Soooooooo, what you are saying is that Walmart or any employer has no responsibility for the well-being of their employees even when they are raking billions in profit? That about sums it up Gerry, well said! The only responsibility that Walmart has towards the "well being" of their employees is what is required by law i.e. employment laws, fire and saftey codes, etc. It is not illegal for Walmart to hire a person for 2 hours a day at the minumum legal wage and never give them a raise or more hours even if they have cancer and are living under a nearby bridge. If a person doesn't like where they work they can quit and look for a better job or start their own business. Some street corner "homeless" in NYC make over $50,000 a year and they don't live under a bridge! Profit belongs to those that make it. They can do with it as they please and it is no one's business. If Walmart wants to take their profit and burn it on a wooden ship in the middle of the ocean and at the same time require their employees to wear Mickey Mouse hats they can legally do that and no one can stop them. Businesses or individuals do not have to operate within Godly principles in a sinful world. One should beseech their God for their needs and desires and not worry about what others do with their money. It's a cruel, cruel, unfair world. . . Q.E.D. Quote Satanic Verses-Salman Rushdie.

No,they are not responsible for your well being. They are responsible for a fair wage for the agreed on job and safe working conditions.Doesn't matter what they are earning. No business is responsible for paying above what the job requires. If you have not developed skills or a trade, earned a degree, they are not responsible for paying you to ensure your well being. bonnie Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 And what is that responsibility if you have billions? If you're a good teacher? A caring nurse? A talented.....? The responsibility is between them and God.What right does anyone else have to determine what they do with their billions? Gibs Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 How much is true about Wal Marts net income and what isn't truth we can never really know, as the competition against them is strong and lies abound in business as in war, all is fair it is said in those. What I do know is, no, the Wal Mart employees don't make the best wages and have the best benefits but if they did where would you prefer to buy, of course where it is cheaper and same quality at a better price. Americans can no longer get good wages to cover the rising costs of everything and same in all countries. Extract it from the companies and they go broke and shut the doors bankrupt, lots of them now in this country. Folks we are just seeing what has come in because of who is rulling the world. Survival is going to get tougher and tougher for the sheeple, they will get poorer and the rich richer. It is the Satanic ajenda that I have seen coming now for years. True Christianity is dying everywhere and will not be upheld is the bottom line. Satan's ajenda is being taken up rapidly and the result is happening and not many see from where it is coming and the end result. The end result is very close now, this ugly business has almost reached it's full development and Yah will end it with the fire of His Presence coming soon this time in all His consuming fire Glory! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. bonnie Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 With that kind of spirit, it's no wonder this world is a mess! How can any employer take responsibility for the well being of employee's? Employment is not a lifetime commitment based on the needs of the employee. Why do we think if WalMart or any employer hires someone they are bonded for life and the employee never faces layoffs or cutbacks. We are very fond of the separation of church and state, yet want a secular nation and secular employer's to act in what we see as "christian" behavior. How would or should my needs dictate my terms of employment? If I am not qualified for high skilled employment why should a employer pay me what I say I need to live on? My responsibility is to learn a skill. Even doing so does not guarantee me a lifetime commitment. You don't have a right to any job.You have a right to learn a skill,go to college, trade school. You have a right to apply for a job.You do not have a right to a certain job. Once hired,if circumstances change and the terms of your employment change and you are unhappy with that, you have a right to quit, without notice if you choose. What happened to the rights of the employer? Do they lose them because they have more money? Why can't the employer terminate without notice or cut back on hours if it is seen as more efficient and profitable? Rights should go both ways. bonnie Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 We didn't set ourselves in this world.Being responsible for the well being of others is not for a government or those that want that to decide. When you demand a right from someone that takes by force from another,it is not a right. I have a neighbor that I try to watch out for.She has a family but they are not the most attentive and she has me on speed dial.I am more than willing to watch out for her as much as I can,but who has the right to demand I do that? A local business has made some drastic changes in his employment practices.Everyone now has 30 hours or less or faces termination. He has less than the required 50 to face to the new changes, but the last two years his insurance premiums have risen dramatically. He also believes that the 50 employee kick in will drop as more and more employer's make adjustments to stay competitive. Is he responsible for those that say,"I need the employer to pay the increase and I need my 40 hours"? Or is his first priority keeping and running a profitable business? Not doing so they all lose Rather than pay the increase the employee's can now pay all thru the employer insurance or they can go with out. No one wins when a government or a "special" group says it is my right for "you to do this" This is not a new world we are in."As in the days of Noah" and “everyone did what was right in their own eyes" pretty spells it out. Doing right in their own eyes does not only include the employer, but the employee as well Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. M. T. Cross Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 As I said Bonnie, I agree with you. This is the world and society we live in. But we are responsible for helping maintain it. We chose to build a society where it becomes virtually impossible to bear any responsibility beyond ourselves and our own. It is our greatest failing. There used to be a system where everyone was responsible for contributing to the whole and where all benefited from it. We left it behind and while we have progressed in industry and technology since we have created a social nightmare. But it is what we have. So indeed, we can not demand that anyone do more than take care of themselves. That still does not make it right though and I do believe this lack of caring is why the world is such a mess. Quote

Moderators Gerr Posted December 1, 2012 Moderators Posted December 1, 2012 EC, I hope you don't mind my borrowing your story. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/good-news...-171620865.html An officer's simple act of kindness has made him online celebrity, thanks to a snapshot-taking tourist from Arizona. Jennifer Foster of Florence, Arizona, was visiting Times Square with her husband on November 14 when she noticed a barefoot man asking for change. Officer Lawrence DePrimo, 25, approached the man with a pair of boots and knelt at his side to help him. Foster captured the touching exchange with her cellphone, then submitted the image to the NYPD's official Facebook page. By Wednesday, the photo had been viewed more than 1.6 million times. "Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, 'I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let's put them on and take care of you.' The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching," she wrote. "I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer's name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared." DePrimo was shocked by the attention, the New York Times reports, as he was unaware the photo was even taken. In an interview, he recounted that evening: "It was freezing out and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," he said. "I had two pairs of socks and I was still cold." DePrimo then went into a nearby Sketchers shoe store, where the manager offered the officer his employee discount to help bring down the price of a pair of boots to just over $75. Upon receiving the new boots, DePrimo told the Associated Press that the man "smiled from ear to ear. It was like you gave him a million dollars." DePrimo still carries that receipt with him, he said, "to remind me that sometimes people have it worse." Quote
bonnie Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Heartwarming story. The best part of the story is it came from the heart and not a government mandate. The officer could have called Social Services,Salvation Army or simply said that is what I pay the christian tax to the government for. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 The best part of the story is it came from the heart and not a government mandate. What, to help the homeless? Why shouldn't the government assist? After all taxes are redistribution of the wealth. Quote
jasd Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 >>Why shouldn't the government assist?<< The key word in the above is - "assist" - as opposed to establishing a dependent class that passes through multiple generations. Near everyone can use an assist now and again - that does not, however, argue for the continuing assist - unless the situation is legitimately desparate. And for those gray and blue-headed seniors among us - when in need - apply!--you've spent your lifetime paying into the system. It's time to receive the benefits accrued. The senior asks no more than any other who receives lawfully arranged assists; such as, deductions of interest payments on home mortagages - and for cryin' out loud - enough already with the contributions of billion$ to peoples of other countries who despise and hate us!--bringing that money home and distributing such largesse here - in the good ol' USofA! The above is not condoning what our Govt is currently doing in borrowing multiple trillion$ of dollars for the practice of cronyism - remember who's your friend when you vote. That is literally illegal. Quote

bonnie Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Taken from my facebook.Author unknown. Redistribution of wealth Every evening, the same 10 friends eat dinner together, family style, at the same restaurant. The bill for all 10 comes to $100. They always pay it the way we pay taxes: • The first four are poor and pay nothing. • The fifth pays $1. • The sixth pays $3. • The seventh, $7 • The eighth, $12. • The ninth, $18. • The 10th, (the most well-to-do) pays $59. One night the restaurant owner announces that because they're such good customers, he's dropping their group dinner bill to $80. Let's call that a tax cut. They want to continue paying their bill as we pay taxes. So the four poorest men still eat free. But if the other six split the $20 tax cut evenly, each would save $3.33. That means the fifth and sixth men would end up being paid to eat. The restaurant owner works out a plan: The fifth man eats free; the sixth pays $2; the seventh, $5; the eighth, $9; the ninth, $12; and the 10th guy pays $52. All six are better off than before, and the four poor guys still eat for nothing. The trouble starts when they leave the restaurant and begin to compare what they reaped from the $20 cut. "I only got a dollar of it," says the sixth man, "but he (pointing at No. 10) got $7." The fifth guy, who also saved a dollar by getting his meal free, agrees that it's not fair for the richest to get seven times the savings as he. No. 7, grousing that the wealthy get all the breaks, points out that he only got two bucks. "Wait a minute," the first four poor guys yell in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men jump the 10th and administer a severe beating. The next night he doesn't come for dinner. They shrug it off and eat without him. The customary $80 bill comes. Surprise! They're $52 short. Yes, those who pay the most taxes get the most back from tax reductions. But tax them too much — punish them for the wealth they may have — and they just might stop bringing their money to the table. I guess this is why American businesses have about $10 trillion in offshore deposits. You can’t blame them. After all, they got tired of getting beat up to forfeit their “fair share.” Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
