Who is the only person to play in both a Super Bowl and World Series?

Deion! Bo Jackson also played both sports, but never in a WS or SB. I believe Troy was drafted by a baseball team but never player professional, not sure about Jim Thorpe!!

Answer: Deion Sanders is the only person to play in both a Super Bowl and the World Series. After Deion Sanders was drafted by the Falcons in the 1989 NFL draft, he also signed on to play baseball with the New York Yankees. Playing for both teams, he became the only athlete ever to hit a home run and get a touchdown in the same seven-day period! Sanders played in the 1992 World Series with the Atlanta Braves, and won back-to-back Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and Cowboys. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

What Was Mattel Before Barbie Came Along?

You may not believe it, but Mattel actually started off as a picture framing company run by the husband of a woman named Ruth Handler, and American girls used to be really into paper dolls. But when Ruth saw a 3-D molded German doll on a trip to Europe, she had an idea for a new product line.

They named the dolls they started selling Barbie, after her daughter Barbara. And when it came time to introduce a male counterpart for Barbie, they named him after their son Kenneth.

In 2004, What Major Breakup Occurred?

Now that you know they were inspired by brother and sister, maybe it won't be a surprise to realize that Barbie and Ken broke up back in 2004. We know this might come as a shock to you, and maybe you missed it because, you know, you were an adult, but one of America's most famous couples did indeed split up. Apparently even couples that can't talk get into fights. The two were separated for a whopping seven years until Ken started appearing on billboards in New York and LA reading "Barbie, you are the only doll for me." The two got back together and their Facebook status is now "in a relationship." That's how you know it's gonna last this time.

What Weight Loss Tip Did Slumber Party Barbie Give Girls Across America?

Barbie has received plenty of criticism over the years for arguably reinforcing an unhealthy body image and therefore indirectly reinforcing the unhealthy diet choices it would take to achieve that body.

But back in 1965, you could go ahead and completely drop the words "arguably" and "indirectly." That year marked the debut of Slumber Party Barbie which came with a scale permanently set to 110 pounds and a book titled HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT, which simply had one instruction, "DON'T EAT!" Which, in fairness, may be the only way a real-life human being could achieve Barbie's waist line.

What Song Did Barbie Use a Parody of to Promote Their "Fashionista" Dolls?

In 1997, the band Aqua released the song "Barbie Girl." You may remember it as giving us such brilliant lines as "Life in plastic, it's fantastic." But Mattel remembers it as "the song that made a ton of money off the Barbie brand without paying a cent of royalties or getting any permission." They sued, but the case was thrown out and the song was deemed protected by parody law. The final judicial decision included the slightly unorthodox instruction "The parties are advised to chill." But in 2009, Barbie reached an agreement to release their own version of the song with a few alterations - but staying largely faithful to the original - to promote their Fashionista line. Yup, that's right, there was a Fashionista Barbie. Why? Because at one point or another, every form of Barbie known to man has existed.

What is the only NFL team to go undefeated in a season and then win the Superbowl?

Miami Dolphins

Answer: The 1972 Dolphins are the only National Football League team to complete an entire season undefeated from the opening game through the Super Bowl (or championship game). The undefeated campaign was led by coach Don Shula and notable players Bob Griese, Earl Morrall, and Larry Csonka. The 1972 Dolphins went 14–0 in the regular season and won all three post-season games, including Super Bowl VII against the Washington Redskins, to finish 17–0.

Answer: "I'm going to Disney World!" is an advertising slogan used in a series of television commercials by The Walt Disney Company to promote the company's theme park resorts. The commercials most often are broadcast following the Super Bowl and typically feature an NFL player shouting the phrase immediately after the championship game. When the Giants defeated the Broncos in Super Bowl XXI in 1987, Phil Simms was named MVP. Simms is credited for being the first to use the phrase following the Super Bowl victory.

1. Who Won the Famous Jordan vs. Bird Shooting Contest of 1993?

One of the greatest, and most famous, Super Bowl commercials of all time featured basketball legends Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, shooting baskets until one man missed. That poor soul would then have to watch the other eat a Big Mac on front of them, as if they weren’t obscenely rich enough to buy their own damn burger.

So who missed? Nobody. Even though the shots got more and more elaborate, culminating in one taken from the top of a skyscraper, neither Jordan nor Bird missed. Too bad they didn’t just give up and decide to go halfsies — that Big Mac must’ve been frigid.

2. What Character Did a Little Boy Dress Up as When He Realized He Could Magically Turn a 2012 Volkswagen Passat On?

One of the most popular Super Bowl commercials of all-time (especially online, where it’s racked up over 58 million hits), the little boy in question portrayed Darth Vader, using The Force on everything in the house, but to no avail. Finally, while waving his hands in front of his father’s Passat, Dad remotely activates it, making it appear like his son just successfully used The Force. The boy’s utter bewilderment is both priceless and completely adorable.

3. What Does “Mean” Joe Greene Offer a Kid Who Gave Him a Post-Game Coke in 1979?

They called Joe Greene “mean” for a reason; he was surly and angry, not exactly a player for a young boy to approach. But that’s what happened in this commercial, as a boy walks up to Greene while in the stadium tunnel after the game (it was the ’70s, before they invented security.) After drinking the bottle of Coke, Greene suddenly becomes happy and wistful, tossing his game jersey to the awestruck child and flashing a giant toothy grin in his direction.

4. In Tabasco’s 1998 Ad, Why Did the Mosquito Explode?

When listing companies known for memorable Super Bowl ads, Tabasco is rarely mentioned, though they should be. They did, after all, produce this awesome commercial that anyone who’s ever been bitten by a mosquito (which is to say, everybody on Earth) cheered whole-heartedly.

A man’s eating pizza covered in hot sauce, and a mosquito bites him. The bug then flies off, only to quickly explode into a ball of flames. Unfortunately for the annoying little sucker, the man’s blood was laced with way too much spice for any one insect to handle. It’s such a great visual, we don’t care that it’s scientifically impossible.

5. Name One Reason Linebacker Terry Tate Tackled Slacking Office Workers in Reebok’s 2003 Commercial?

This one’s extra fun, because there are four possible answers. A corporation hires football linebacker Terry Tate as their company enforcer, and he’s got a lot to enforce. One worker takes a way-too-long coffee break, another neglects to include a cover sheet on his TPS report (and as we all know, if it doesn’t have a cover sheet it doesn’t exist,) another makes an unauthorized long-distance call, and another plays Solitaire on the clock. All are painfully tackled for their sub-par performances. Still, it beats a written corrective action.

If these trivia questions are any indication, this year’s Super Bowl commercials should be filled with memorable moments, top-notch comedy, and tons of fodder for future trivia games. Oh yeah, there’s football too. 60 minutes of it, even. You can watch that, if you must.

Which team, led by Joe Namath, won Super Bowl III in 1969?

Answer: Three days before Super Bowl III, “Broadway Joe” Namath told reporters that he guaranteed a Jets victory over the heavily-favored Colts. Namath and the Jets followed through on the guarantee, defeating the Colts 16-7. Namath, who completed 17 out of 28 passes for 206 yards, was named as the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player, despite not throwing a touchdown pass in the game or any passes at all in the fourth quarter. The Jets are the only team to score only one touchdown and still win the Super Bowl.

Answer: Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in the Solar System. It is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in the Solar System combined. With a radius of 43,440.7 miles, Jupiter is 11 times wider than Earth. If Earth were the size of a nickel, Jupiter would be about as big as a basketball. Its atmosphere is mostly hydrogen and helium, and its iconic Great Red Spot is a giant storm bigger than Earth that has raged for hundreds of years. More than 1,300 Earths would fit inside Jupiter.

Why Should Ruth be Grateful That He Got into Trouble a Lot as a Kid?

When Ruth was just seven years old, he was already getting in trouble for drinking, chewing tobacco, and taunting the police. Seven!! Now that's an American hero! He was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, a Catholic orphanage, to smooth out the rough edges. It's there that a team of monks taught him to play baseball. And apparently they did a pretty good job. We're just glad that boys achieving borderline mythological abilities from teams of monks is something that actually happens in real life.

11 hours ago, phkrause said:

How Did he Get the Name Babe?

The young Monkian prodigy caught the attention of Jack Dunn, the then-owner of the Baltimore Orioles (then a minor league team). Problem was, Ruth didn't have a legal guardian, and he needed one to play ball at age 19. So Dunn did what any truly devoted owner would do: He became the kid's guardian, and suddenly Ruth had the nickname "Dunn's new babe." We assume people got tired of saying the whole thing which is better for us, because "Babe Ruth" has a nice ring to it.

11 hours ago, phkrause said:

Why Did Babe Ruth Spend Time in Jail in 1921?

Even though he was raised by a team of monks, Ruth still had a habit of breaking the law. Especially behind the wheel. He racked up a ton of tickets, accidents and other violations and after his second time being caught speeding in a month, he was thrown in jail. And if you thought the guy who gave you a speeding ticket was a jerk, wait until you hear this: Ruth was only going 26 miles per hour.

Of course Ruth wasn't treated like all criminals. He got out of jail and received a motor escort straight to Yankee Stadium where he played in that night's game.

11 hours ago, phkrause said:

How Did Babe Ruth's Temper Contribute to an Almost-Perfect Game?

Okay, so apparently those monks didn't do anything aside from teach him how to hit, because Ruth actually got in trouble plenty. One time he even punched an ump. The first batter of a game drew a walk on four balls, two of which Ruth felt were strikes. He and the ump started arguing and Ruth was told to keep pitching or he'd be thrown out of the game. Replied the Babe, "You run me out and I will come in and bust you on the nose." So in fairness, he did warn him. The ump tossed him, and Ruth clocked the umpire behind the left ear. It got so bad that cops had to drag him off the field.

The next pitcher, Ernie Shore, came in, and the guy Ruth walked was thrown out trying to steal second. Then Shore got out the next 26 batters he faced. Because Ruth started the game, and the first guy reached on a walk, Ernie Shore didn't get credit for the perfect game. But he came as close as you possibly can, and gets a fun little slot in the history books for it. So maybe he's one guy who can be grateful that Ruth never truly tamed his temper.

Answer: The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also known as Star Wars, was a program first initiated on March 23, 1983 under President Ronald Reagan. The intent of the program was to develop a sophisticated anti-ballistic missile system in order to prevent missile attacks from other countries, specifically the Soviet Union. SDI was nicknamed largely in the mainstream media as "Star Wars", after the popular 1977 film. In the end, $30 billion had been invested in the program and no laser and mirror system was ever used. The program was eventually abandoned.

Answer: Snoo, also colloquially known as the Reddit Alien, is the mascot of the social news site Reddit, which is illustrated as a small creature with red eyes and a single antennae protruding from its head. The Snoo was originally created by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and has stood as the mascot of the site since its initial launch in 2005. Created simply as a doodle by Ohanian while in college, Snoo has become one of the most popular aliens of all time. The name “Snoo” is a derivative of ’Snew.com, an early name for Reddit prior to its launch.
