Which NFL quarterback was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 1995 Major League Baseball draft?

Don't think its AR or T, that would mean about 20+ yrs; Could be PM he just retired; TA has been retired for about 5+yrs! I think I'm gonna go with PM!!

Answer: As a left-handed catcher who could hit for power, Tom Brady impressed major league baseball scouts enough to where he was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 draft by the Montreal Expos. While some believed he had the potential to make it as a professional baseball player, Brady was more passionate about football, which is why he eventually enrolled at the University of Michigan. Brady went on to have a solid four years at Michigan before being taken by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft, and the rest is history.

Left handed catcher??? He's right handed!!!!!

What Record Did Glenn Set by Making This Trip Into Space?

He became the oldest man to travel into space. He had been designated as the payload specialist on board the Discovery for a mission that lasted nine days. In addition to research and experiments conducted during the mission, Glenn participated in research about the aging process. Scientists had noticed similarities between natural aging and how flights into space affected the human body.

Experiments conducted using this senior astronaut included how his body would respond to balance, sleep and perception in the low gravity environment. In addition, it included metabolism, response by the immune system, blood flow, and muscle and bone density.

What Record Did Glenn Set in 1962?

He became the first man to orbit Earth. It was on February 20, and Glenn was aboard the Mercury-Atlas 6 spacecraft he had named “Friendship 7,” which orbited Earth three times. The spacecraft had been launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and reached a maximum altitude of 162 miles and speed of 17,500 mph. The mission, from its launch to its landing near Grand Turk Island, lasted just under five hours.

It turned out to be a dangerous flight when warning sensors came on reporting that the landing bag and heat shield were insecure. Instead of following normal procedures, Glenn stayed up in space to resecure the heat shield. Upon his safe arrival back on Earth, it was discovered that the sensor for the heat shield was faulty, and he was never in any real danger.

How Did Glenn Get Into the Astronaut Program?

Glenn had been an experienced pilot for years. As a young man he had joined the Marine Corps and became a member of Marine Fighter Squadron 155 during World War II. During the war, he flew in 59 combat missions. Following the war, he joined Marine Fighter Squadron 218, then worked as an advanced training instructor in Corpus Christi, Texas, from the middle of 1948 to the end of 1950.

He also served as a fighter pilot during the Korean War, flying 63 missions. Following his attendance at test pilot school in Maryland, he was an aircraft project officer, and at the Bureau of Aeronautics, he worked in the branch for fighter design. After accumulating almost 9,000 hours of flight time, a large portion of it in jets, he was chosen as an astronaut with the Mercury program.

Which state grows 95% of all the pumpkins in the United States?

Answer: Ninety-five percent of the pumpkins processed in the United States are grown in Illinois. Eighty percent of all the pumpkins produced commercially in the U. S. are produced within a 90-mile radius of Peoria, Illinois. Most of those pumpkins are grown for processing into canned pumpkins. The town of Morton, near Peoria in central Illinois, is the self-proclaimed Pumpkin Capital of the World. Morton is the location of a Libby’s pumpkin processing plant owned by Nestlé Food Company, which cans more than 85 percent of the world’s pumpkin each year.

(That's a lotta pumpkins!!!!!)

Food, food, glorious food! The fair was an excellent place to be if you loved food. Not only were there curiosities, such as a sculpture of the Venus de Milo made from a whopping 1,500 pounds of chocolate (that's equal to over 15,000 full-size chocolate candy bars) and an 11-ton block of cheese (which is equivalent to five and a half Ford F-150 pickups), but several new products were displayed that quickly became favorites. Among them were Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix, Juicy Fruit Gum, Cracker Jack, Cream of Wheat and Shredded Wheat, and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

Which Amusement Park Ride Was Built For The Chicago World's Fair?

The first Ferris wheel was built for the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and was designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. This wheel was 264 feet high and had 36 cars, each of which could accommodate 40 people.  The total Cost of the wheel was $300,000.00. From the top of the ride, passengers could see 50 miles. It took 20 minutes for the enormous wheel to make one complete turn. After the Chicago World’s Fair, the Ferris wheel was taken to the 1904 St. Louis Exposition.

Would you believe that the first working prototype of a fax machine appeared at this fair? It wasn't called a fax (or facsimile) machine then; it was called the teleautograph. But the concept was the same. The machine would transmit, via wire, a picture of a message written by hand. It was successfully demonstrated at the fair, too. It was invented by Elisha Gray, though it didn't really catch on for general use back then.

What Two Inventions Showcased at the Fair Arguably Had the Most Drastic Effect on Society?

It's difficult to narrow down which inventions really made a mark because so many of the exhibits became part of everyday life. But two do stand out: the gas-powered car and the alternating-current power plant. The car, the Daimler Quadricycle, wasn't given a lot of press at the fair. But both Charles Duryea and Henry Ford saw it, and they were inspired to create their own versions. Duryea's company became the first company to mass-produce gas-powered vehicles in the United States. Another admirer of the Daimler car was Henry Ford, who returned to Dearborn after the fair and built an internal-combustion quadricycle of his own.  Just a few years later, he incorporated the Ford Motor Company.

As for that power plant, it really wasn't an official exhibit, but rather the power source for the entire fair. But that was good enough to show people how well alternating current worked, and after the fair ended, there was a sudden shift toward using alternating current in home and commercial applications.

If you are afraid of Halloween, you suffer from which of the following?

Answer: The fear of Halloween is called Samhainophobia. Defined as a persistent, and abnormal fear of Halloween, samhainophobia is a term rooted in ancient pagan traditions. The fear of the traditions, decorations and costumes of Halloween has been named for the ancient Celtic autumn festival of Samhain that was celebrated about 2000 years ago. Many people who suffer from the phobia are frightened by the social interactions of Halloween, while others are scared of the scary costumes and decorations that surround the holiday.

Answer: Because the movie Halloween was made on such a tight budget, they had to use the cheapest mask they could find for the character Michael Meyers, which turned out to be a William Shatner Star Trek mask. The production crew removed the eyebrows and sideburns, the face was painted flat white, the hair was teased out, and the eyes were opened up and reshaped with scissors. It became one of the most iconic masks of all time. Shatner initially didn’t know the mask was in his likeness, but when he found out years later, he said he was honored.

Which folktale inspired the Halloween Jack-o-Lantern?

Answer: Irish legend has it that the jack-o’-lantern was named after a folktale and a man named “Stingy Jack.” Stingy Jack thought he had tricked the devil, but the devil had the last laugh, condemning Jack to an eternity of wandering the planet with only an ember of hellfire for light. The original jack-o'-lanterns were carved from turnips, potatoes or beets. Immigrants brought the jack-o’-lantern custom to North America, which is where pumpkins were first used to make the Halloween decorations, and eventually became the gourd of choice.

My guess John Paul Jones!!

Answer: Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones' real name is not John Paul Jones. His birth name is John Baldwin but in 1964 before his Led Zeppelin fame, he took his stage name after the American naval hero John Paul Jones. John Paul Jones (July 6, 1747 – July 18, 1792) was a Scottish sailor and the United States' first well-known naval fighter in the American Revolutionary War. During his engagement with HMS Serapis, Jones uttered the legendary reply to a taunt about surrender from the British captain: "I have not yet begun to fight!"

The first hydrogen bomb was named "Mike," because there's no reason even a weapon of mass destruction shouldn't get a nickname. While its name was small, the bomb was anything but. It was three stories tall, and when the team designing it drew a full-scale model, they had to build a balcony to view it from just so people could see the whole thing. The bomb was so giant that it realistically could not have been used as a weapon and the Soviets even referred to it as a "thermonuclear installation." Say what you will about the Soviets, but it's pretty impressive to have the chutzpah to mock a hydrogen bomb.

How Powerful Was the Hydrogen Bomb?

The new hydrogen bomb had a yield of 10.4 megatons. We don't know what the heck that means, but it sure sounds like a lot. In reality, the bomb was about 700 times as powerful as the one dropped on Hiroshima, and it created a fireball over three miles wide. The bomb completely destroyed the island of Elugelab that it was tested on--like wiped it off the face of the planet. It also destroyed parts of several nearby islands. So to answer your question? Pretty freaking powerful.

Who Are Edward Teller and Stanislaw Ulam?

Edward Teller was an early member of the Manhattan project and one of the people who helped develop the atomic bomb. He was involved with atomic weaponry projects for most of his life including championing project Chariot, which was an idea to build an artificial harbor in Alaska by setting off a string of nuclear weapons, because apparently there's nothing nuclear weapons can't solve.

He is referred to as the father of the hydrogen bomb and some believe he was the inspiration for Dr. Strangelove. Meanwhile, Ulam was a successful mathematician who, among other things, pioneered the Monte Carlo Method, a system for computing probabilities and outcomes of various events still popular today. They both contributed heavily to the design of the hydrogen bomb to the point where it is now referred to as the Teller-Ulam design that became the foundation for modern atomic weapon design.

Who Developed the Hydrogen Bomb After the United States?

Of course, the hydrogen bomb did not stop with the United States. The Soviet Union created and detonated its own bomb the next year and other nations soon followed. Here's a (debatably) fun trivia question: Which country was the third to test a hydrogen bomb? That honor goes to the UK. Due to a 1970 treaty, only five countries are allowed to legally have them.  The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons officially recognizes five countries as nuclear-weapon states: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.  Of course, this isn't necessarily the case. Some countries, like India and Pakistan, never signed the treaty and are believed to possess nuclear weapons. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied that is possesses nuclear weapons, but it is widely accepted that the country holds them in its arsenal.  And while North Korea ratified the treaty in the 1980s, it withdrew its commitment in 2013 and has since conducted numerous nuclear weapon tests.

What is the day after Halloween called?

Answer: The day after Halloween is called All Saints Day. Celebrated on Nov. 1 each year, it is a Christian day of solemnity that is also referred to as Solemnity of All Saints, or All Hallow. In Western Christian religions, the day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls' Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven. The Roman Catholic religion views All Saints Day as a Holy Day of Obligation, which means that attendance at mass is required.

Answer: Montpelier is the capital city of the U.S. state of Vermont. As the site of Vermont's state government, it is the least-populous state capital in the United States with a population of 7,855 at the 2010 census. Located in Montpelier are the New England Culinary Institute, the annual Green Mountain Film Festival and the headquarters of several insurance companies. Montpelier is the only U.S. state capital without a McDonalds. The state capital is also the largest producer of maple syrup in the U.S. It was named after Montpellier, in southern France.

Answer: Blood is red because of the hemoglobin inside our red blood cells. Hemoglobin is a complex protein found in red blood cells that contains an iron molecule. Each hemoglobin protein is made up subunits called hemes, which are what give blood its red color. The main function of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen from the lungs to the body tissues, and to exchange the oxygen for carbon dioxide, and then carry the carbon dioxide back to the lungs and where it is exchanged for oxygen.
