Arnold Palmer was playing his last U.S. Open round ever, the Rangers were celebrating their recent Stanley Cup victory with a parade, Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 30th home run which tied Babe Ruth's record for most homers hit before June 30th, and oh yeah, the World Cup was starting. Add to all that that the chase interrupted game 5 of the NBA Finals (Knicks-Rockets). NBC put the game in a box in the corner of the screen while Tom Brokaw covered the car chase.

It's been a bit tough keeping track of what's happened to the White Bronco since it's time on the air. Multiple people have owned it, not all of them identifiable. But we do know that, for a time, the car was owned by Michael Pulwer, a collector and one-time friend of Cowlings and Simpson. Pulwer, who was once described by his cousin as "a porn king," made his fortune in the adult film industry. Pulwer said 5-10 times a year, people would ask if they could rent the Bronco for weddings or similar occasions. Which is pretty disturbing when you think about it. It's even gone on display at the Luxor in Vegas. "I think someday, somebody will want to have it in a museum of famous or infamous cars," Pulwer said. Makes sense. If you're going to have a museum featuring famous or infamous cars, it would be really hard not to include O.J. Simpson's white Ford Bronco.

Answer: Judge Lance Ito is a retire Los Angeles County Superior Court judge. Ito became familiar to American television viewers when he presided over the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson, at which Simpson was acquitted. In the years since the Simpson trial, Ito has kept out of the public eye and has given few interviews or statements. On the rare occasions that he's spoken to the media, Ito hasn't commented on the Simpson case. Last October, NBC News reported that Ito had presided over 500 cases since the Simpson trial before retiring in January 2015.

Answer: Father’s Day was proposed in the early 20th century, when Sonora Louise Smart Dodd wanted to honor her father, William Smart, a Civil War veteran. Do Other Countries Celebrate Father’s Day?

Many countries celebrate their own version of Father’s Day. The date it is celebrated depends on the country, and many, but not all, are tied to special holy days. Germany celebrates Father’s Day 40 days after Easter, on Ascension Day. American men would probably enjoy the way German fathers celebrate the day. They fill a wagon full of food, schnapps, and beer and head out into the wilderness for some male bonding time. When they tire of that, they head to a beer garden. Father’s day in Canada isn’t just limited to biological fathers.  A Father’s Day greeting can be extended to any male who is important to someone’s life.

In Italy, Father’s Day is celebrated by going to church on St. Joseph’s Day. Afterward, they greet their fathers on the street, and finish the day by having a big feast and festivities such as dancing, music and donkey races. Mexico celebrates by getting dad up off the couch  - after he has received cards and gifts (yes, they give ties too) and been served all his favorite foods - with a 21-kilometer race for fathers and their children that is run across Mexico City.

In August 1920, Ray Chapman was killed when he was struck in the temple by a spitball thrown by pitcher Carl Mays. The executions followed a few years of appeals and trials that coincided with the hysteria over Communist infiltration of American society. These were the years ruled by Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee, which put several Hollywood notables through questioning that resulted in the blacklisting of several artists. Fear of the Red Scare was so prevalent that it fed into the desire to punish the Rosenbergs. By 1953, the very idea of helping the Soviets was not one that anyone liked, and the government had little sympathy for the Rosenbergs.

Part of the reason for assigning the death sentence was that prosecutors hoped it would motivate the Rosenbergs to name more names, with a mere prison sentence instead of death as the incentive. However, the Rosenbergs refused, claiming innocence right up until their electrocutions.

After revelations of perjury on the part of David Greenglass and revelations that information from the Venona Program, which monitored Soviet spy traffic, cast Ethel's supposed role into doubt, it's generally thought that Julius was a spy and should have gotten a prison sentence, and Ethel should have been released. There are still those who claim Ethel was a spy, but the evidence points in the opposite direction.

Ethel's own mother didn't believe her, warning her to start naming names, and the rabbi overseeing the spiritual rites at the execution actually asked her at the last minute to name names. Ethel simply claimed she had none. What's even worse is that when Ethel was electrocuted, the initial three shocks, which were enough to kill Julius, apparently were not enough to kill her, and she had to undergo two additional massive shocks for a crime, as far as the current evidence shows, she did not commit.

They did have their supporters; for example, The Nation magazine argued in favor of the Rosenbergs' innocence, and there were increasing international calls to stop the execution from going forward. Protestors in London had requested Queen Elizabeth II try to intervene as well. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to push back against the anti-communist environment that was bent on punishing the Rosenbergs.
