Nicodema Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Hi LHC, Some of your post was a little beyond my understanding. Could you please help me make a practical application of what you said to the parts of mine you were responding to? Thanks so much! Nico Edit: let me clarify: Quote: I'm of the same opinion, Nico. But I do make an effort to understand those individuals who seem to put the enemy of souls on a par with God's power of righteousness, only in the kingdom of darkness. This I interpret to mean those who think the enemy is everywhere working in and through everything and has greater power than we attribute to him. Quote: I'm also of the opinion that is changing within the Adventist communion, albeit ever so slowly except for the grace of God. Some areas more than others. This I interpret to refer to moving from a more paranoid "demons in everything that isn't Christian" view to a different stance that accepts cultural variances in literature, music, art, etc. without needing to see the devil directly active in them just because they have non-Christian references or overtones, especially those of the fantasy genre. Quote: We still do have an enemy that is very subtle. When Jesus faced the cross it was for Judas Iscariot, even though He knew Judas was diametrically opposed to God's plan of salvation. I guess this is the part I need help understanding -- I didn't see how the truth of what you were saying in these sentences applied to the topic at hand. N. Nicodema Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Quote: OTOH my understanding of the appendix is that it takes poison into itself to protect the body from what could lead to death. The only reason for it's removal is because man hasn't yet figured out its best purpose, and continues to load it up with poison until they get rid of the warning flag, leaving the body to die of something else. Sounds like a logical formula for present day reasoning, much like the lukewarm's acceptance of people like Soo who are another of God' effort's to reach the lost before it's too late. I don't see how anyone could not be excited and cut to the quick all at once to see her news. We know Jesus is coming. We can see the signs being fulfilled all around us in startling and dramatic ways never before dreamt. We all know the late 1980s and 1990s were a TOTAL "lull" period on that front, other than perhaps the collapse of communism (no small feat, that). Now here in the United States all the legislative groundwork has been laid for the Beast to rise and do its thing. Whether it ends up being Bush's administration or someone else is immaterial at this point. The legislation that breaks through the protective wall of our Constitution is ALREADY IN PLACE with the PATRIOT Act, TIA (see how their original controversial logo morphs into a new sanitized version! When they first came out with the TIA logo we were all shocked how blatant it was -- wondering WHAT were they thinking, tipping their hand so boldly???) -- []http://www.aclu.org/images/client/TIA_morph.gif[/] -- "MATRIX", and other measures designed to maximize intrusive use of force and authority as well as intrusion against privacy against common citizens -- tracking what we do in all walks of our life. Anyway when I read Soo's story my heart leapt up inside and pounded at me. I was consumed with both excitement and fear -- excitement that someone with no axe to grind could have perceived the movements that are rapid ones as I have perceived them and known what they mean -- without having any way of knowing other than her angel. And fear that I would be found not ready when He comes. I don't like that fear, frankly. I don't know what to do with it. I don't even know if it's healthy or not. I don't think people can or should be "scared" into the kingdom. However, sometimes fear can be like a little shock from a cattle prod to jolt us out of complacency, and in that respect it could be useful. I don't want to be complacent and take it for granted. Mostly what I find myself afraid of is that my life will have been a waste, that so many who could have known Christ did not because I failed in my duty and my mission for Him, a thing for which I deserve nothing but condemnation and to be shut out from His kingdom. I deserve nothing but that anyway for having been a traitor against Him for some 20 years and STILL being stupid enough to feel like I want to play with Satan's fire when I get the chance to be free. I can only throw myself on His mercy and know He understands my weakness and still loves me. I have nothing else to go by, nothing else on which to pin any hope, certainly not my own character or how good I can behave now that I know He is Lord, because I am neither strong in character nor am I a "good" person. I must trust wholly in His mercy or perish. I might trust wholly in His mercy and STILL perish. My perishing might be all He has for me IN His mercy. He is still Lord, and even if He burns me I will run to Him. "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him." -- Job, somewhere. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot

I would need you to guide/train me in the proper procedure of doing so on the forum here for our Friday Evening Interviews and give me clear guidelines of what is and is not acceptable so I can moderate properly -- unless you just wanted someone to set it up and you'd take it from there? -- and guidelines on what to say in the initial contact letter, etc. I would want to do it "right" by C/A standards. Nicodema Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Quote: Quote: The angel then gave Soo information that to her was puzzling. He told her when she went to America that something bad was going to happen. However, the angels were going to hold the winds and the gospel would spread to the all world. He said that in 2005 something bigger would happen in America and that the Sunday law would come in after that. Soo asked him “What is Sunday law?” His answer made it no clearer to her; “Good people work in government, but they work for evil. Watch the news.” This is pretty specific. So, unless we see a Sunday law come into effect either late 2005 or sometime in 2006, I think we can pretty much see this as a fraud. It IS specific -- but notice it is open-ended: "come in after that" can mean anything -- a year, five years, ten? -- so not happening in 2005-2006 would technically not necessarily indicate fraudulence. I personally don't think it will be that long but I have NOT been given a prophetic vision to show me when it will be, so I can only guess based on watching politics & stuff unfold around me! I think the real question to ask is whether anyone stands anything to gain from "propping up" an "innocent" like this. Her experience, for her, is what it is, but for us it becomes what we make of it. For her I see it as an urgent call to do a work for her people. I see elements designed specifically to solicit our (SDA) immediate attention who might assist her in doing that work, elements that pander to OUR cultural quirks and fondnesses. Perhaps that is deliberate merely to get our attention and elicit our cooperation. Is that duplicitous on the part of heaven? When we understand that good deeds from a heart of love supersede the letter of the law, then no, the end can be seen to justify the means. We know nothing of life IN heaven, do we, that we can state for sure whether songs like "Rock of Ages" are or are not sung there, nor even whether they may or may not have originated there and been conveyed to earth by unseen messengers bringing melodies to musicians like ancient muses. That's just my simple take on it. I "want" to believe, but I don't "need" to. My faith in Christ does not depend on whether Soo is a "real prophet" or not. I'm inclined to accept what I see that is good: by whatever means, God is at work for peoples who do not yet know Him, and it also does not escape me that their form of Buddhism includes recognitions of Someone who could be attributed to Jesus Christ, too! Neil D Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Since I made a comment that stated that Soo's prophecy interested me, I thought that my comment would direct this forum into investigating Soo's prophecy for relivancy and realism. Apparently, thru some banter between Shane and others, MY words became the subject of 'prophecy'....much to my horror and shame.... Shame because the context of my words were- Quote: ”I have to admit...the "good men in goverment will do evil" statement made me set up and take notice...“ and in the context of Soo's words- Quote: On the last visit of the angel to her, she was told that something would happen in 2005 and then there would be a Sunday Law. She asked what that was but didn’t understand when she was told, “Good people work for the government but they will work evil. Watch the news.” it becomes apparent that I shorten her words, and could possibly have changed the meaning of them. "Good people work for the government but they will work evil." You all realize that there are some good people in goverment, right? You all realize that they are there because they believe that God wants them there, right? You all realize that there are some good people in goverment who don't realize that God has called them there, right? You all realize that there are some bad people in goverment who put loyalty to elected people in office above the office itself, right? You all realize the difference between loyalty to goverement and loyalty to elected individuals, right? You all know who can be concidered 'good people" and who can be concidered "bad people", right? Because if you dont, then I guarentee that you have no idea what I am talking about, and especially what I meant when I said- Quote: ”I have to admit...the "good men in goverment will do evil" statement made me set up and take notice.... “ To my horror, was the baiting of Shane's words and his putting words into my mouth based upon what HE thinks that I think.... Fran Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I did get some current information about Soo through Steve. He has an email communication with Ethel Price. He received this email from Ethel on January 25. Quote: Hello all, I thought you might enjoy reading the latest word on Soo. We're in 2005. "Come, Lord Jesus!" This was sent from Ethel Price. Pastor Steve Quote: Good morning! I just had a long conversation with Soo...by the way her English keeps improving, we had little trouble today, Praise the Lord! Soo says she is "strong" and thanks you for your prayers or her...they are making her strong. She says she "loves you", her brothers and sisters. When I called this morning (about 9:30 pm her time) she was just returning from studying the Bible with one person. She said she had studied with three more people earlier in the day. There are six or seven people that are asking for Bibles, but no money in the church to provide them, so Soo would like to help them get Bibles. She says her church needs help, also, and she wants to help them with Bibles and other needs. Soo is reading her English Bible as she gave away her Lao Bible already. I asked her if she knew how much Bibles cost there, but she did not. When "Max" goes (on February 8 instead of 10) he will find out all these details. She is so looking forward to the guidance he and Pastor Rungsit, and others, will be able to provide her in her mission. Last Sabbath there was a visitor at her church in Vientiane to surprise her...Pastor Dan Walter. She was so happy to talk with him, and is looking forward to seeing the Mission President, Pastor Rungsit, as he plans to visit mid-February. Soo says the Steps to Christ is already printed. Since I sent the e-mail to her nephew that quoted the very high prices to me, saying that we could not afford such high prices, it seems to have come down. She tells me the 3,000 are now printed and for $2,000. I am hoping and praying she has her numbers straight...Max will find out for sure before they are paid for. She says the Great Controversy has about 10 more chapters to finish translating, and the Desire of Ages is not finished, either, but in progress. It is a Buddhist that is doing the translating and I have very clearly explained to her that they must be read by a Seventh-day Adventist person who knows what these books should say to be sure they are correct. I am praying that Pastor Rungsit can help with that part of it. She knows that she is to work with him and with the government, so the books are printed legally. She says the Steps to Christ has been printed on a government press so they will be legal. She is anxious to get the books as some are asking for them! I told her patience is one of the gifts Jesus gives us. : ) Soo has also been helping sick people. She does some hydrotherapy, though she says she doesn't know much, and tells them not to eat pork. I asked her "aren't Buddhists vegetarian?" She replied that many do not know or follow those guidelines. There is much pork use in her country. NOW I understand why the angel sent her to a school to learn health principles! She will be coming back to America by summer, Lord willing, to speak at churches and wherever she is invited. If you would like her to speak at your church, you may make those arrangements through us at The Omega Project Ministries. Please plan to provide her transportation and costs. Soo and I discussed the need for funds to build something modest for caring for the needy in her country. She says building costs are high...but I will be waiting for a report from Max who has a very good business ability. Be sure to check the prayer partners page often, as names and requests are added daily. We still need prayer partners in many countries and times zones. Find the prayer page at www.OmegaProjectMinistries.org . I was so thrilled to hear her courage in the Lord. She sounded much less fearful and uncertain about what to do and is learning how to work with her church family there. Your prayers are being answered...keep praying! I also enjoyed talking for a few minutes with several family members that answered the phone. I told her to tell them hello from America and that I loved them...because I love her. God bless your day with Him, Ethel Quote The greatest want of the world is the want of men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true & honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty..., men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.{Ed 57.3}

Rosie Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 Thank so much for the news, Fran. Please do keep us updated! I've been sharing the links with people in my own church, for no one has even heard of Soo that I've talked to so far. Our Pastor has been gone for a couple of weeks, though and he's usually pretty up to date on news. I'm going to see if he knows anything more. Dr. Shane Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 So what are you saying, Sister Amelia? It was either an angel of God, angel of Satan or Soo is just lying about it. The Biblical method is to test all spirits and see if they contradict any previous truth. Does the messeage this "angel" gave Soo contradict any previous truth? Not that I have seen but I need to see more. I think she said Mark Finely's face turned pale when he saw his name on the list. It would be interesting to get his take on all this. Imagine God sending an angel to someone and giving them your name. We have all heard that God knows each of our names and the number of hairs on our head but to be confronted with it in such a manner would be powerful enough to make one turn pale. Amelia Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Im not saying she's lying. I guess Im just that kind of person. One who doesnt leap on the bandwagon its first pass around. (even Jesus allowed Thomas his doubts) Took me a while to accept EGW even after becoming an SDA. The bible holds the test of a prophet. Does she pass the test? I think its early days yet. Nicodema Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Well I don't know about sensationalism or what, but I'm listening to the guy preach right now on 3ABN (over the internet) and he's seriously preaching it! The topic is Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel ch. 4) and he's talking about how many are "little nebuchadnezzars" and how pride gets us into trouble, and all these different manifestations of pride and what a mess it makes. One thing he preached hard about was how arrogant it is for us to think we can take up arms and force other countries to have freedom and democracy, that they must choose that for themselves! That made me sit up and take notice. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
