Weighing around three pounds, what is the heaviest internal organ in the human body?

Liver??

Answer: The liver is the body's heaviest internal organ. The liver is located mainly in the upper right portion of your abdomen, beneath the diaphragm and above your stomach. Shaped like a cone, it is a dark reddish-brown organ that weighs about 3 pounds. The liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. More than 500 vital functions have been identified with the liver.

Answer: Rich Uncle Pennybags, was the original mascot of the game Monopoly. He is depicted as a portly old man with a moustache who wears a morning suit and top hat. He made his first appearance outside of Monopoly within the Parker Brothers' game Dig, released in 1940. Rich Uncle Pennybags was modeled after American businessman J. P. Morgan. In 1999, Rich Uncle Pennybags was renamed Mr. Monopoly. The policeman in Monopoly has a name, too. You can thank Officer Edgar Mallory the next time he sends you to jail.

Answer: Little House on the Prairie is an American western drama television series, starring Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, and Karen Grassle, about a family living on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the 1870s and 1880s. The show is an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling series of Little House books. Television producer and NBC executive Ed Friendly became aware of the story in the early 1970s. He asked Michael Landon to direct the pilot movie. Landon agreed on the condition that he could also play Charles Ingalls.

Well I guess I was really off!! I thought LH was set in South or North Dakota?? Oh well!!

Answer: In 1980, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and the Ad Council introduced McGruff the Crime Dog to the nation and began encouraging Americans to help “Take A Bite Out Of Crime.” Today, more than 93% of children recognize this icon that provides safety tips for adults and kids. Over the years, the Crime Prevention campaign has helped teach kids, teens, and adults about violence and drugs, and the public-service-advertising spots (PSAs) have inspired millions to get involved in building safer, more caring communities

Why Was Davis Chosen as President of the Confederacy?

Davis had a great deal of military and political experience. He had been serving as a U.S. Senator from Mississippi at the time Mississippi seceded. After that, he resigned his appointment as senator January 21, 1861. He was a West Point graduate, had served in the Blackhawk War and was with the First Dragoons before entering politics. After he attended the Democratic National Convention, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1845.

Davis traded his political career for the military in 1846 when he led a group of Mississippi riflemen in the Mexican War, distinguishing himself. He reentered the political arena in 1857, serving in the U.S. Senate and as Secretary of War.

What Future President’s Daughter Did Davis Marry?

He married Sarah Knox Taylor, nicknamed “Knoxie.” She was the second child of General Zachary Taylor, who was an officer in the U.S. Army and was later elected President of the United States. At the time he met Sarah Taylor, Davis was serving as a lieutenant under General Taylor. Taylor was opposed to the marriage because he didn’t want his daughter to be a military wife, deeming it too difficult. Davis resigned his military commission in order to marry Taylor and returned to Mississippi to develop the plantation next door to his brother’s. Davis and Taylor were married in 1835; however, the marriage was short-lived. She died of malaria a few months later. Davis remained a widow for about eight years before remarrying.

Under What President Did Davis Serve as Secretary of War?

Franklin Pierce named Davis as his Secretary of War in 1853. During his tenure, Davis advocated for the construction of the transcontinental railroad. He was also a supporter of the Gadsden Purchase, which brought the southern parts of New Mexico and Arizona into the United States and redefined its border. He worked to strengthen coastal defenses and the U.S. Army. In addition, he was the supervisor for the expansion of the U.S. Capitol.

When Was Davis Captured by Union Forces?

Soldiers from the 4th Michigan Cavalry under Union General James Wilson captured and arrested Davis on May 10, 1865, close to Irwinville, Georgia. He was reportedly wearing a black shawl belonging to his wife when he was captured, however, his wife maintained that she had lent it to him because he was ill. Davis was held as a prisoner at Fort Monroe in Virginia and charged with treason although he was never tried for the offense.

He was initially held in shackles, but public opinion against it resulted in the shackles being removed one day after the story appeared in a Philadelphia newspaper. The charge of treason was dropped, and Davis was granted amnesty by President Andrew Johnson in December 1868.The case by the government was dropped a few months later.

Answer: In 1893, Thomas Edison built the first movie studio in the United States when he constructed the Black Maria, a tarpaper-covered structure near his laboratories in West Orange, New Jersey, and asked circus, vaudeville, and dramatic actors to perform for the camera. He distributed these movies at vaudeville theaters, penny arcades, wax museums, and fairgrounds. The studio made close to 1,200 films. Some of the studio's notable productions include The Kiss (1896); The Great Train Robbery (1903); Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1910); and Frankenstein (1910).

Why Did FDR Keep Winning?

Voters did not really want to deal with major political changes during the Great Depression and World War II, and FDR was doing a good enough job of leading the country to recovery and victory that most saw no reason to not re-elect him. FDR was originally not going to run after his second term; at that point in time, there was no official term limit for presidents, but there was an unspoken one set by George Washington, who claimed that longer presidencies ran the risk of becoming tyrannical. On occasion, someone would try to run for a third term but be defeated instead, such as Teddy Roosevelt. However, the growing problems in Europe (remember, the U.S. was not involved in the war yet) convinced FDR that he had to run again to try to provide consistent leadership. He ran for a fourth term for the same reason.

Why Were Some of His Supporters Alarmed by His Re-election?

As much as FDR's supporters like his policies, some of them were opposed to his running for more than two terms because they subscribed to Washington's interpretation, about longer service risking tyranny. They understood that the country was facing tough situations but still felt that the president should not stick around for too long, to prevent him from wielding too much influence over the country. Obviously, voters did not agree.

Why Were Presidents Limited to Only Two Terms After FDR's Death?

The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was proposed in 1947 and ratified in 1951. The amendment stated that no president should serve more than two terms (more on this in a bit, but that's the gist of the law). The amendment was created for two reasons: one, to reduce the chances of presidential deaths in office (if they're prevented from running and serving repeatedly, there's a smaller chance they'll be in office when they die), and two, to prevent -- wait for it -- the risk of tyranny, or at the very least, having way too much influence over government policy.

What Legal Loophole Allows a President to Still Serve More Than Two Terms?

There is one situation in which a president may serve more than two four-year terms. The 22nd Amendment states that presidents will not be elected more than twice, and if a vice president becomes president and then serves more than two years of that term, that person may not be elected as president more than once. For example, VP Doe becomes president due to a resignation and serves three years of that presidential term. Doe can run for and be elected to the presidency one more time.

However, there's a loophole. If the vice president serves less than two years of another person's presidential term, then that VP can run for two more terms as president. So let's say VP Doe becomes president due to a resignation when there is only one year to go before the next election. President Doe can then run for and be elected for two more four-year terms.

Answer: What!? Pasta at McDonald’s? McDonald’s is well-known for localization of its menu. As a result, almost every country in the world has at least one different item on its menu. McSpaghetti is available only at McDonald's in the Philippines. The pasta is sold as a main course or as a side with their fried chicken drumstick. No nutritional facts were available on the McDonald’s Philippines website but it probably is not the healthiest choice. Aside from McSpaghetti, McDonald's Philippines also offers Chicken McDo, Burger McDo, and the Hamdesal.
