bonnie Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Yeah, I know, in your eyes it's the poor man causing the problems in America. Well, that's because of your right-wing spin that you believe these lies. Watch Fox News some more and feed on the self-righteous nonsense. Watch them while you eating your turkey.... Many issues are causing problems in America. There is a vast difference between the responsible poor and those that we now refer to as the poor. We cannot eliminate all poverty. Nor should we eliminate poverty that stems from laziness, lack of motivation, and a willingness to do our best. I wonder what you have done on this day of Thanksgiving for the poor or any other day fro that matter. Have you provided a dinner today for someone that is hungry? maybe provided a coat for someone cold and without? I know that this is something you don't feel you HAVE to do as you have little use for the law. But do you do it out of "love thy neighbor as thyself' Will you have good dinner today?Do you have a warm coat? Then so should your neighbors I know several that you dismiss and condemn as legalists that have seen to the needs of others today and throughout the year Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. You cannot respond without shifting the focus of what was said. You have to do that by giving a dishonest representation of what someone else has said. Long before you believed you had discovered the true gospel, long before there was a Fox News or right wing anything my beliefs were shaped by two people. Far more intelligent than you appear to be,certainly far more kind and I believe far more generous with what they had. Would Joseph have developed into the man he became if God had run ahead of him removing the obstacles in his path? Those that do not do their best in adversity, rarely do so in good times. Robert Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Slavery did not begin in America. So? Why did it start? Answer: Greed! Quote
bonnie Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 So? Why did it start? Answer: Greed! Where do you come up with these amazing answers?Sin in a sinful world. Not a new concept. You know if my family were hungry and cold and I were given only two options to help care for them 1.Legalist,that man/woman that was looking for a tax write off, bragging to friends about what a great thing they had done, adding a rung on the salvation ladder or 2. Those that are not under the law that condemn those they perceive as legalists. Call them "son of satan" and explain they don't have to do anything because they are free of the law. "Love Thy neighbor as themselves and drive a away in a expensive vehicle, pleased with their "new gospel". Has an interesting meaning to those so pleased they "DON"T HAVE TO I think the legalist would actually be the one I would turn to The motives of either are not my business. That is between them and God. Whatever motive the legalist may have in feeding a hungry family, they are at least fed Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Bonnie, have a wonderful thanksgiving. I don't want to waste your time any longer. We don't agree and probably never will. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. Let's just agree to disagree. Robert Quote

jasd Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 >>Barring serious efforts to curb the growth in the country's debt, by 2020 Washington could be spending 92 cents of every tax dollar on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and interest alone. That would leave just 8 cents to pay for everything else.<< [ed.jasd] And the sad thing is: we pay throughout our working years for our SS and we pay for Medicare (neither of which are entitlements) with continuing monthly premiums. I, and all who receive Medicare, pay about $100 a month in premiums for it. Obama ripped-off more than $700 billion from it to redistribute for the advantage of those supposedly without medical insurance. Yeah, I know a lot of them – those who’ve elected to spend their resources on things other than insurance premiums - on gadgets, on toys, dope and boozer blowouts, etc – thinking that they’ll not need Medical Insurance whilst young and healthy. I, and others, pay for their negligence – leaving us with much depleted services come time to avail our needs by application to our insurance policy. My mother had a heart attack and I rushed her to the White Memorial Emergency Room in Los Angeles – where we waited 9 hours for medical attention. Needless-to-say, my mother was in agony without benefit of even a proffered pain killer – the personnel being overwhelmed. The Emergency Room was wall-to-wall with freebers, YES!-I said FREEBERS!—who believed in Socialized Medicine; that is, others should pay. ‘swhy, so many of the Medical Facilities in California – just shut their doors and walked away, calling it quits – because the cash flow was all in the wrong direction… (and 'the guy' was only going to tax the rich..., ain not nuthin’ rich about SS recipients, Sheesh) The fellow residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave will next raid readily redeemable private assets – adios, to your easily liquidated assets – such as bank accounts, bonds, certain 401k and IRAs…, the Socialist greedy have their eyes on the best available source of relatively ready funds. Cash out peoples – and take a small loss now, rather than a larger one soonest. :-( Tchah!—for Socialism and redistribution. Mebbe, it would serve mankind better to have some of our ‘fellows’ – other than the children, the old, sick, and legitimately indigent - slip through the cracks and the gene pool – thems and their DNA. LifeHiscost Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 While it may give us some satisfaction to put others down, whether or not they have it coming, and especially as it seems to reflect about the dismal condition of the world's present condition, it seems only appropriate to remind ourselves that nothing we have done worthwhile is a reflection of ourself, but is a result of God's overruling providences , for the sake of His glory. Moderators Gerr Posted November 24, 2012 Moderators Posted November 24, 2012 Just jumping in. Anybody been following the news? Many Walmart employees are on strike and demonstrating. Gibs Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Every one in this country that are not rich are going to bite the bullet to barely eke out a living. Workmen will no longer be paid high wages or much benefits. All industry that was able to do so has left this couuntry to where labor is cheap and few benefits need be paid. America is to come down to the level of the other countries of the world or even lower. So Americans are going to see times as never seen before any where in this world while the rich get richer and richer. Don't believe that, watch and see! It is happening now and fast will be the fall. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. M. T. Cross Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 To toss in another 2 cents (pun intended).... I have been very poor. I have made it up to lower middle class income. I have been very poor again. Made it back up to just basic poor and once again am residing kind of around the lower middle class. There has been a lot of hearbreak in there - losing my house last year was rough, there has been a lot of joy. There have been times when I needed help, and I got that help. My oldest son asked me once why the help came and why it came sometimes when we didn't even ask for it. I told him I was not sure but I think its because I have always worked, often at jobs that did not make ends meet - but they were better than nothing, but also because when ever I can I try to help those with less than us. Its a matter of caring and a matter of being honest. I agree to a point with Bonnie when she says handouts don't work but a hand up does. People tend to get dependent on handouts and quit having a drive to do it for themselves. See, I don't think its ever a matter of being rich or being poor. Its a matter of doing your best, taking a hold of the opportunities that come your way. Its also about doing your best to make the lives of those around you as good as you can within the framework that you are able or feel comfortable with. No-one has the right to tell anyone where they need to put their money or their time. Giving that comes from a sense of duty is a waste. When it comes from a place of love or a place of passion it is wonderful. I don't care if you are Bill Gates or Tim the gas attendant - take care of your family and your families future first, then give to where you feel it should best be given to. I also think its important that giving time is just as valuable as money. Quote

Its a matter of caring and a matter of being honest. I agree to a point with Bonnie when she says handouts don't work but a hand up does. People tend to get dependent on handouts and quit having a drive to do it for themselves. There are those that never will be able to care for themselves completely. They should still be encouraged to do as much as possible for themselves. That helps them far more than complete dependence on others. That does not breed respect and appreciation but generally leads to contempt and demands for more. Some are incapable of taking an active part in their survival and need to be cared for willingly. Just as was mentioned concerning Wal-Mart employees striking, complaining they don't earn enough, while at the same time complaining about being required to work. M. T. Cross Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Indeed Bonnie, there are those that will never be able to be independent completely. But everyone has a skill, everyone has something to contribute. I have no issue with those people receiving help, I have no issue with programs being put into place to help them find those skills, to help pay them etc. Of course I look at this from a Canadian point of view, and we I guess lean a little more to the socialist side of the spectrum. I remember a time when I had a landlord that liked to take some "muscle" with him when he went to certain places to collect rent. I was his help a number of times. Walking into homes where lived fourth generation welfare families made me disgusted, disappointed and sad. When people grow up seeing that all there their life and have no authoritative push to do any better they never will. IMO there are ways to solve the problem but governments are scared to put them into place. Quote

hch Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I would say pretty much everyone (if not every single person) on this forum is monetarily rich. Yes it is written in James 5:1 "Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]." Who are the rich men? Jesus said of Laodicea, "thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing..." (Revelation 3:17). And Revelation identifies their fate: "the rich men... hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains..." (6:15). But we have the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath, the Bible, the Spirit of prophecy, the accumulated light from all ages, Christian Education, and good jobs... "The condemnation that will fall upon the inhabitants of the earth in this day will be because of their rejection of light. Our condemnation in the judgment will not result from the fact that we have lived in error, but from the fact that we have neglected Heaven-sent opportunities for discovering truth. The means of becoming conversant with the truth are within the reach of all; but, like the indulgent, selfish king, we give more attention to the things that charm the ear, and please the eye, and gratify the palate, than to the things that enrich the mind, the divine treasures of truth." {BEcho, September 17, 1894 par. 5} Quote His child Henry Bible student/Author https://www.loudcry101.com
Gibs Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I wish! Not all here are monitarily rich, jobs are scarce as hens teeth here and the ones that do have jobs are not but a bare living with all the bills and hospital and doctor bills and or insurance to pay that will not pay them all. The co pay is getting higher all the time. My son in law is a journeyman cabinet maker one of the very best in the business and only has an occasional day or two of work. He and my oldest daughter have had to file bankruptcy twice now and my daughter does house cleaning all that she is able and can't keep up with the bills and they are in deep straits right now. Many here are in the same boat. Yes if we are on this forum we have a bit of means left or we wouldn't have an internet connection, which many very soon will have to drop and one of them may just be me as doctors and hospitals are using us up rapidly. There is all kinds of houses for sale and for rent around here and many that are rent to own but not many have any means to acquire them or to rent. Several families are living with grampa and grammaw, or with one of the family that does yet have means to keep a place of shelter and warmth. Wages are getting less and less and things and services are going up fast, groceries among them and of poorer quality of them with more imported contaminiated foods as never before. Perilous times are upon us, the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer and increasing in numbers rapidly. Many will shortly be dying from lack of shelter and needs of life, some are already, the news media has failed us for years of giving the sheeple the truth. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Windsor Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Once upon a time, it was not at all unusual for multiple generations to live under the same roof even if one was considered rich. Now it is considered a great inconvenience if your parents aren't in a nursing home. Everyone here has access to electricity and a roof over their head even if the house they stay in isn't worth a million dollars. Nobody here is starving to death. In the eyes of the average African, we all live as kings here. Quote Remember Adventists Online?
Gibs Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Windsor, you are better off than a lot of of Americans here then. America is being brought down to the lowest of the low of third world countries and millions are hurting here and badly. Many of even small towns are homeless now and that used to be unheard of. Look at what Libya used to be and what has happened to her. They weren't controlled by the world banking system and had to be destroyed. All are to be made slaves of the rich world wide and it will fast be implemented in the nest few years ahead. Perilous times are here now for millions and it will come to the rest except for the rich who are team players and part of the team of TPTB. (the powers that be ) People come awake and look, can't you see what is coming. Get the true news, forget the popular media, they are a part of the evil system, get your news from the ones not afraid to put their lives on the line and blow the whistle of alarm! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
