Twilight, I am not going to discuss this with you, it is pointless. You don't accept that Acts 8 means anything, and you think that God writing His law in our hearts happens invisibly. I disagree. No point arguing.

The problem you have here is that you are looking for all sorts of external signs to prove you have the Holy Spirit.

Whereas God has been very specific about what those signs are.

Whilst you allow yourself to be fooled into thinking that making "noises" makes you "holy", you will not be able to understand the simplest things about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom of God.

You are so fixated on "tongues" that you do not know the most basic things about the work of the Holy Spirit...

And clearly you do not understand the new covenant if you think you can be so dismissive of the Sabbath.

The fourth commandment.

Why is it that you dismiss one of Gods commandments out of hand, whilst at the same time lift up "making noises" in church as something of importance?

"You are so fixated on "tongues" that you do not know the most basic things about the work of the Holy Spirit..."

You are wildly fixated with me. Why ?

Actually, as I've said, I came to this position after fighting it for months, insisting that 1 Cor 12-14 says only some speak in tongues ( as I've said, everyone sees what they believe in those verses ) and determined to be saved without evidence. God broke me down because in the end, I had to accept what He said and not what I thought. But, my experience means nothing, even if you were right. The Bible is all that matters.

"Why is it that you dismiss one of Gods commandments out of hand, whilst at the same time lift up "making noises" in church as something of importance?"

I do not reject anything God said, I just understand and read the whole Bible. I don't lift it up any more than Paul does in 1 Cor 12-14, three chapters written to put languages understood only by God in their proper place in the church.

What do you consider more important?

Speaking in "tongues" (that are not a real human language - just noises).

Or Gods Commandments?

God broke me down because in the end, I had to accept what He said and not what I thought. But, my experience means nothing, even if you were right. The Bible is all that matters.

It isn't God who has broken you down.

And I say this with sadness.

People get addicted to emotional rushes, such as engendered by pagan tongues pretending to be the gift of languages.

They also get addicted to the idea that they are saved because of it, and then pride can creep in because they think they are superior to others.

Very damaging belief system.

Then they think they need to make everyone else make "strange noises" in church, or they cannot be saved.

What a ridiculous load of nonsense.

The Bible does not make the claims you make.

You are using difficult texts to prove your doctrine, whilst ignoring the plain ones that clearly define what tongues is.

I have met people like you before, they all want to be a "prophet".

They all have that glint of spiritual pride because they are "special" because they make strange noises.

And you cannot reason with them, because they are enlightened and you are not.

It is all "pride", nothing more, nothing less.

Pride.

And the above post is given with much sadness.

As I sense there is a genuineness about your desire to walk with God.

You have however been deceived into something that is not from God.

Which is more important, the fruits of the Spirit, or the gifts ?

My answer is that everything God does is equally important.

Of course. I've never said the 10 commandments are done away with, only that they are fulfilled. No-one has really answered me on why all the commandments on what NOT to do to your neighbour are replaced with loving him as yourself, but hte sabbath stayed the same.

Q.E.D. I am still amused that you think the fruits of the spirit are arrogance and sarcasm. However

"Beware of the Coming National Sunday Law . . .666"

This is a view I'd like to explore more. I actually know SDA people who confess to me they can see how ridiculous this belief is, but they feel they have to believe it because their parents do.

And likewise I am amused that you think the fruit of the Spirit is mindless incoherent babbling. I dare say that I can out babble you anytime. It does NOT take the Holy Spirit to babble and I am proof of that. Speaking in tongues is no more than "play religion" for the emotionally unstable.

It doesn't really matter whether you know Seventh-day Adventists or the Pope of Rome. Those that deny the certainty of the Coming National Sunday law are in great error.

The antideluvians thought Noah was a fool and look where they ended up. . .food for crabs.

Here kitty, kitty. . .Come a little closer now. . .

I knew I'd never drink again, something your gospel could not deliver me from, no matter how much faith I had in it.

Interesting assumption...

I have been delivered from alchohol and drugs by the Lord.

As have many others on here.

How does that fit into your claim above?

That's easy. Some people just need the support of a peer group and values that don't include drinking. That's why AA also works. But, some people are weak in themselves and no amount of positive peer pressure will help them, without the power of God.

Of course, we're deriving doctrine from experience now, and I am unhappy with that path. Nothing I say means anything without the Bible backing it up. But, that was my experience.

But you made a very explicit claim.

That SDA doctrine cannot deliver someone from Alchohol etc.

What is interesting however is that SDA doctrine is one of the few places where overcoming by the Power of God is found.

Most churches do not think you have to overcome sin...

Most churches teach that you can ignore the commandments of God and they do not have to be manifested in your life..

So your assertion is totally incorrect.

And you clearly do not understand SDA doctrine if you think the above is correct.

Oh gosh. It's like you've not read my posts. The Sabbath is fulfilled by the rest that I have in Christ every day. He came to give me rest, a new rest. He didn't come so that no shops would open on a Saturday, He came to give me something better than purely natural rest.

So, yes the concept still stands. It's just been made complete.

So you haven't received the New Covenant promises then?

All of this boasting of tongues in your life, yet you do not understand the New Covenant?

I have no idea what you're trying to say here. At the core, if you think I am 'boasting' then you are illiterate and we should stop talking.

Once again, it seems that the fruits of the SDA are sarcasm and arrogance. I'd rather draw this to a close, I think it's clear to the casual reader who it is that is hurling insults and using anything but the Bible to justify themselves. I am sad for you.

Awwww. . .Don't be sad. Does it hurt and have a temperature?

I just noticed that you're relatively new here. Perhaps you're new to the internet. Natural people often find that, without the Spirit to guide them, they get lost in the ability to try to look big by hurling insults on the web. This is especially true of physically weak people who got beat up as kids, and finally find a playing field that works in their favour. I know you're not using a real name, so you don't have to worry about long term impact to your life of what you post. But, for all that, I do believe that your current attitude will pass, even if you never become a Christian. In the meantime, I'm not replying to you any more if you continue to post this way, but remember that your arrogance and your lack of love, joy, peace and longsuffering, reflect badly on the SDA, and make it harder for others here to present a good testimony of what the SDA is supposed to represent.

See, I don't expect you to care about this, but I preach quite a bit in my church, and one thing I try to warn people about is becoming complacent and ignorant, and believing stories we tell one another. What you're saying is a made up story that is believed only by the SDA. Most churches that don't have God's power, probably tell a similar story, it's a narrative to say that you're right, but if you spoke to people from other churches, you'd find it's not true. I've never been to a church that thinks you don't need to overcome sin.

Yes you do, you go to one every week.

God commanded you to remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it Holy.

Yet you think it is okay to break it.

Or deceive yourself you have another version of it, that suits you much better.

Which shows that Gods Law has not been written on your heart, if it was, you would call the Sabbath a delight.

You see, a love for the Sabbath is a gift from God.

You don't have it, so you cannot understand it.

All you can do is dismiss it.

Which clearly shows you do not even begin to understand the work of the Holy Spirit on your heart.

Why?

Because you sin by ignoring Gods express command and you teach others to do the same.

Yet you come here to enlighten us all about receiving the Holy Spirit and talking in funny noises?

When you do not even understand the basics?

Why should we listen to you, that teaches others it is okay to break Gods Law?

I know.

And that is the point.

You have come here to teach, when you should come here to learn.
