven. Then, after jesus returns, we will then be ressurected and brought to the judgment seat. there we will be judged according to our life on earth. After that, we get sent to one of three kingdoms of glory. (three heavans) in other words.. Celestial is those who had faith, good works, and were good people on earth. But, there is no firy hell. Hell is a place of darkness, where your lost. Without god. Helpless...

So, those are some of the amazing facts ive learned from the church. I am not here to argue with anyone rather which church is right. This is more of a personal post. Something I beleive and that I want to share. My intentions are not to tell anyone what is right or wrong, or what to do.. my intention is to only share what I beleive. And Im NOT saying seventh day adventist are wrong!!! I went to an adventist church from age 10 up until like 6 months ago, so I am not here to talk against SDA doctrines...NOT MY INTENTION.

I just thought it might be of interest to others...

maybe you would like a book of mormon? You can go to www.mormon.org and have missionaries contact you. they will teach you so much stuff.

And you too, will know its right!!

This is my last post though. I am *NOT* cancelling my membership right now, I want to give people time to respond to this post so i can reply back. But in a few days I am cancelling my account from this website. So, If you would like to ask questions about anything , let me know!!

Good luck to all of you......

God Bless!!

Robbie, I know you are leaving this site (or have already left) judging by the message you left on my site, but I would ask that you look for REAL truth in Jesus. Get a Bible, and read the story of Jesus. He IS the truth. Yes, I have looked into the Mormon religion, and let me tell you now -- they have only told you a LITTLE bit of what they believe. They will have you paying for the "baptism" of those who are dead, believing that, no matter how wicked they were when they died, the fact that YOU were baptised for them will see them in heaven.

If you would like to hear some more about the TRUE story of Jesus, then get a Bible and begin to read the Gospels.

Yes, I know that the Mormons have already told you how they received their Bible -- that is a load of rubbish. The Gospels in the Bible were written by Jesus' disciples -- the men who walked with Him, talked with Him, ate with Him, and lived with Him. They are not lies.

Ask God to guide your mind. Forget about anything ANY church has told you. Read the Bible for yourself, asking God to teach you the truth. He will, if you are willing to listen.

God bless,

Beryl

Yes, that is what the temples are for. We baptise the dead if they were not able to hear the gospel or learn of jesus...In hopes of giving them a second chance. That's why the temples are so important to not only me, but MANY LDS members.

And thanks for the advice, but I have been answered and i feel I know the REAL truth now. No one or anything could ever change that. I am happy god guided me.

are you refering to the Book of Mormon? When you said bible?

Well, the book of mormon is not a bible, it is another testament of jesus christ. Its a wonderful book and I am so happy that God allowed us to have this account. Its explains much more of Jesus and allows us to understand him better.

How the book came about was from anciet prophets ( same as the bible, the 12 apostles have also took somewhat part in the writtings) they were then burried by Moroni. Mormons son. Joseph smith (in the 1800s) was then directed to the writings by Moroni (as an angel). He then translated them by the power of God. And, i know it is not rubbish becuase God has answered me. I know in my heart, that every word in the book of mormon is true. The book of mormon helps us know that the bible is true, and the bible helps us understand that the book of mormon is true. so its def. reassuring.

I hope you will ask god about the book of mormon. Maybe you could request a free book and read some passages? I would hope that you do that...

THey also offer Quads, which i bought from the church for only 35 dollars. It contains the bible (king James), Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants (which were revelations given to Joseph smith) and Pearl of Great Price (which was Joseph smiths *correct* translations of The book of Moses, Abraham and a few other stuff).

Anyways, I could sense that you had a negative feeling about the church. Yes, I know, I did not explain everything in which they beleive becuase there are like two major groups of mormons. Some hold onto Old beleifs, and others beleive in CURRENT church doctrines. I, am not the kind who beleives we become gods, i dont support men having many wifes, I dont think we will be our own gods on different planets, etc..

The church doctrines are very similar to any other church.. dont beleive everything you hear.

There are also many other church teachings that are different from many other churches, but Im not going to explain them all.. and I clearly know what they are...But, I beleive in what im being tought, becuase Its confirmed by god. When I am unsure of something, I ask god..and receive my answers. thats how I know whats true and whats not..I will admit, I have had some unanswered prayers (questions) , but that just means I have to wait and see..maybe he cant reveal them? But anyway, I love the church and Ive NEVER felt closer to god then I have now.

I hope you request the book of mormon to find out for yourself!!

Have a nice day!

I have read parts of the Book of Mormon and The Doctrines & Covenants. Compare what those extra-biblical Mormon books to what the Bible says. You will soon find out that they don't agree. One of the most shocking Mormon doctrine I found is this: that what God once was, we are. And what God is, we will be. See Gen 3 for the origin of this claim.

Robbie, I had a friend who went through nearly the same thing you did. She was very unsure of God, faith, the Bible, and all the trappings of the Protestant & Catholic churches. She prayed for guidance, and the next day 2 Mormon missionaries came to her door. She had the same type of study as you described, and eventually was ALSO baptized. She was absolutely positive this was all God-sent. She had the same feelings about the Mormon church as you described. On a different forum than C/A she was challenged by nondenominational Christians to read the Bible, and the Bible only, for 3 weeks. She did that and started asking questions of the Mormon church members about things she read in the Bible. They got angry very fast because they could not give satisfactory answers. Kaia ended up leaving the Mormon church because of the turnabout in how she was treated by her new "friends" - basically she was shunned. It really hurt her. But she said she felt like the blinders had been taken from her eyes about the false teachings of the Mormon church.

She is not an Adventist, but chose Catholicism instead. But at least she understands what Christ did for us and campaigns for Christ now, instead of Moroni and Joseph Smith.

I would challenge you to do the same with the Bible. Read it, and it alone for 3 weeks, without any contact with the Mormon church or members of the church. You might be surprised at the hostility (not "concern," but outright hostility) you probably will encounter from the Mormon church members. Don't let it get to you.

These are only suggestions. Please read the Bible, in a translation you can understand. I do not want to see you get hurt by those who are acting like your friends. :(

Yes, I've had some personal experience with former members of the Mormon church. That church does actually shun anyone who reads the Bible only, and who follows the teachings of the Bible instead of the Mormon church. Soon the other members will turn their backs on that person, rather than join in studying the Bible with them.

They will take away your belongings, cut you off from contact with other members, and refuse to associate with you, if you stop doing everything the way they tell you.

I've had a client family which was completely broken up when one parent left the Mormon church and the other parent became ill. The church members then took it upon themselves to move the teenage children out of their home, take away their furniture, rent out the family's house, and give the teenagers no financial help whatsoever. They feel it's their duty to shun and censure anybody who fails to follow exactly the Mormon routine.

Please study the Bible for yourself. If something doesn't make sense, read further. Continue studying (the Bible only) seriously, as though you were preparing to teach it to another person. Use several modern translations of the Bible, to compare one version of the Bible with another, in order to get a good understanding of each text.

We should not take the writings of Joseph Smith or of Moroni or of any other person, if they contradict what the Holy Bible says.

God bless you.

So much of what Mormons practise is very good - their emphasis on family life and clean living for example. I lived for a year with a new convert to the Mormon faith and found it interesting, and have read some myself into their beliefs.

I find most disturbing the belief that we are eternal spirits, and (at least Mormon men) will eventually become as God, when the Bible quite clearly says that (at this time) only God has immortality. A thoughtful reading of Genesis 3 is basic in this regard.

It is so easy on meeting the missionaries, who are usually clean cut and pleasant, warm people, to think they must have the truth. I pray Robby that you can continue to search for yourself and find the real Truth, the Man Christ Jesus.

Well Robby. Since you have indicated that you will never change and never leave this church ... I have to believe that your mind is closed .Unfortunate though. At this point ... reading the Bible would do you absolutely NO good. So, all I can do is wish you the very best.

John the Baptist didn't hold the priesthood and he baptised Jesus. So what you are saying is that Jesus' baptism didn't count? That I wont believe. Get rid of the BOM and read the bible for truth!

I SO disagree with this. Reading the Bible might be the only thing linking him to Christ. Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit.

Robby,

Sounds like you are well rooted in the LDS religion, I myself have lived in Utah for 50+ years and have many friends and family that are LDS. My wifes' entire family are Latter Day Saints. During my days in school I attended LDS semenary where the years study was on "The Book Of Mormon", I was not conveinced of it's truth but I know many are. Like many have said here, that LDS have many good values and are sincere about their religion, as I'm sure you are.

I also use a website that is sponsered by the LDS church. It has a good collection of Pseudepigrapha, Apocrypha and Sacred Writings all neatly arranged for good study. If your interested it is as follows;

http://www.pseudepigrapha.com/

I would also like to extend my condolences on the lose of your churchs President and Prophet Gordon B. Hinkley. He seemed to be a wonderful man and a true follower of Jesus. I'm sure the newly appointed Thomas S. Monson will be as good for your church as was the former.

Recently I have came across a video on the "The Book of Mormon" and the Bible as historical documents and found it quite interesting. It is a little over an hour in length and treats both with respect. The link if you are interested in it as follows;

http://www.lhvm.org/vid_bible_med.htm (broadband)

http://www.lhvm.org/vid_bible_low.htm (dial-up)

I would be interested in your comments after viewing the video. I hope that you continue to seek the truth in your life and find it.

May God bless your quest

Robby, you say you have never been so close to God. Great! That is good. That is the only thing that matters. Not doctrines and churches, but God alone. You and Him alone. Don't let anyone come between you two. Not the SDA church, or the Mormon church. I don't care if you are Christian, or Hindu, or Buddhist, on Shintoist, or Islamic or Whatever, for God is with us all. And we should not use church affiliation to separate ourselves from one another, for we are all one in God.

Blessings :)

In a religious sense...he is....A quick telling of his 'totally awsome conversion' story ought to convince a lot of people from this SDA sight to convert to Mormonism....Right????

Mormons sometimes do make an appearance in other churches and venues for the purpose of recruiting. Note the link to the Mormon website.

Oh, no, it certainly is not! I have studied with Mormons, I have looked at the Book of Mormon. The claim is made that it is one of the "two sticks," and that it corrects 'errors' in the Bible. However, it is not at all comparable to the Bible. Nor is it in accord with Scripture.

Whenver the Mormon missionairies come to my door and try to push the book of Mormon on me I tell them I believe in the bible and bible alone. When they tell me that the Book of Mormon is another testiment I tell them that I know there is some points that the Book of Mormon and scripture do not agree. And if they differ what am I to believe. They try to tell me that the book of Mormon is the more recent testament of Jesus and I quote the bible text where God said. "I am the Lord your God. I change NOT."

They leave soon after that. They cannot argue with scripture.

Oh good grief. I know nothing more than the clues that are present. Go and reread his post. Also over in the shout box he asks about cancelling his account. Plus he hasn't responded to any posts since Beryls. Doesn't take much more for an uneducated guess that he may have already left. You want to make something more out of it you can do it by yourself.

Ok. If I am wrong then I apologize.

I will say this about the Mormons. Our neighbors were mormons and they invited us to their church once and they do have SDA's beat on how they take care of their own. They have a wednesday night day care center where parents come to drop of their kids for free so they can have a night out to go to the movies or shop and not have to worry about the kids. It is free for all mormon members.

If a person is looking for a sense of belonging then the mormon church seem to have us beat. I was very impressed with their service to their own members. I have not scene that in any Adventist church.

I am not impressed with their theology but I am impressed with their in house service for their members and how they go door to door with their missionaries. Something we as Adventist should be doing but we do not.

We could learn from the mormons a great many things.
