Answer: Sergeant Stubby has been called the most decorated war dog of World War I and the only dog to be nominated for rank and then promoted to sergeant through combat. According to the Smithsonian Institute, Sergeant Stubby legitimately earned his title by helping to alert troops of gas attacks and aiding in the capture a German soldier during World War I. He served for 18 months and participated in seventeen battles on the Western Front. Sgt. Stubby is the subject of an upcoming animated film, scheduled for release in April 2018.

Airplane!!

Answer: Air travel remains the safest mode of transport with just 0.07 deaths per one billion passenger miles. Flying on one of the world’s major airlines, on any single flight, you have a 1 in 4.7 million chance of being killed, according to PlaneCrashInfo.com, which tracked accident data from 1993 to 2012. Even if you’re flying on one of those with the worst safety records, your odds are still 1 in 2 million. “The most dangerous part of your airline flight is the trip to the airport,” said aviation and national security expert Carl Rochelle.

The son of an Admiral, McCain enrolled in the Naval Academy and was dispatched to Vietnam, where he was tortured as a prisoner of war between 1967 and 1973. After his release, McCain served as a Republican congressman and senator from the state of Arizona. McCain lost the 2008 presidential election to Barack Obama.

What was the motto displayed on the first official penny?

Answer: Benjamin Franklin reportedly designed the first American penny in 1787. Known as the Fugio cent, it bears the image of a sun and sundial above the message “Mind Your Business.” A chain with 13 links, each representing one of the original colonies, encircles the motto “We Are One” on the reverse. Along with the first U.S. penny’s design, the phrase “a penny saved is a penny earned” has been attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Visitors to the founding father’s grave in Philadelphia traditionally leave one-cent pieces there for good luck.

Answer: The old Italian proverb “Fatti maschii, parole femine” is the official state motto of Maryland. According to the state of Maryland, the phrase translates to “strong deeds, gentle words.” Yet this is willfully misleading. The direct translation is hardly gentle: “Manly deeds, womanly words.” The phrase was uttered by Pope Clement VII in the 1500s. Centuries later, in 1959, long after the Calvert family, Maryland’s founders, had incorporated it into its shield in around 1648, the state officially adopted a new seal that featured the words.

Answer: "Blueberry Hill" was Fats Domino's greatest hit and remains the song most associated with him. In the popular 1970s sitcom Happy Days, set in the 1950s, lead character Richie Cunningham’s favorite song was "Blueberry Hill" by Fats Domino. Whenever he was feeling particularly lucky—especially when he spotted a prospective girlfriend—he would sing "I found my thrill... on Blueberry Hill..." Fats Domino died of natural causes on Tuesday in his beloved hometown of New Orleans. He was 89.
