Is this truthful or it is just an exaggeration?

It is very chilling and sad but very few people know that there is a very close correlation in the recent Moore Oklahoma's tornadoes and other natural disasters and human behavior disapproved by the Bible. Please watch the following link.

If it was due to Gay Pride why didn't it take out Brick Town (downtown OKC) as opposed to a suburb or small towns outside of OKC???

If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Thank you for your reply; it is a legitimate question to ask as long as one wishes to use God's given ability to reason. However, we should turn the same question around. Put yourself in the "same shoes" God is, according to the teachings in the Bible. If God, the Creator and the Redeemer of the human race see five sinners living in Brick Town (downtown OKC) who are asking God's help wile struggling with alcohol addition (sinning against their own bodies) and many other sins, would you be sending the same tornado to Brick Town (downtown OKC) or to a much less populated place where no one asks for God protection but in their hearts they feel that there is nothing wrong defying God in their preferred sexual style?

Let me rephrase the above question, putting yourself in a pair of "biblically defined shoes" (Creator and Redeemer), would send a tornado to downtown OKC where more sinners would get killed or would your punishment be sent against sinners defying God's given laws of sexual behavior in a place that is less populated where there is no one asking God to free them from their tendency to commit what God defines as evil behavior?

I don't think God sent the tornadoes. Keep in mind that Oklahoma is a place that has been referred to as long as I can remember, as...TORNADO ALLEY! Not to mention that it is the season for tornadoes.

When a volcano that is known for erupting at least once a year, erupts, we don't say that God did it as punishment to a group of people, do we?

Now if the tornadoes had hit somewhere that tornadoes are unheard of, and not referred to as tornado alley...

Also, we are told through the SOP that the spirit of God is being withdrawn from this world, and that Satan is given more and more control over the weather. That suggests to me that it is not God who is targeting folks. At least not by sending tornadoes to tornado alley.

It's kind of like being surprised when the tide comes in at the beach.

Thank you !!! Sorry but this conversation really hits a raw nerve so I shall not comment further. Other than I will add that I would Never attempt to surmise what God thinks!

I do not attempt to understand God's methods but I must ask you:

Do you know the area and that there is NO ONE asking God to free those who are marching for Gay Pride or any other sinful action? I am sure there are others who may appreciate your judgemental statements, Sorry, I may be a majority of one ... I do not!

Make that at least a majority of 2 my friend.

Felix, if your God was really trying to send a message against so called "sexual deviants" why would he hit a place known to the world for its tornado's with a tornado? Its not like the world knows that area for its sexual nature.....

Now if he hit San Fran or Thailand that might make more sense. Why not hit Ireland to teach the world the evils of drinking?

You remind me of the Pagans that see a crow at a dump (where there are always crows) and assume The Morrigan is reaching out to them.

I see lawlessness everywhere. As God's Spirit is withdrawn I believe we can expect greater disasters. My prayer is one of mercy. As Daniel and Moses identified themselves with those of their nation and interceded for them, we can do the same. We know that sin is abounding. Even though the final decision to a doomed place belongs to God, we can like Abraham pray for the salvation of the whole city for the sake of the few righteous ones inside.

All disasters are tragic and even IF any of them are due to the wickedness of the inhabitants I would not want to heap blame onto any of the victims. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Multiple times I have gone to the Adventist ABC bookstore in downtown Manhattan (New York City) and, by accident, I have come across this "gay pride parade." Honestly, when that has happened, my mind is filled with mixed feelings of emotional pain and indignation because when I see them parading it reminds me of innocent people being afflicted with AIDS, hepatitis B & C by promiscuous sex partners, broken family ties in which children don't have the opportunity to grow up with a biologic father and mother that would teach them love for God and country; they don't have any respect for the idea of family formation with real biologic ties when people are emotionally, psychologically and economically able to bring children to this world. When I see them, it reminds me of the horrendous crime gangs in New Orleans and San Francisco with loss of natural affection where many people have lost their friends due to homicide or drug abuse. Honestly, during those gay pride parades, there are many unplanned spectators praying to God that those people may come to their senses because they don't have a right to live a risky life style that is a biologic health danger to themselves and to those they experience and intimate relationship with. We should be thankful to God that He only allows a tornado to take place only when there would be a minimum loss of lives (relatively speaking) and only when you don't have people asking God to help them live a life bringing honor to His name.

It is not of our business the specific time, place or why bad things happens to our fellow humans. But it is our biblically written duty to remind people that there is a God who created us, who loves us and who is working to redeem us. It is our duty to tell people so during good times and also during bad times.

Also in order to strengthen the relationship of those who have a very weak relationship with the Creator, we should tell them what the Bible teaches regarding the mystery of human suffering. If we are right, time will say so; if we are wrong, time will give us evidence teaching us why are wrong and we will have the opportunity of being wiser and more knowledgeable if our belief regarding God is right or not.

Ever been in a tornado, Felix?

Ever witnessed one first hand?

Ever lent a helping hand to a community affected by a tornado?

If you haven't taken the time to lend a helping hand to them, you are missing a great opportunity.

There was a video on youtube a few years back that was this woman praising the Christian God for the huge earthquake in Japan. She said it was his punishment for all the people there that follow the Shinto and Buddhist religions. She praised him for their deaths. Felix here is not quite that bad (that we see) but not that far behind.

Fine, great, I don't buy it but that cause I am not a Christian. That said, that has noting to do with tornado's being a punishment from God.

People leave church because they believe that they have no business spending time with people worshiping a God that is contrary to their best judgment and they also feel that there is nothing to gain by changing the way other people think about God. I really feel any sensible person would do the same. However, those believing that it is a worthwhile experience to interact with others so we could learn more about Him would remain attending church on a regular basis.

Nice summation, Gail. To which I would offer the following:

It is tragic, but both evil and good people die and suffer in natural catastrophes. Were the good dying just as "deserving" as the wicked? How about the survivors? Do they all "deserve" having to rebuild their lives, some of whom lost everything?

Jesus had a teaching for the thought train that wants to correlate disaster with an act of God punishing wickedness: Luke 13:1-5

"There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower of Siloam fell and killed them, do you think they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you no, but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.'"

He spoke these to a people who thought the manner of one's death was indicative of their besetting sins or of compromising with the worse sins of the day. Christ's questions here are phrased for an expected negative reply - which He Himself supplied. We are to repent of what God convicts us of, else we come to an end no different than what people were pointing as "signs from God".

Unless we have a prophet who specifically messages from God that a disaster is indeed signal from God, we do well to refrain from such correlations. We are to know that unless WE repent, we are just as deserving as those deemed to suffer God's wrath in these disasters. Revelation 3:14-22 comes to mind here...

We need to be of like mind as Christ, who - when His own disciples thought they were honoring Christ by desiring to call fire down upon a Samaritan village for merely not extending hospitality - decried them as having the wrong spirit. Christ came to save men's lives, not to destroy them (Luke 9:51-56).

Sitting back and pointing fingers is no worse than never getting up and giving the word of warning in love for the endangered souls. There but for the grace of God go I....

It is better to simply mourn for those lost, and do what we can to aid the survivors through the rebuilding process. Trying to tie a "message from God" to any disaster, when God hasn't sent the warning ahead of time (see Sodom and Gomorrha, the taking of the Promised Land, and the destruction of Nineveh for examples), simply rubs salt in the wounds of those tied closely to the event.

So...to answer the thread's question - it is not truthful, but an exaggeration.

Food for thought...

"As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17

"The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings

"Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne

"The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan

I do apologize for sounding rude and insensitive. However, I have not yet learned how to express myself using a more pleasant or polite language. This is why I say that those who are only interested to please a physical pleasure many times end up with a premature death. I truly believe that if it is true that we are the creation of omniscient all loving God, then He has to know better than ourselves how to have a happier and longer life. Therefore, bringing glory to His name by words and actions is the best way to bring a longer life on earth (unless one lives in a place where is the law of the land to kill Christians or people leaving their faith to accept Jesus Christ) and finally eternal life.
