Guest Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 “The state of the Church represented by the foolish virgins, is also spoken of as the Laodicean state.” RH 8/19/90 “The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in her midst.”[Cf: Notebook Leaflets, Volume 1 p. 99 From reading the from RH article above is clear that the Laodiceans are the foolish virgins (RH 8-l9-90) who will be spewed out and finally lost if they remain in that lukewarm condition. No one needs to remain in that condition if he will accept God's remedy. When one has truly repented and been converted to the experience of "brotherly love," then this class of people will be in the Philladelphia condition and God would no longer considers him a Laodicean any more than a converted cannibal is still a heathen. The word “condition” was nothing I dreamed up, it is a word that the SOP uses over and over when speaking of these 7 different condition the church can fall into at any time. “The number 7 indicates completeness, and is symbolic of the fact that the messages extend to the end of time, while the symbols used reveal the condition of the church at different periods in the history of the world. p. 585, Para. 3, [AA]. Moderators Bravus Posted October 7, 2004 Moderators Posted October 7, 2004 Hmm. I really don't want to get into this argument, but there's one simple point that I think needs to be made: differences from Luther's translation and the KJV are not *by definition* errors. Given that new manuscripts have become available, they could actually be improvements in the accuracy of the translation of the earlier texts. The logical problem here is with setting the KJV as the zero point for changes/errors. Surely the original text as it flowed from the pen of Moses, Jeremiah, John and Paul is the zero point? And even if the KJV translated these original texts very well (impossible, since we don't have them, we have much later manuscripts), there would be issues of translation, since it's impossible (and undesirable) to simply map one text across into a different language. (Don't get me started on the Whorf-Sapir hypothesis!) I think a big part of the problem is that some of the edifice of cards that is detailed Adventist doctrine is erected on specific words in the KJV, and if the wording changes, the edifice shakes. But it shouldn't be that fragile - if it is grounded in spirit and in truth, not in specific words from the 17th century, it shouldn't be easily shaken. Quote Truth is important
Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Maybe one of these days the church will find some of the 30,000+ verses of the bible. 2Chr.34 [14] And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses. [15] And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan. [21] Go, inquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found : for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book. [30] And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD. Ya mean to tell me they LOST it??? Hmmm..I wonder how that happened.. Quote
Nicodema Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I always wondered about that, and wondered WHAT that "book of the law" was ... surely it could not have been the Torah since they so carefully preserved it ... ??? Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Quote: found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses. The attitude has prevailed throughout history.. SHUT UP GOD! SHUT UP PROPHETS! WHAT CAN WE DO TO SHUT GOD, JESUS AND THE PROPHETS UP??? HMMM..THEY KILLED THEM..AND HID AND OR DESTROYED THE WORDS How do yo shut up God?? Today you preach the minimum amount of scripture from the pulpit. I was at a large SDA church 25 years ago and heard a sermon where there was ZERO bible mentioned. I remember the pastor was on vacation and when the church board met next..I mentioned that and he wanted to know who it was..I didn't tell him. At least he wanted to know.. Quote
Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I remember seeing a couple articles in the Advent Review by Jan Paulsen..when he first came to the top. ZERO scripture...just the typical ra ra ra..institutional mangerial psychobabble... doesn't set too well with me. Quote

Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Ed, Sheesh!.. I think I have said it all here..within the limits of CA censorship.. It is really sensitizing people to something different. Some won't see anything better until they get out of their comfort zone... It's like...."hey my rusted 61 Falcon stil gets me to the store..even though I have to breath exhaust fumes and the heater and radio don't work" They don't want the free new Lexus/Mercedes..because they are scared of the gadgets on the dash. I am preparing to invite my SDA pastor to my Baptist friends church so he can see how he preaches..I did that one time to another SDA pastor and I remember him saying audible AMENS during this guy's sermon. And that pastor had a 600? member congregation. Comes down to the hooked on dope thing...if the people are content with their non fat dry milk TYPICAL TOPICAL SERMON euphoria/fix..then they will keep coming to the weekly pusher. The bible presented could be like Hometown Buffet...yet usually it is like Ensure. I already gave my ...nowhere near a dummy... pastor the pastor burnout article that I pushed at a conference president (who mailed it to all of his pastors in his conference) Not a peep.. Can old dogs be taught new tricks? Can any pastor trash OLD wine skins?? Quote

To your knowledge do you believe SDA ministers ever received NLP training, Lab #1. or #2? I think I have already answered that. But for more detail ... I know the accusations, I've seen them in black and white. I know the answers, I've also seen them in black and white. I know NLP. I have the original books, plus two others, one psychological, one business, in which the authors claimed to be using NLP. (The psychological one definitely did. The business one definitely did not.) I know the seminars (My husband attended. I read the materials and discussed them with him.) of which it was claimed that they included NLP. They did not. Not even a whiff of it. Quote

Well a man after Gods own heart could justify not telling the truth for his own reason, but it was WRONG resulting in the death of the high priest. But that was back then, today God no longer winks at our ignorance according to the book of Acts. "The young man was in constant fear of discovery, and in his extremity he resorted to deception. David told the priest that he had been sent by the king on a secret errand, one which required the utmost expedition. Here he manifested a want of faith in God, and his sin resulted in causing the death of the high priest. Had the facts been plainly stated, Ahimelech would have known what course to pursue to preserve his life. God requires that truthfulness shall mark His people, even in the greatest peril. David asked the priest for five loaves of bread. There was nothing but hallowed bread in the possession of the man of God, but David succeeded in removing his scruples, and obtained the bread to satisfy his hunger. p. 655, Para. 3, [PP]. Quote

Guest Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 “Whatever the mind can believe it can achieve.” ---------------------- Adventist should recognize this kind of thinking due to it being placed in their stop smoking program, a program that never once mentions the POWER that Jesus or His Father provides to help. Even a Satanist could attend this stop smoking program and not be offended. This saying “Whatever the mind can believe, it can achieve” came straight from the pit of hell. Naponion Hill told in his published book he was given “this divine secret and what I have given to you, you go give to others”.
