No no puedo.

How can he be paid in the US at a large hotel without a valid Social Security # for tax purposes if he is an illegal alien?

I don't really know anything about that.

I used to guide illegal aliens around the border patrol near the Southern Pacific train tracks where I lived.

I do, though, strongly favor the federal government enforcing our immigration laws, but I'm not about to turn in members of my family simply for living here. It would be different if he was committing a violent crime or hurting someone, but this man is only here to help support his family.

I would report murderers and thugs in a heartbeat, but never a relative or any other person who is working hard to help wife and kids. That is the job of the border patrol and I'm not obligated help them arrest people. So if anyone wants to say I am condoning crime in that sense, it is fine with me.

It is no crime not to report illegal aliens, and I don't believe we are morally required to do it, either. That would like requiring us to report speeding cars or people who go through red lights.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

The little boy I talked about died in the hospital because the American doctors misdiagnosed his illness.

In Mexico the doctors misdiagnosed his cancer. He was brought to the doctors in the US, who gave him good treatment for the cancer. (The children's hospital even provided for him to go to Disneyland.) But then a couple of years after his cancer went into remission, the doctors didn't realize he had appendicitis until he died from it. His mother called me a few minutes after he died and told me they asked her if it was OK for them to give him an enema, and she said to go ahead. But shortly after they gave it to him, his appendix ruptured and he died. I suggested that they sue the hospital because it was a clear case of medical malpractice, but the parents said they aren't interested in the money or in suing the hospital.

It was a clear case of medical malpractice because the boy had all the classic symptoms of appendicitis. I don't know why they missed it. They didn't take X-rays like they should have, until it was too late. But this happens in even the best hospitals sometimes. Something similar almost took my dad's life at the Loma Linda U. Medical Center.

Neither Caesar's nor God's law requires me to turn in people for living here without papers.

Would you report this person to the border patrol if you knew his name and address?

Or, you know, perhaps rudywoofs failed to make the distinction between 'Spanish-speaking immigrants' and 'Spanish-speaking citizens'. Many of the latter group are quite wealthy.

You are correct. They have been given free money to live, free food and free education so they could learn English. While if we go to another country, we are expected to learn the language of that country in order to even order food at any establishment. Are we receiving money for anything when we go to their country? No.

I guess some people do not understand the situation we are in with immingrants especially those of Spanish speaking people. Remember what God did when the people were building a tower high enough to reach heaven.

God confused the people by giving them different language. It is going to be like that in this country unless we do some thing about the situation.

I will stay depending on how this conversation continues. I do not enjoy the fact of those who have strong opinions degrading those of us who also have strong opinions. Just because we would like people who come to our country of their own free will learn the language of our country so they can prosper and be productive members of society.

The ignorance level is high. I have learned Spanish. If I went to their country I would be able to communicate and also be able to get a job should I choose to live there. LEGALLY of course. For people who have blinders on they really need to take them off and realize that in order to be productive in any country, be it Russia, Turkey, Europe, and of course USA, you need to learn the language. To not learn something because it is too difficult, or no desire is just plain stupid. IN MY OPINION.

There is love and there tough love. For our children to mind and learn morals, standards, manners we must practice tough love. If we don't then we are responsible for their actions later on in life.

If we do not practice tough love, then we will see what we are seeing in America now. Murders, rapes, theft, low morals and self gratification.

Everything is made into a racial issue or cold hearted conservatives.

Continued dependence breeds contempt and animosity. Doing what you can to encourage not learning the languages is just another way of keeping a group of people dependent.

The old race card is hauled out to intimidate others into silence.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

It's quite true that people generally get better treatment in the US than they do in Mexico & in many other countries. We are blessed as a nation like no other nation on the face of the earth. According to Ellen White, that blessing won't last forever. We need to take advantage of it to spread the Good News while we have the freedom and prosperty to do it. And compared to what will happen in the future, we still do have great prosperity and freedom.

It's OK to express strong opinions as long as members don't attack or degrade people personally or call names, etc.

If that happens, it is best to send me or other moderators a PM rather than attack back in the same manner that you feel you've been attacked.

The immigrant worker is a hard, effective worker. American companies love them. They love them so much the come down to border towns and recruit them. The first generation is very hard working perhaps because they come from such an economic oppressive society. Those that learn the language get ahead in the business world.

Unlike the German and Italian immigrants of the past century, the Mexican's homeland is next door. The second and third generation immigrants continue to speak Spanish. Spanish TV networks and churches are all across the nation. Spanish music can be found on the radio dial in almost every major US city. Spanish is not dwindling in the US. It is growing.

Americans can either get on the Spanish-speaking wave or get left behind. Our church knows this and is headed in the right direction. Praise be to God that our leadership gets it.

I do not believe that anyone has said that the immigrant whether or not he is legal is not a hard effective worker. I know for a fact that companies DO love to hire immigrants. They can abuse their rights to them because they do not know the English language and can exploit them.

As I stated before, I work in a factory who employs immigrants mostly because of the fact they can get away with so much more with them than they can their American counterparts.

Odd how immigrants in countries like Germany, Romania and Yugoslavia learn the language if for no other reason than to know their rights. They do not want to be exploited in America while the Spanish speaking counterparts would rather be exploited because they do not know English. In my factory we have from Russia, to Vietnam employees. The only and I DO MEAN ONLY ones who have not learned and have no desire to learn English for some reason is the Spanish speaking immigrants. What about the other immigrants who learn English? Are we to learn Chinese, Thai languages as well as Spanish? What a load we put on American so that these immigrants can move here, use our tax dollars, get free medical, education and whatever they can get for free while our own are suffering on our streets of America.

That is not odd. Those countries are not America. They are not the land of the free and home of the brave. America is a nation of immigrants and has no official language. America is all about opportunity and freedom. We give immigrants the opportunity to learn English but the freedom not to.

Our welfare programs are made available based on income level. Immigrants are not discriminated against. However they are not given benefits just because they are immigrants. They have to meet the same qualifications as anyone else applying for help.

Now we can argue about welfare and whether or not it should exist. That is a separate debate. However if we are going to give welfare benefits to the poor, we shouldn't discriminate against certain classes of people because of the language they speak or their country of origin.

I never had to prove I was here legally. I collected food stamps and other assistance when I was in college. I just had to prove my income and my current address.

There is good reason that we don't have to prove we are here legally. If our county welfare offices become immigration enforcement offices, the immigrants will not seek help when they need it. That means we will have immigrants dying from simple infections like strep throat.

Again, if we want to debate the welfare system that is a different debate. As long as we have it, it needs to be available to everyone here. We certainly don't need our local counties doing the federal government's job of immigration enforcement.
