Inflate and Inflame are two different words. Inflamation usually has to do with infection.

Just a thought...

I too was going to point that out, when I saw Woody switch from inflame to inflate, as if they were the same word.

But you beat me to it. Great minds think alike. bwink

To inflate is to inflame or cause inflammation. When you inflate a balloon with air .... it causes inflammation of the balloon. There are many kinds of inflammation. Air, Water, Blood. But the result is the same ... something gets stretched out of proper perspective or appearance.

Where's dAb when you need him. I consider him to be the resident expert in his field. I will submit to his ruling. Will you?

That's why Christ said that you will know them by their love. It's hard to know anything outside of love. Love is the only thing that's certain. Everything else is rather fake.

Many people such as yourself hold the Church to standards that they themselves can hardly practice. Not to say that you are not a loving person; just that pronouncing this about an entire church body as you do is quite wrong. I see the unloveing in our's AND other Church denominations too; but it does not follow that the majority are like this or that the church is "wrong."

Quote:
I KNOW when people truly love me and when they are fake. I KNOW when people are hard on me when they love me, or when they hard on me because they want me to be a carbon copy of themselves.

Remnant loves... not merely observes the Sabbath. Sabbath without love is just a clock ticking.

So, if you want one sign of remnanatis, that would be proud self-inclusion of oneself in the group of "remnant people" without following the attitude of love and service that underline such group.

So now you appoint yourself as someone who KNOWS who is "clock-ticking" and who is not? And you KNOW for sure who all "exhibits the attitude" you prescribe? Great. We will all follow you and your advice on this and then we will be filled with so much light that Jesus will have to come.

I find your thoughts here to be very judgmental; ...

this is a very good example of how differently a post can be read. i didnt see anything judgmental at all in the thoughts expressed

Wrong again Woody. In this case, dictionary.com is your enemy.

This I DO know: The suffix -itis means inflammation. So the word at present is Remnant Inflammation. Are we in agreement with this so far?

Woody is spot on in his definition of remnantitis--an inflammation caused by inflated (religious egos).

Much ado about nothing... Either way it works. A distinction without much difference for the purpose of the discussion here.

Some merely have an over-inflated sense of themselves, while others are inflamed with self. Still within the spectrum of the idea, I would say.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Well that WAS what I was TRYING to say but others got me hung up on definitions. I like the way you have summarized it best.

I told this story before but it bears repeating.

Last year I went to an Adventist Church and across the street was a Sunday Keeping Church called the Remnant Church.

Folks .... we are not alone in this condition of Remnantitis.

It afflicts many churches.

Obviously, you went to the wrong church, woody.

Understand that Woody has a certain way with words.

How many do you know who looks at the Bible as a collection of verses?

The chapters and verses were invented for convenience, not to treat Scriptures as just a collection of chapters and verses.

Would this not then be considered a Bible Study group?

I just dunno. But I'm getting a case of rhinitis.

I think my allergies are getting worse when I come here. It's becoming bad for my health. Do we have any doctors who could tell me where to go and what to do for my ailment?

Btw ... there are a number of our top theologians such has Jon Paulien ... who have some good ways of explaining the Remnant business. I heard Jon on his Hope Channel show. Can't remember the ins and outs right now ... but it made good sense.

The Remnant IS a Bible doctrine. But like every significant doctrine, the devil likes to pervert it

so that people will turn against it.

Yes Gerry. I do agree with you. There certainly has been a history of perversion.

Did he say that all SDAs part of the Remnant? Is it just a matter of belonging to an organization?

John 3:16-17

From what I've always heard, is that the Bible speaks of a Remnant. So as far as that is concerned I don't see any problems. And like Woody mentioned about one Theologian Jon speaks to this and I believe many others do also. Not just the big wigs but the ordanary small time pastor also.:)

For me it looks like as far as the last organizational Church seems to be the Adventist church. Also heard a sermon by John Carter and he went through all the different churches and what they brought to the table, and it made pretty good sense. Now this doesn't mean that there might not be someone after but as of right now I'd say we are the last church, which would make us the remnant church. As far as a remnant at the close of earth's history I believe there will be people from all walks of life and all different denomination's included in that. Just a few thoughts on this.
