We can value her as a person, and child of God.

We can encourage her in her developing walk with the Lord.

But, all of the above neither means we should accept the claims that people state about her, nor that we should beleive her.

The standard of proof for the claims that some make about her should be high. Months ago when this first surfaced, and I took a look at the cited references, I came away with the following:

a) I wonder if perhaps some are making claims about her that go beyond what she actually makes?

B)

On the basis of what she has said, I am unconvinced of the truth of what some others have said about her.

And while we're making our cautious assessments, we can also

apply the Word to ourselves for the sake of those we feel need to question. And I do not decry that need.

There will always be unbelievers that not only believe talking to angels is cause for suspicion of mental stability, but that God has no voice that would deign to stoop low enough to talk to those made in His image.

OTOH my understanding of the appendix is that it takes poison into itself to protect the body from what could lead to death. The only reason for it's removal is because man hasn't yet figured out its best purpose, and continues to load it up with poison until they get rid of the warning flag, leaving the body to die of something else.

Sounds like a logical formula for present day reasoning, much like the lukewarm's acceptance of people like Soo who are another of God' effort's to reach the lost before it's too late.

First the appendix, when I was in medical school we were taught that the lymphoid tissue in the appendix has a big part in educating the body lymphocytes in the recognition of foreign tissue, cant remember if it is the bacteria or the viruses etc. Aldona might remember that, she is younger than I !!! It is a blind pouch and as such can get blocked off and subsequently infected. Only then does it need to be removed.

On the original subject of this thread - I have just been to tea (supper) with a member of the Cabramatta SDA church here in Sydney. She started talking about this lady, the purported second prophetess, she knows her and told a story much the same as the original post. It certainly brings it closer to home.

I simply meant to encourage her in doing the work the Lord has given her, and not let her head be turned to the right (flattery, praise) nor the left (naysaying), but to affirm God's truth and light in her as she works to fulfill the commission she feels she has been given, which as I understand it was simply to translate some SDA books for the Laotian people.

LHC you're not familiar, perhaps, with what goes on in the "World Affairs" forum here. From what I've encountered there, Shane is fond of stirring the political pot in a pro-Bush direction. Note carefully the aside about Kennedy and Kerry which lends a clue there. Shane has made it undeniably clear (in my view) on numerous occasions he considers Bush to be a "good" -- and Christian -- man in government.

I do, however, agree with your take on it -- and I'm not trying to speak for Shane or anyone else, only my own perceptions.

The two guys getting married, I'm trying to remember which point in prophecy that was pointing to? Do you remember?

Quote:

It was in section #1 (right at the beginning - UGH!) being used as a very blatant illustration of "immorality" -- the voice over of Pastor B. was all about the increase in immoral behavior, etc. and two guys were holding hands in front of -- get this one too everyone -- A FEMALE PASTOR!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Probably not a pastor, more than likely a civil ceremony. How many churches recognize same-sex marriage and have female ministers??

Perhaps, but the point is this: because of AF's insistence on enclosing this little scene, the DVD is for all intents and purposes ruined for sharing with anyone who might have otherwise sat up and paid attention -- and God LATER could deal with their views in this area -- had it not been included.

And that makes me feel somewhat angry, actually. Another great witnessing tool RUINED by someone's selfish insistence on shoving their view on a "hot potato" under others' noses. Isn't the rise in school shootings, gangsta culture (admiration of the criminal element), child-on-child violence and sexual activity in GENERAL (premarital and YOUNG), pedophilia, kiddie porn, porn on the internet, etc. sufficient to illustrate IMMORALITY?

I might get a DVD editor and edit that image out so I can still use the thing. That and the slam on Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings -- good grief -- fantasy literature is NOT occultism. They could have done something intelligent in their 3 minutes blathering about the occult -- something more up to date maybe -- but no, same old same old -- slam popular films and talk about "seances" or communication with the dead. No one communicates with the "dead" -- occultists conjure spirits and servitors; witches cast spells. The Victorian seance era is LONG OVER people ... it's just not the big occult cheese it used to be.

The graphics were OK -- mediocre compared to modern tech but still very good for an institution relatively new to the tech world. However, the content left a bit to be desired. They could really use some updated concepts and ways to illustrate them. AF has always been stuck in a "rut" this way. Truth never changes, yet is always fresh; but the wineskins do. Old wineskins won't hold it anymore.

And to be honest and fair I think you will agree that Brother Neil has made it clear that he considers Bush to be a liar with selfish ambitions whose faith is not genuine. Hardly a person anyone could consider good.

Back on topic, I find it odd that this experience was conveyed in a letter to raise money. I would think such an expereience would be used to get those in the lukewarm church to repent and live more godly lives.

As far as "good men in government" is concerned, that is interesting. First consider this woman is from Laos and America is considered A) A wicked capitalistic oppressor, or B)a liberator freeing thousands of the oppressed. If it is option B than it could be said if America passed a Sunday law the "good men in government" (the liberators) "will work evil" (by passing Sunday laws). And that is consistant with our understanding of prophecy.

If this lady's experience is genuine I suspect we each need to examine our own lives and sound the trumpet louder in preparing the world for Christ's soon coming.

On the raising money thing, yeah, sadly that letter made me want to spell it 'profit'. Genuine or otherwise, and whether the guy is fired up or otherwise, I think that was pretty unfortunate.

There have always been accounts of visions in the SDA church - I pray they are true and are direct messages to keep us awake. Nico has it right above - time to check our oil bottles, not just our lamps.

Stan;

No. Sorry. Not my cup of tea! You know me! I'd probably ask some off limits question and be banned from asking it. I can be stubborn, right? I want Steve to still be my friend when it is over!

You can reach him on his website endtimeinsights.com. Steve’s associate speaker is Ivor Myers. He was on 3ABN Today - today. He and his wife would be good also. He is a former RAP Recording Artist. Amazing story. He can be reached on endtimeinsights.com also.

[:"blue"] Now as for Soo. I believe she did NOT say the government was good. I believe I heard her say the government will try to do something very good, but it will be very bad. [/]

She is far to busy to be bothered with curiosity seekers. She only told those that asked to try to help them understand why she was doing what she was doing. She is busy doing her father’s business. Praise God.

Stan; You are a great guy. Thanks.

Curiosity seekers??? Is that what those here at Club Adventist are? I thought we were born again Christians waiting for the second coming of Christ. If God has sent an angel to this woman, those wishing to chat with her about that are not automatically curiosity seekers and it is insulting to assume they are.

Not sure I see where this fits in. Brother Neil was not perceived as picking a fight unless I missed something? Anyway, a perception about one person does not require a perception about another to make it either "fair" or "honest". It is what it is. If I am perceived as being X, that does not require an equally balanced perception of someone else as Y to either vindicate it or call it into question; it stands or falls on its own merits.

We do not know if Soo was behind the letter. It was written by an AZ conference officer.

Also keep in mind that the American point of view about America is not necessarily the "correct" point of view, is not necessarily the most accurate or unbiased point of view, and the very real fact of our nation being a "capitalist oppressor" in the eyes of parts of the world is NOT a terrorist conspiracy plot but could be an authentic reflection of their perceived experience with the USA.

Frankly, if an angel visits you and gives you important info, it's your obligation to impart it to as many people as you can. Were the apostles too important for the little people?

Nico, there is a core group of us here that have gotten to know each other and often times comments from one thread carry over into another thread. You made the comment that you have observed I believe Bush is a good Christian. My comment simply put that in prespective to this discussion. How can one look at the quote "there are good men in government" and think of Bush when when they believe he is a liar that send thousands of soldiers off to war so he could make a few extra dollars?

Quote:

I tried to put that in prespective. If you followed the link you would know that. This woman is from Laos where the governement has used WMDs to kill its own people. Many of the people look at what America did in Iraq and wish America would come do the same for them. So when she says there are good men in governement do you think she is refering to the communists in Laos or the capitalists in America?

Honestly? I'm not certain. I'd have to go back and read what she reportedly did say to see what the context was. Initially I made the assumption it was the USA without really thinking about it much.

I do know not all who aid the Beast do so willingly. Some are just unknowing, and honestly believe they are doing what is good and right. These will have a chance to see the truth and take a stand as well. For all we know, some of those I support could be in that number; ditto for those you support. smile.gif

The info I'm familiar with only says she was visited by an angel from God, who subsequently told her information helpful to recognition of the path God wished her to follow. Most of that info is available in the Scripture for anyone who wishes to follow the Scripture's teaching, except of course

that which pertained to her alone. That certainly does not identify her as a prophet.

While trying to determine whether Soo has the gift of prophecy, it might be worthwhile to review definitions of the gift of prophecy.

Of course, as Adventists, we've all come to understand the idiom "Spirit of Prophecy" to apply to Ellen White.

After extolling the virtues of love in I Cor 13, Paul goes on to encourage us to covet a spiritual gift: prophecy! 1Co 14:39 "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy..."

He defines the gift of prophecy, thusly, 1Co 14:3 "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort."

Using his own definition, we can answer the question as to whether Soo possesses the gift of prophecy that Paul would have us all to covet.

Should we feel threatened that the authoritative (Fund Bel #17) position of Ellen White in the Adventist church will be usurped? Not at all!

In fact, Paul says in 1Co 14:31 "For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted." This may actually be limited to two or three people with the spiritual gift of prophecy, rather than the entire congregation, as implied in 1Co 14:29 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge."

Quote:

The angel then gave Soo information that to her was puzzling. He told her when she went to America that something bad was going to happen. However, the angels were going to hold the winds and the gospel would spread to the all world. He said that in 2005 something bigger would happen in America and that the Sunday law would come in after that. Soo asked him “What is Sunday law?” His answer made it no clearer to her; “Good people work in government, but they work for evil. Watch the news.”

This is pretty specific. So, unless we see a Sunday law come into effect either late 2005 or sometime in 2006, I think we can pretty much see this as a fraud.

If I were to be prophetic I would say we will some some apologetics along the same line as those for Ellen White. Like these predictions are conditional, a prophet doesn't really predict things, is a guide, etc. etc.

It is also interesting that she was specific to the King James Bible as the proper Bible to translate to Laos. This translation has over 2000 words that mean different things than when it was first written. It also was translated, not from the Greek, but from the Latin Vulgate. It seems unlikely that this particular translation would be chosen when we have so many better ones.

The idea that Heaven sings What a Friend we have in Jesus and Rock of Ages seems rather culturally biased. I think we can wait and see how this plays out....
