Pkrause, John317, Gibs, Bobryan, or any SDA.

Do any of you believe then that God the Father & God the Holy Spirit.....

...."Choose" to not sin, or, are those two Person's locked-in and must remain "God"?

The Father and the Holy Spirit only have one nature: God, divine. They were not tested by Satan, were they? It was not their work to come here as a man in order to undergo Satan's temptations and to die for us. That was the work of only one member of the Godhead. He alone took our human nature.

So the answer to your question is obvious:

God the Father and the Holy Spirit cannot possibly sin.

And Jesus Christ has also proved that He is completely settled forever into the truth and won't sin against His Father.

The question is not about God or Christ, but about us: Will we also become so completely settled into the truth that we can't be moved? Jesus is trying to bring us to that point.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

And the reason you say they cannot posibily sin is because they were not exposed to Lucifers sin tests...

Jesus began his public labor to save us, by meeting the enemy on the same ground of our failure. This prepared him to then challenge the enemy on our behalf in each day of his public ministry. he carried the victories won in the desert to others for the next years of his labor.

When we step up to the plate to stand in public ministry, the enemy comes to challenge us and we can stand as we meet the test in the Power Of Christs victory.

Christ entered the darkness and began dying thursday night, so it would have been the beginning of friday as the day began at sunset.

so he was suffering under the weight of sin for maybe 18 hours before he was crucified.

the enemy brought all the trials and beating and mockery because he had unlimited access to do whatever he wanted to to Christ but take his life. He was trying to drive Christ to depart from HGis father's will to sin, or to stop his sacrifice and leave us to perish.

Satan's death is bound up in someway to Christ's death. He saw his death that day. Christ was the first being in the entire universe to ever suffer eternal death from sin.

it was sin he was dying of while he endured all this mistreatment. It was the separation from His father he was enduring. He chose to endure this, to perish rather then return to heaven and live without us with him.

as a creation we are part of the ending of sin in the universe forever.

Interesting chart.

I just happened to be searching this topic earlier today and a thought just popped into my head.

A few weeks ago, I was listening to Dr. Veith's Total Onslaught Series. In the third lecture when he was talking about Jesus' crucifixion, He happened to mention that Jesus was put into a pit after His night trial and while waiting for His trial the next morning. I hadn't thought much more about it, until I was trying to reconcile the three days and three nights concept that Jesus talked about in Matthew 12:40, where He compared Jonah being in the belly of a great fish three days and three nights to Himself being in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

If Jesus really was in that pit in the basement of Caiaphas' house and stayed there overnight on Thursday, then He was in the heart of the earth for three nights. So for one night, He was in a dungeon and for the other two nights He was in the grave. I never found anywhere that the days had to consist of a complete set of 24 hours, so counting the two partial days of Friday and Sunday as whole days would mean He was in the heart of the earth for the three days of Friday, Sabbath, and Sunday and three nights starting Thursday night.

This new concept clicked in my head and makes perfect sense to me!

You cannot include Daytime Sunday. Jesus resurrected before sunrise.

Thursday Night - Night 1

Friday Night - Night 2

Saturday Night - Night 3

Friday Daytime - Day 1

Saturday Daytime - Day 2

2 days and 3 nights. Short by a daytime. Why the inconsistency? Because He neither died Friday nor resurrected Sunday. Sunday-keeping translators made it appear to be so, to give a semblance of Scriptural authority to Sunday-keeping.

Christ died Wednesday and resurrected early Saturday morning, according to unadulterated Scriptures. He was in the heart of the earth - in Death - 3 days and 3 nights as specified by our Lord Himself.

daytime Wednesday - day 1

daytime Thursday - day 2

daytime Friday - day 3

nighttime Wednesday - night 1

nighttime Thursday - night 2

nighttime Friday (includes early Saturday morning before sunrise) - night 3

Passover is a Full Moon feast (Num 9:2,3; Ps 81:3-5; Hebrew "keceh" which means "full moon"; translated in the KJV "time appointed"). Christ Who came to fulfill the law including the law on Passover, celebrated it with His disciples on a Full Moon. In AD 31, the first full moon after the vernal equinox started 11 AM and extended till Tuesday evening ( see full moon list). He was arrested that same night, and the rest is history.

Mr 16:9 ¶ Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Don't you know yet Samie some us do believe the Word of God.

Brothers, could you please just address the issue? How could Jesus celebrate Passover on a non-full moon night?

Proponents of Friday crucifixion in AD 31 believes the Passover month, Nisan or Abib, fell on April that year. Because they believe Jesus was crucified Friday, His Passover celebration must necessarily be Thursday evening. But Thursday evening was not Full Moon. Full Moon occurred the night before, on Wednesday evening, April 25, 31 AD. I don't believe our Lord will violate the Law He Himself said He came to fulfill, do you?

A Full Moon occurred Thursday evening, April 6, 30 AD. But it looks like Scriptures cannot allow the possibility Christ could have celebrated His last Passover on the night of April 6, 30 AD. Why?

Luke records that Jesus was baptized on the 15th year of Tiberius’ reign as Emperor (see Luke 3:1, 21). History has it that Tiberius started his reign 14 AD. His 15th year therefore is 28 AD. There is then no escaping that in consonance with Scripture specification, Christ was baptized in 28 AD, the 15th year of Tiberius’ reign. John bears witness that after His baptism, Jesus spent 3 Passovers including the one just before His crucifixion (see John 2:13; 6:4; 11:55). The Passover in 28 AD cannot possibly be counted, because the Jews start their religious year in the month of Nisan or Abib, the Passover month, and the Passover in 28 AD, in all probability, had already passed when Jesus was baptized. This can be gleaned from the fact that after His baptism, His first miracle done at Cana came a few days before a Passover feast (see John 2:11-13). Note, that Jesus, after His baptism, spent 40 days and 40 nights fasting. Therefore, more than a month had passed after His baptism before He attended the wedding in Cana which occurred before the first Passover He attended. Since Passover is in the first month, and the wedding in Cana occurred more than 40 days earlier, His baptism fell the year before.

Because Passover is an annual feast, the 3 possible Passover feasts Christ celebrated after His baptism in 28 AD, are those in 29, 30 & 31 AD. This makes evident that Thursday, April 6, 30 AD cannot qualify as candidate for Christ’s last Passover celebration, because it would only account for 2 Passover feasts attended by Jesus before His crucifixion as against the 3 Passover feasts recorded by John. Thursday, April 6, 30 AD therefore fails to pass the test of Scriptures.

WHO on earth disputes Jesus' passover was on a full moon night?

WHO on earth contends Jesus <<celebrate[d]>>, passover <<on a non-full moon night>>?!

But you are the one who speaks of just one night of passover as if IT HAD to have been the one full-moon night of Jesus’ last passover.

Of course, Passover is on one night. You never knew this, brother? How come? How can we intelligently discuss the bigger picture if you don't even know and understand the basic?

Gerhard,

Sorry to be misleading. I was referring to the style of the chart at the beginning of this thread, not the scriptures contained therein. By saying the chart was "interesting" definitely was not meant as an affirmation one way or the other of my opinion on what day of the week Jesus died, rather a comment on the chart's overall visual appearance.

This statement from Ellen White's book Desire of Ages on page 769 paragraph 2 is more clear about the day that Jesus died than any other single statement I have come across so far:

Quote:
the creation Sabbath, the day on which Jesus lay at rest in Joseph’s tomb, will still be a day of rest and rejoicing.
How could Jesus have died on any other day than a Friday if Matthew 16:21 says:

Quote:
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
and Mark 16:9 says:

Quote:
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.

<<Passover is on one night>>

Which day and which night or rather which night and which day of passover do you say was the full moon day.

First answer me that!

Is the whole <<Passover>>, <<on>>, <<one night>>, in other words, was the passover one night/day unit of a single day? Is that what you say? And is that what you imply, that this single day was the day that the moon was full?

Then WHICH day of: 1) the passover was it? and 2) of the week was it?

I know from previous encounters what your answers are going to be. But for the sake of orderly argument and perhaps for the sake of new-comers, the floor is yours.

Hi Bro Gerhard;

Have you ever tried persuading a neighbor's kid who believes in Santa Claus, that there's no Santa Claus? Am sort of in a similar situation. The only difference in our case is we have Scriptures to settle the issue.

I had already provided a lot of Scriptures that the 14th day of the first month at even is Passover. Here's Scriptures as to what comes right next:

Quote:
Leviticus 23:5-6 5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
Clearly, the Passover Feast is different from the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And yes, the Feast of Passover coincides with the start of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Quote:
Exodus 12:17-18 17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; ... 18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

Hi tigerwillow;

I am posting this for you to consider.

When did Jesus eat Passover with His disciples? Scriptures make clear that the eating of the Passover is on a Full Moon night. It is this Full Moon night that had to be ascertained and pinpointed because it is on this very same night when the Lord ate Passover with His disciples. Sister White herself attested to the fact that it was full moon when Christ, after eating the Passover meal, went to the Garden of Gethsemane:

Quote:
In company with His disciples, the Saviour slowly made His way to the garden of Gethsemane. The Passover moon, broad and full, shone from a cloudless sky. The city of pilgrims’ tents was hushed into silence. {DA 685.1}

Proponents of AD31 Friday crucifixion points to April 27, 31 AD as the crucifixion date. It would follow that Christ ate Passover with His disciples Thursday evening. But that night was not Full Moon. Insisting on a Friday crucifixion in AD31 will bring us to the inevitable conclusion Christ violated the Law He said He came to fulfill.

Proponents of AD30 Friday crucifixion points to Friday, April 7, 30 AD as crucifixion date, and Christ's eating of Passover with His disciples on Thursday evening, April 6, a Full Moon. However, as I had discussed in an earlier post, if this was Christ's last passover, then He would have attended only two Passovers during His entire ministry after His baptism in 28AD. But Scriptures record three Passovers (see John 2:13; 6:4; 11:55).

Moreover, a Friday crucifixion vis-a-vis a Sunday resurrection will yield only 2 days & 2 nights from Crucifixion to Resurrection as against the 3 days and 3 nights specified by our Lord Himself (Matt 12:40).

There is only ONE crucifixion date that satisfies Biblical specification of a) full moon Passover meal, and B) 3 days & 3 nights from Crucifixion to Resurrection. That date is March 28, 31 AD. Wednesday.

Tuesday evening, March 27 was Full Moon. He was crucified Wednesday. After 3 days & 3 nights, He rose from the grave, early Saturday morning, as Mark 16:9 Greek Scriptures specify that Jesus resurrected on "proi prote sabbatou" or "early morning of the chief sabbath".

"Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!” Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”

And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last." Mark 15:33-37 NKJV

http://brandplucked.webs.com/john1914sixthhour.htm

"Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.

But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”

So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe."Mark 16:1-11 NKJV

Replying to the OP. The questions don't give other possibilities. Because neither choice, as far as I can tell, are any good. Has anyone looked at the Jewish Calendar???? Take a look!!! The first two days of Pesach, are on Thursday and Friday of AD 30, which are April 4 and 5 respectively. Erev Peasach was on April 3, which would be Nissan 14. This is the day before the real Pesach takes place. The day of preparation for Pesach. Just a Jesus did, he had his disciples do, get the upper room ready.

Not sure what Adventists told you that 31 AD was the Crucixion, but if you check with the SDABC you will see that they talk about the baptism of Jesus taking place in AD 27 not AD 28 and the crucifixion being in AD 30. Like I said, check the Jewish Calendar and you will see it works out that Jesus and the Apostles had the Pesach meal and the foot washing etc. on Thursday, Jesus being crucified on Friday, resting on the Sabbath, and than being resurrected Sunday early in the morning.

It might be very wise also to check out that in that yr. and month, two passovers were observed by the different Jews with Christ and the ones not.

There were two methods used, one was inaccurate, Christ and those with Him used the accurate method.

Gerhard,

I believe you need to take some steps backwards on denying the Word of God is truth and telling anyone you find Mark 16:9 is a lying corruption. That is a very serious accusation, back off!

Hear Him Gerhard!

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

It is not for any of us to pick and choose of His Word of Truth, that, that or any is a lie!

When you deny that His Word is Truth, you are denying Him and don't forget it.

You better dig into why two Passovers were had that yr., why and which is correct.

Now you need to know this before you start, Christ and His had it right, those using the Babylonian method of determining the first day of the month were in error.

1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Read up,

There is no room for argument on this subject!,

Joh 19:31 ¶ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Joh 19:32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

Joh 19:33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

Joh 19:35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

Joh 19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

It's interesting to see those who consistently preach false doctrine now arguing among themselves as to what is truth while each one remains in his own special darkness.

I'll go make some popcorn... :)
