How do YOU guys get away with it. The last time when "I" gave this advice ... I was acused of "doctrine bashing". Not sure when you might have been denied a dignified response for giving the same advice, however it might be possible the attitude of wishing the person involved, the gift of Truth over and above any desire to prove one's self right or wrong. Telling what one believes to be the Truth doesn't always bring accolades from our human counterparts. Nor does the mere statement or belief of what one believes to be true, make it true or false. But, we do have the Book of Mormon, which was only translated one time. So, I would have to say (my personal opinion) I feel the Book of Mormon to be more correct then the bible. Therefore, we do spend a lot of time studying the book of mormon rather then the bible. But, they both teach nearly the same things... I hope your friend returns to the LDS church. The church was set up by the power of god THROUGH Joseph smith, So I would hope you do follow his teachings if you were in the church. Again, like ive been saying...the bible IS important, its gods word just like the book of mormon, but I trust the Book of Mormon before I do the bible when it comes to correct translations. It only takes ONE word to completley give a false teaching. However, the book of mormon only went through one translation. The reason is because they are commited to the church and god, therefore, they have the Holy ghost which helps them. Yes, I will def. continue scripture study and following Jesus. Thanks! Theyre trying to tell you that the book of mormon is the most correct of any book and that you will find a lot more information in it that will teach you salvation, and the ONLY way to get it..jesus christ.. That would be great!! I have checked out the LDS Church...I have also checked out Joseph Smith....My family used to own some historical LDS property in Mossurri [sp] before it became LDS property. My mother, a methodical geneologist, researched the property and the historical events surrounding it....including J. Smith. The conclusion is that Joseph Smith was a charloton...Sorry, he did not live up to the biblical standards either....He lied and he stole and he cheated... Sorry, that is my testemony on Joseph Smith... I truely don't think you are gonna convince me that Joe was a prophet...I have felt the Spirit of God moving on me, and seen it on others....And the Spirit says, Joe ain't the pro....phet.. Please, lets remember that all the people involved in the creation of the worlds many religions were all human and subject to human failings. There is no reason to bad mouth Joseph Smith or any of the leaders of the LDS church. If you would like to debate the errancy of the BOM vs the Bible, great but set aside the personal zingers. I remember that one of your deacons once told me that if I would "just listen to the Spirit, that I would feel that Joseph Smith was a prophet". I am sorry, but my feelings have been wrong before, and I was NOT going to allow feelings to determine my religious future...and I still follow this principle... It's not a feeling.
