Our intrinsic worth comes from God's loving us, not the other way around.

Let's say you meet a person who doesn't know anything about Christ, but wants to know about Him.  What do you tell this person?

Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.

That would be a good OP.

I opt to start the "learning curve" from infancy in Christ.  Just my opinion.

Whenever you think of your life-raft, think of what you have, the power, the hope within you and realise they who don't know Christ have NOTHING.

I simply believe there are infants with us in the life-raft.

You don't get to opt. :)

Without a personal relationship with the Source of Power, you are a rock or a fish.

And we have all personal relationship with Him: it could be a good one, or otherwise.

That would be a great OP.

And some would tell of the impending end-time...

And some would tell of their personal relationship with Him.  I know which one I prefer :)

Those with the good one are overcomers; all others, non-overcomers.

That reply just jarred with my spirit. :)

Don't be. It's God Who ultimately judges who the overcomers are and who are not.

Well I think it was a wonderful breakthrough talking about a personal relationship with Christ, as opposed to a theoretical discussion of "overcomers".

As you value your love walk with Him, God is not going to deny anyone that.  Nobody sneaks in without a love walk, or personal relationship.  A kingdom could not function without all being personally indebted to Him, and empowered by Him, and on the same page with Him.  And they would be missing what we value the most.  God will not deny them that.

Pnatt, keep Samie on the personal relationship, rather than the impersonal one, while I snooze :)

Samie:I personally accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was baptized in Nov 9, 1969. I was then 16 years old when I became a member of the SDA Church.

I know this is personal, so I hope you don't mind my asking, but I found this a bit odd.  For myself, I had accepted Christ before I was baptized, and then I was baptized as a public acknowledgement of that.  If I hadn't accepted Christ, I wouldn't have been baptized, because there would have been no reason to be baptized.  The baptism was a public acknowledgement of something which had already happened in my experience.

So I'm curious as to what happened with you, if you don't mind my asking.  Perhaps you were going to be baptized because your parents, or some other adults, wanted you to, and you didn't recognize the import of it until the day of your baptism, so that's when you responded to the Holy Spirit(?)

Hopefully my question makes sense.

It does. I have the same experience as yours. My error in how I explained it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Samie, it seems to me that the important thing, in terms of the experience of the person involved, who would go to heaven, is that this person receive Christ as his/her personal savior, and invite Him into his/her heart.  Do you agree?

I agree, on the condition that this applies to all those to whom God has given the opportunity of personally knowing Christ, like the eunuch, so much so that God commissioned Philip to show the man his new responsibility.  Those who accept Him, like the eunuch did, are the overcomers; those who refuse, are not.

The general principle would be, those who will make it to heaven are those whom God judges as overcomers, as spelled out in 7 different places in Revelation in the letters to the 7 churches.

I believe, there are overcomers among the myriads who may have not yet personally heard of Christ and Him Crucified, in the same manner as there are non-overcomers among those who have already personally accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.  This explains why there is blotting out of names from the Book of Life.

What's really important is that the would-be believer hear about Christ, receive Him as their personal Savior, and invite them into their heart.  Are we agreed on this point? (btw, we'll never meet a person who does not have the opportunity to hear about Christ, since we ourselves can tell them about Christ.  So this is a theoretical concern, which shouldn't sidetrack us from our mission.  What's our mission?)

Disagree. Myriads die as we speak, and that, before meeting a Christian.

For me, my lifetime mission is to overcome evil with good.  And one of them is to overcome the evil of missionary indolence by spreading the pure gospel as God gives the opportunity for me to do so, like what I am doing in this forum and in my daily encounter with others.

This doesn't look to be disagreeing with what I wrote.  What are you disagreeing with?

I think there are issues with your perception as to what the pure gospel is.  For example, you are hear agreeing with the following:

Quote

What's really important is that the would-be believer hear about Christ, receive Him as their personal Savior, and invite them into their heart.  Are we agreed on this point?

If you agree that this is what's really important, why do you not speak of it?

I am reading you as saying that no one cannot personally hear about Christ.
