They were able to hire a bunch of immigrate labor and are highly successful. Bilingual is the key word. One bilingual worker would not have solved the problem with those that did not speak english. When you are in and out of 8-10 homes per day,there had to be one employee that spoke english per home. Any competitor would face the same issue. Immigrants were paid same as any US citizen.They needed to speak english regardless of any other language they spoke. What language would you hire a bilingual or interpreter for? We have Hmong,Somalia,Hindu,Hispanic.Should we hire someone that spoke each of these languages? You would need two employee's per home which would be cost prohibitive.
