Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 Both of you need to study the Sabbath School lesson for this past week which describes the difference between sin of ignorance (Nov. 3) and sins of defiance (Nov. 4). Check it out. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 RW or I are not arguing for continuing in a life of 'do anything', while claiming to accept the salvation of Christs death. To assume that is what the issue is at hand would be, in my mind, a gross assumption for sake of argument. I simply believe that it is impossible to not ever sin again at some point in life. We know what the Bible says about the person who claims that...no truth in them. My question is not being directly answered, I ever mentioned anything about disfellowship, just an honest question...Who is not sinning?Matters not if once a year or every other year, we still be sinning! Have you studied and do you believe the fundamental doctrines regarding the Investigative Judgment? Check this out carefully: Quote: In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgement.—Fundamental Beliefs, 10 There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross. He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His intercessory ministry at the time of His ascension. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the heavenly things are purified with the perfect sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus. It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom. The completion of this ministry of Christ will mark the close of human probation before the Second Advent.—Fundamental Beliefs, 23 Notice that it speaks of those who are abiding in Christ and keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and are therefore ready for translation. Our church-- and the Bible, of course-- teaches that believers may keep the commandments with the power of the Holy Spirit. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 Don't be fooled. Even ONE sin can keep you from heaven. You are misquoting. She says that even one sin that is unrepented of and unconfessed will keep anyone from heaven. She is talking about sins that people hold on to, or covet. Sin that people refuse to surrender and allow Christ to cleanse us of. 1 John 1: 5-10. Do you believe this? I do. Remember that sins that we truly repent of, we will not continue to commit. The Bible calls for us not only to confess them but to turn away from them and to cease to commit them. Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 Of course sin is sin. No one is saying anything different. You seem to have a hard time grasping these concepts. All sin is sin but both the Bible and Ellen White say that God does not view all sins exactly alike. Again, David sinned before he murdered Uriah but God only punished him severely for deliberate, willful sins of murdering Uriah and numbering the people. Clearly God made a distinction. Ellen White also writes about sins of defiance and sins of ignorance. See the Sabbath School lessons for last week. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Woody Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 John. What you fail to grasp is that ANY sin will keep you from heaven. You can't just hold onto those sins that you deem of less importance. This is the teachings of the Devil. Sin is sin. There is no excuse for ANY sins. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 Trying to excuse you sins and say they are of lesser importance so not to worry ... is something to worry about. I've already made it abundantly clear for years that I am not attempting to excuse any sins. All sins are sins, but God does not view all sin in the same way, nor are people guilty to the same degree. As long as you are quoting what Ellen White says on the subject, you might as well include this one: Quote: God does not regard all sins as of equal magnitude; there are degrees of guilt in His estimation, as well as in that of man; but however trifling this or that wrong act may seem in the eyes of men, no sin is small in the sight of God. Man's judgment is partial, imperfect; but God estimates all things as they really are.SC 30 Check out the Comprehensive Index of Ellen White on the subject of sin, and you will see that there are such things as sins of presumption. Have you heard of this kind of sin? It is where people presume on God's grace in order to keep committing sin and think that Christ's blood will enable them to be saved while sinning deliberately and willfully. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Woody Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Again ... you are getting off topic. That is not what we are addressing here. NO one is questioning that there are degrees of sin. But what you fail to grasp is that ANY sin of ANY degree will keep you out of Heaven. An attempt to belittle certain sins and claim that you don't have to get victory over them ... is a teaching of the Devil. But we were told in the end days that this type of preaching would come. However ... we are to reject this heresy. Since the laws of nature are the laws of God, it is plainly our duty to give these laws careful study. We should study their requirements in regard to our own bodies, and conform to them. Ignorance in these things is sin. {CD 18.2} " When the Father gave His Son to live and die for man, He placed all the treasures of heaven at our disposal. There is no excuse for sin. God has given us all the advantages He possibly could give, that we may have strength to withstand the temptations of the enemy." {TDG 318.3} Please ... it hurts my ears when I read of an attempt to limit God. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
LifeHiscost Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 "In the eyes of God" and "becoming one" are a polite ways of saying that they have physically joined their bodies by having sex. A man and a woman living together without ever having had sex are not married "in the eyes of God." On the current topic, should the church disfellowship a couple living together in a jurisdiction where common law marriage is recognized? What is common law marriage but simple recognizing that marriage "in the eyes of God" is indeed all it takes. Tom If the conclusion, "having sex means being married", were true, there wouldn't be much reason fr this injunction, would there? "Flee fornication. Every other sin which a man doeth is outside the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body."1 Cor 6:18 21st Century KJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators John317 Posted November 11, 2009 Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 John. What you fail to grasp is that ANY sin will keep you from heaven. You can't just hold onto those sins that you deem of less importance. This is the teachings of the Devil. Sin is sin. There is no excuse for ANY sins. Yes, I know there's no excuse for any sin, and I have never said that there is an excuse. This is precisely what I have been saying for about 5 years now, but you keep saying that no sin will keep you out because you are "saved". You are the one is holding on to sins, by your own admission over and over again. You have even said that you plan to keep sinning and that you will not accept and use God's power to overcome sin but that you will keep sinning until the day you die. Despite this decision on your part to continue to choose sin, you claim that God will save you in his kingdom. Therefore, it is you who are failing to grasp that ANY sin will keep you from heaven. It's important to remember that Ellen White does not just say "any sin" but any sin that is unconfessed and unrepented of. To believe in this way is the sin that Ellen White calls "presumption." As for whether all sins are the very same, the Bible and Ellen White clearly deny that all sin is equally evil. Obviously the intentional murder of thousands of people is far worse than eating pork without realizing it's wrong to do it. Read again please: Quote: God does not regard all sins as of equal magnitude; there are degrees of guilt in His estimation, as well as in that of man; but however trifling this or that wrong act may seem in the eyes of men, no sin is small in the sight of God. Man's judgment is partial, imperfect; but God estimates all things as they really are.SC 30 Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
