Lutz13 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 So you two guys think that there will be people who don't make it, and have to get burned up because they believed excactly what the Bible says, and never come around to your viewpoint? What motivates you? Fear that God will blow you to pieces if you do not follow Him? I do not understand how you cannot fear your version of God. Quote
skyblue888 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Did not the Jews lose their eternal life because they were plagued with a misconception of the character of God? Even John the Baptist expected the Lord to reveal Himself as a God that answereth by fire! See D.A.215, end of second parg. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Because that's what it looks like you're saying. Especially you sky. Who are the two guys? Quote Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.
epaminondas Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Jesus said few find the narrow way. If we double the world's population and say about 16 billion ever lived it would seem most of them are going to be toast. The final, final solution. It's not as grim as it sounds, they'll be as if they never existed, except in the memories of those who knew them. They won't be in pain or even aware that they are no more. God is the creator and can do what He wishes to do with His creation. The potter and the clay. If anyone can come up with a better solution, let's have it. Maybe one should turn these contrary sinners into robots that can't sin. Pre-frontal lobotomies - stand in a nice straight line, you sinners, it doesn't hurt that much. That unfortunately does away with the concept of freedom of choice, which God seems to prize nearly above everything else. So, what else? Quote

Why would I be afraid of a God who loves me and takes care of me. He has offered me every opportunity not to be lost. Even beyond what would have been fair to me. God will do his "strange act" because it's the only solution. He has to. And I'm grateful that he will. Would you rather sin be allowed to exist for eternity? Would that be fair to the universe? What motivates you? Are you saying that if what the Bible says about this is true, then you want nothing more to do with God? Quote
green Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 This is a Loving God and he want all his people to be sAved and not damned. Yes, it is encumbered upon us, his children to do his will. "His strange act", please explain yourself..... What text are you referring to? Quote
Guest Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Isa 28:21 Quote

Guest Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 The people who will be lost are those who have trampled through the blood of Jesus Christ and spat in his face at every turn. He has gone out of his way to save them, and they simply refuse to the very end. So how can you even say something like that Lutz? Quote

Or maybe he will allow a mob of criminals beat you to death or blow you to bits? How does this change anything and make you less of a "captive"? It seems to me that this is what is being said by those who insist that it's better if God doesn't destroy the wicked but that He allows the wicked to kill each other by mass murder. Would that be "justice" and "love" in your thinking? Consider this: Since God is the only One who gives life, and since all sin is really committed against Him, isn't He the only One who can rightfully punish sin and take away life? Doesn't He have a right to punish the wicked? In fact, wouldn't God have been in the right if He had chosen to allow the whole world to reap the eternal consequences of rebellion and sin? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
wayfinder Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Lutz13, And you are creating your own god, giving him the characteristics you want him to have. Quoting God from scripture is not bringing God down at all. Quote

green Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I agree with you Lutz13, no, it isn't bring God down at all however, it seem that this isn't God's promise but, the man default....you are determining the intent of God and I think you are off base. This is what you think, not what the word says or the intent. Quote

I take it you didn't read the story of the guide in a prior post. It is the guides fault they go left instead of right? Knowing full well that left leads to death. Quote
Lutz13 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Lutz13, And you are creating your own god, giving him the characteristics you want him to have. Quoting God from scripture is not bringing God down at all. Really? I'm just taking the evidence I find and trying to understand it. Such as when God said that He would cause adversity in David's house. That He would cause David's neighbour to take his wives in front of all Israel. Yet we can know that God didn't actually do it, but allowed sin to run its course without intervening. Gods fault? Or David's? Is God a monster for allowing the rabid dog to attack David? Since you want to use that analogy so bad. Perhaps Saul as well? Judas? Jesus? Jerusalem in 70 AD? Miriam...? Shall I list several more? Who moved David to number Israel? One account says God did, another says Satan... Quote

wayfinder Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Lutz13, Are you trying to understand it, or make it fit your understanding. We dare not sit in judgment on God. If God says He is the one who executes the wicked, we dare not say the Satan does it. Quote

Or David's? You are taking a chapter out of the middle of the book, and saying: "This is the way it must be at the end also". But it isn't so. That's where you go wrong. Quote
teresaq Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 who has said sin wont be exterminated permanently? is that what you are hearing? the issue is how it will be exterminated. the issue is whether sin is dangerous and ultimately kills us one way or the other. or if it is "innocuous" to use someone elses word. i see sin and satan as very dangerous, leading to misery, pain and suffering. if God didnt protect us so diligently we would have exterminated ourselves long, long ago. but for the constant love and protection of God here we are.
