Increased Light to Shine.--A spirit of pharisaism has been coming in upon the people who claim to believe the truth for these last days. They are self-satisfied. They have said, "We have the truth. There is no more light for the people of God." But we are not safe when we take a position that we will not accept anything else than that upon which we have settled as truth. We should take the Bible, and investigate it closely for ourselves. We should dig in the mine of God's word for truth. "Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart." Some have asked me if I thought there was any more light for the people of God. Our minds have become so narrow that we do not seem to understand that the Lord has a mighty work to do for us. Increasing light is to shine upon us; for "the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."--Review and Herald, June 18, 1889. {CW 34.2}

Many Gems Yet to Be Discovered.--New light will ever be revealed on the word of God to him who is in living connection with the Sun of Righteousness. Let no one come to the conclusion that there is no more truth to be revealed. The diligent, prayerful seeker for truth will find precious rays of light yet to shine forth from the word of God. Investigation of Doctrine.--There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. {CW 35.2}

Adventists, I’m asking you, tell me of the increasing light that has come to the church to you. No I don’t hold to emerging church and the spiritual exercises, NLP, Super NLP and Lab 1,2 and 3 and more, that was dropping down into the darkness so don’t bring up that stuff.

You are locked on prophecy and the church has taken up “the new age salvation theology”.

Maybe don’t comment the new light you see is come in, but I’d rather you made a thread on the subject.

Your accusations of the church are founded on ropes of sand. There are, apparently, things that you do not understand about "new light."

The Bible has a very specific example of "new light." It is in The NT. I wonder if you even know the text, where it is, and what it means? Certainly; going by your O.P. here, you have no idea what new light is, and what the purpose of it is.

Thanks Gibs, as I also respect all of your great posts even though I may not totally agree with them because I am just a student here anyway. As for not posting for a bit here, I was traveling from CA to CO for dental work and to visit my kids and grnd kids. Right now I am in some slight pain, but thought I would check out what my FRIENDS (yes, isn't that what all of you poster's are?) were up to.

Not sure if I missed a post where someone answered my question on what type of new light the ONE person found in Matt. 24:45 will be feeding his fellow servants at the time Jesus comes like a thief. Anyone have some insight on this?

On God's side, God will wage warfare with the weapons of righteousness. This means that He will fight under definite limitations, yet it will prove that righteousness is nonetheless more powerful than wickedness. Inspired with confidence as they view the vast numbers on their side and charged with scorn as they assess how few stand for God's truth, the wicked will BOLDLY UNFURL THE SUNDAY FLAG before the world, flaunting it in the faces of God and His people.

But the righteous will not be impressed by numbers, nor dismayed by the lack of them. They will measure all things by the creative power of God's word of which their beloved Sabbath is the living emblem. In the light of that power, all opposing forces will be as nothing to them.

In every victory gained for God's cause so far, His people, having been blessed with large views of His almighty power, were able to accurately measure the power of the enemy. As they saw how small the opposition was in comparison to the awesome power of their Leader, strong faith arose within them and they were armed to do marvelous deeds. Hebrews 11.

It is unfortunate that these triumphs were the exception rather than the norm, the consequence being that the termination of the great controversy has been seriously delayed. Each victory gained however is a type and an assurance that when God's people at last consistently advance in His power, the work will be done.

David's conquest of the mighty Goliath is an excellent example of this. Prior to his arrival at the battle front to re-provision his brothers, he had gazed into the heavens and on the earth beneath until he had seen something of God's mighty power and had learned to measure all things by this standard. Consequently, when the lion and the bear raided his flocks, he was able to go against them in faith and win.

These experiences were not shared by Saul and his soldiers. They knew only the force of arms. Therefore, when the Philistine giant presented himself before them with the challenge to come down and fight, not one man was prepared to go. Knowing so little, if anything, of God's might, they could only measure Goliath against themselves. They had no difficulty seeing that they were no match for the enemy. So day after day passed by and the issue remained unresolved.

It was an ambarrassing situation for Saul and his subjects who professed to be the invincible followers of the Creator of the heavens and the earth. They had a name and a reputation to live up to, but it seemed that whatever wonderful achievements in the past had honored God, His glory and presence were now departed from them. The promises were in the scrïptures as clear and bright as ever, but there was no evidence that they would be fulfilled in this predicament.

Then David, filled with glowing faith born of a conscious sense of God's presence and power, arrived on the scene. Inspired by God, he offered himself as the answer to Goliath's taunts, and, after discarding the heavy armour the king had ordered, he sallied forth dressed only in a light shepherd's tunic, and armed with no more than a simple slingshot.

Goliath, in his total ignorance of God's power, knew nothing of the real force coming against him. David seemed to be no more than an inexperienced and evidently very foolhardy, self-confident youth who was prepared to throw his life away on a hopeless venture. Goliath, therefore, advanced on the youth, angered that he should be required to meet so "unworthy" an opponent,and determined to exhibit his contempt for this insult by strking the young man down. Great was the surprise of all when the outcome brought, instead, the death of Goliath and the utter defeat of the Philistines.

Both David and the rest of Israel who were present that day, were observers of the seventh-day Sabbath, but while David had God's power within him, to a great extent the rest did not. This was proved by their utter inability to vanquish the Philistine champion. Therefore, the Sabbath, as they held it, was separated from God's power and so could not be the Sabbath as the Lord gave it. They worshipped and ceased from their physical labors on the correct day of the week, but did not know in their life the truth and power of the Sabbath of the Lord. The Sabbath is the memorial of God's creative power manifested in creation and redemption. Therefore, on that triumphant day, David alone demonstrated possession of the Sabbath of God and the vitory was gained.

This history will be repeated.

At the present time, we, the professed people of God are upholding the seventh-day Sabbath and are devoted to ending sin's reign and this world's history. Opposing us are powerful Babylonian forces among whom are intellectual and theologian giants who, like Goliath, are challenging the Seventh-day Sabbath, unfurling their Sunday flag before the world, flaunting it in the faces of God and His people. Because, once more, the living power of God is separated from those who uphold the seventh day, we have no capacity to meet and vanquish these enemies of all righteousness. The result, like that in David's time, is a stand-off, delaying the completion of the work and the second coming of Christ!

However, this situation will not continue indefinitely. As God prepared David for his important future role, so, at the present time, He is preparing a people to topple the Babylonian giants. The training again involves the revelation of the mighty power of the word of God in redemption through the merits of the Redeemer, so that His people will have a standard by which to assess the capacity of all other forces. The more clearly we know and discern God's infinite power, the smaller in our eyes will the confederacy of evil appear. This was the experience of Moses, Daniel, David and Jonh the Baptist and many others.

They saw the invisible, that is, they recognized in nature the working of infinite power, that "Above, beneath, beyond, abides Infinite Love, working out all things to accomplish the good pleasure of His goodness." 2 Thess.1:11; Education, p.134.

During the time when Israel and the Philistines confronted each other, David was an unknown factor not taken into account by either side. We have read God's declarations that a Sabbath-keeping people will finish the work. However, without the presence of God's love and power revealed in our lives, day by day, merely observing the correct day of worship does not identify us as the Lord's true army.

We will be surprised one day to find that a little company of true Sabbath-keepers will arise from obscurity just as David did to gain the victory we have futilely striven for so long to obtain, and be awarded the crown we so earnestly desired. Then, too late, we will realize that we have failed to obtain the true qualification for our work. Our disappointment will turn to vengeful rage even as Saul's jealousy was stirred against David until he determined to destroy him. God's true people will find in the end that those who were nearest to them will be their most bitter enemies.

For those of us who have sacrificed greatly for the cause and are confident of an assured place in Heaven, it will be a day of great sadness when we find ourselves disqualified because we had only the appearance but not the reality of the Sabbath truth. 2 Tim.3:5.

Christ was deeply concerned about this problem. He desired that none be deceived by false religion but that all would so clearly see the difference that they would not rest till they found the reality. In very clear language, He warned that the majority, however, would come to the day of final reckoning and be lost while expecting to be saved. Matt.7:22,23.

Obviously then, those who would be champions for the Sabbath in the last days must understand what true Sabbath-keeping involves. Merely being able to debate all the proofs that Saturday is the correct day is not sufficient. The issues go much deeper than that. Therefore, only those who, like David, have God's power embedded within them will be used as God's instruments to vanquish the powers of darkness. They may be few in number, youthful in development, but so mighty in God that they will be invincible. None will be able to stand before them.

Every true child of God aims to be a member of that illustrious company. This is a worthy ambition but it will not be achieved unless there is diligent soul searching to determine the real nature of our Sabbath-keeping. Now is the time to engage in this thorough work. Tomorrow will be too late.

The people of God are those within whom is the righteousness of God obtained through faith in the all-sufficient merits of a crucified and risen Saviour. They are the ones through whom the Lord will vanquish Babylon the Great, and upon whose heads the victor's crown will be placed!

But Seventh Day, God Himself chronicaled in the good ole KJV "Remember".

Ex 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Ex 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Ex 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Ex 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

He has ever come to tabernacle with all His beloved ones in that Holy Day that only He Himself can make Holy. It is a window in time that we are to come and have His light shed upon us in a special way and all the true and faithful in that time He Marks as His Own.

Did He ever change it? Afraid not. Read,

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Could we trust Him if He kept changing? I'm glad for one that He NEVER changes.

Mt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Lu 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

It is a dire thing indeed to teach men to disregard His Law.

Mt 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Here is a very interesting piece of information

regarding what Satan thinks about the Sabbath vs

sunday. Mrs. White, in vision, saw him talking to

his evil angels about this very issue.

"The Lord has clearly defined the road to the City of God; but the great apostate has changed the singpost, setting up a false one--a spurious sabbath, and he says, "I will work at cross-purposes with God. I will empower my delegate, the man of sin, to take down God's memorial, the seventh-day Sabbath. Thus will I show the world that the day sanctified and blessed by God has been changed. That day shall not live in the minds of the people. I will obliterate the memory of it. I will place in its stead a day that cannot be a sign between God and His people. I will lead the people to accept this day, to place upon it the sanctity that God placed upon the seventh day. Through my vicegerent I will exalt myself. The first day shall be extolled, and the Protestant world shall receive this spurious sabbath as genuine."

"Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them." Ezekiel 20:12; Exodus 31:13.

The words, 'A sign between them and Me,' I will make to serve on the side of my sabbath. Thus the world will become mine. I will be ruler of the earth, prince of the world. I will so control the minds under my power that God's Sabbath shall be an object of contempt. A sign? I will make the observance of the seventh day a sign of disloyalty to the authorities of earth. Human laws shall be made so stringent that men and women will not dare to observe the seventh-day Sabbath. For fear of wanting food and clothing, they will join with the world in transgressing God's law; and the earth will be wholly under my dominion.'

The man of sin has instituted a false sabbath, and the professed Christian world has adopted this child of the papacy, refusing to obey God. Thus Satan leads men and women in a direction opposite to the city of refuge; and by the multitudes who follow him, it is demonstrated that Adam and Eve are not the only ones who have accepted the words of the wily foe.

The man of sin has turned the signpost round, so that it points to the path of disobedience as the path of happiness. He has insulted Jehovah by refusing to obey a 'Thus says the Lord.' He has thought to change times and laws. Daniel 7:25. E.G. White, Review and Herald, April 17, 1900.

How come people don't talk about the 'Elijah type' to come that Jesus talked about? Isn't this the ONE person found in Matt. 24:45 that will be feeding his fellow servants (not the world or even so called 'christians') at the time Jesus comes like a thief (not the same event as the coming in the clouds), in order to seal the 144k and 5 wise prior to the start of the time of trouble? Shouldn't we be looking for this ONE person?

Wasn't John the Baptist the same 'Elijah type' and none of the 'learned' leaders of the Jews knew this because they refused to give up the 'light' that they had? Also remember that John the B. did not make new prophecies, but told and preached about the prophecies found in the Law and the Prophets.

Therefore, this ONE 'good and faithful servant' will be doing the same thing. He will be teaching people to do TWO things--keep all of the ten commandments AND learn and understand the words of Jesus and obey them--as found in Rev. 12:17. Also remember that when Revelation was written, Paul's words were known and IF they were to be of importance, then Jesus would have included them in that one verse--but He didn't!

After watching this video, my first reaction was to say to myself, "Typical sermon." There is nothing new under the sun. I remember hearing exactly the same type of preaching at the campus church where I was taking theology in the late seventies. In all of the years that I have been connected with Adventism, I have never heard a sermon on the necessity of appropriating to ourselves the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour and yet in one of our most popular books written by Mrs. White, we read, "The only faith that will benefit us is that which embraces Him as a personal Saviour: which appropriates HIS MERITS to ourselves." p.347. Failure to do that makes us mere nominal adventists, as it is written, "Many have a nominal faith in Christ, but they know nothing of that vital dependence upon Him which appropriates the MERITS of a crucified and risen Saviour." Selected Messages, Vol.1,389.

Here is more on the Bible truth on this subject that is so necessary to our present and eternal welfare, that not one in one hundred understands for himself. (1 S.M.360)

The matter of salvation is just as simple as learning the first three letters of the alphabet but we don't understand it. Why?

"The members of our churches are not incorrigible; the fault is not so much to be charged upon them as upon their teachers. The ministers do not feed them." Special Testimonies, Series A, No.1, p.46.

"The matter of salvation is just as simple as ABC. But we don't understand it." Faith & Works,64.

If you have a sense of need in your soul, if you hunger and thirst for righteousnes and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, this is an evidence that Christ has wrought upon your heart in order that He may be sought unto to do for you, through the endowment of the Holy Spirit, those things which it is impossible for you to do for yourself. If you know that you cannot possibly save yourself or of yourself do any righteous action, you are blessed for you are among the poor in spirit and here is what you need to receive, believe and act upon: (See Mount of Blessing, p.19,7)

"The MERITS of a crucified and risen Saviour are the FOUNDATION of the Christian's faith." The Great Controversy,73.

Thus "The MERITS of Christ's sacrifice are SUFFICIENT to present to the Father in our behalf." E. G. White, Steps to Christ,36.

For "Looking unto Jesus and TRUSTING in His MERITS we appropriate the blessings of light and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Testimonies, Vol.5,744.

This is our lifebusiness:

"We shall come in repentance and contrition with a despairing sense of our own finite weakness and learn that we must DAILY APPLY to the MERITS of the blood of Christ that we may become VESSELS FIT for the Master's use." Faith & Works,86.

"The love of God will strengthen the soul, and through the virtue of the MERITS of the blood of Christ we may stand unscathed amid the fire of tempation and trial." Faith & Works,86,87.

If this most precious message was made the focus of all of our preaching and teaching, I believe there would be a revival of primitive faith and godliness for the faith that lays right hold upon the merits of the blood of a crucified and risen Saviour is the faith that brings Christ's righteousness into the life and clothed with the righteousness of Christ and not our own righteousness, we will not depend upon what we can do or what we will do, for Christ's righteousness accomplishes everything as it is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. See Faith & Works, 65,66,27 and Testimonies to Ministers,92,93,96,97.

On page 92 Mrs. White identifies this message as the third angel's message which is to be attended with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in large measure.

Therefore the hatred which these nations possess for the Papacy and the western world which protects and fosters the Papacy is not evidence at all in the case for not believing that the papacy will gain the worship of the whole world. She will do it because she will obtain the power to do it. A situation will develop through the power of spiritualism and the power of the United States under the leadership of Apostate Protestantism, which will give back to the Papacy the supremacy of the world.

On the plains of Dura there were two classes of people before that image and two only. They were the people of the whole world who bowed before the image and there were the faithful few, only three in number, who had no fear of the power of Babylon and whose names were written in the book of life. These alone did not bow before that image, and so it will be again. But a faithful few will know the power of God, and thus will be able to stand against the power of Babylon the Great.

It is the third angel who gives the specific warning against receiving the mark in his forehead or in his hand. To whom does he give this warning? The answer must be to those who are in danger of doing the very thing against which this warning is given. It therefore must be that the angel will go wherever the people of the earth are in peril of this thing.

If there is no danger to any particular people from this peril, then he will not take the specific warning against the beast and his image to them, but another warning to cover the particular peril in which they stood. That is to say, if, in the last days, Russia, India, China, and Iran, were not going to worship the beast and his image, then there would be no point in warning them against something with which they would never be faced. Therefore, the third angel would not go to them.

But the third angel does go to them. This is made certain by the word of the prophecy which states that "The third angel followed them," that is, the other two angels. Of the first of the other two it is specifically stated that he goes to "every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people," with his message. Therefore, if the third angel follows him, it can only be that he too takes his message to every nation, and warns every such people of their danger of woshipping the beast and his image. This can only mean that the beast shall be worshipped by people of every nation, kindred and tongue, otherwise the warning would not go to every such people. If there was to be another test to the people of other lands then a different angel would carry a different warning to them.

Continuing the order of last day events.

The Loud Cry

The great Advent Movement has been in the world since 1833 heralding the coming judment revealing the wonderful work of Jesus in the sanctuary in Heaven and, as light increased, proclaming the Sabbath Truth. But the churches of the world have rejected this light and this has resulted in their and the world's moral decay.

This, the leaders have blamed on the desecration of Sunday, thus further increasing their rejection of God's truth and their support of the institution of the papacy, with the result that the door has been opened still further for rebellion, lawlessness and spiritualism. This gives the devil greater control over things and he unleashes the forces of nature over which he has a measure of control, with the result that earthquakes, devastations, and various disasters strike manking.

The church leaders, eager to secure the power of the state to replace the lost power of God, FINALLY UNITE and go to the civil authorities urging that the Sunday be enforced as THE ONLY MEANS OF RESTORING LAW AND ORDER and the authorities, not realizing that this is the very worse thing they could possibly do to restore any law or order, finally grant the request, the image of the beast is thus set up and the fall of Babylon the Great--spiritual fall--is thus completed, the time having come for the fourth angel to lighten the earth with his glory.

While the world has thus been moving inevitably into the throes of this final disaster and self-destruction, the Lord has been preparing His army for the battle.

As the time approaches for the giving of the loud cry, the faithful servants who make up the nucleus of the fourth angel's movement, draw into a very close unity and develop in character and moral worth so that the Lord can use them in the final battle.

"We shall come in repentance and contrition, with a despairing sense of our own finite weakness and learn that we must DAILY APPLY to the MERITS of the blood of Christ that they may become VESSELS FIT for the Master's use." Faith & Works,86.

Thus "The love of God will strengthen the soul, and through the virtue of the MERITS of the blood of Christ, we may stand UNSCATHED amid the fire of temptation and trial." Ibid,86,87.

The rejection of this invitation to the bidden ones to come to God just as they are, sinful, helpless, dependent, and daily applying to the merits of Christ's shed blood, will cause a definite shaking in their midst with the result that the faithful ones will be thrust out, an event still in the future.

Despite this, many will still be looking in the future for the shaking to come, not realizing that there are two shakings, the first being caused by the STRAIGHT TESTIMONY of the True Witness to the Laodiceans, and the second by the GREAT FINAL TEST at the end of the loud cry period. This means that the door will be closed on those who would not enter, while it is still open to those who have an ear to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

The Straight Testimony: "The gold tried in the fire is FAITH that WORKS by LOVE. Only this can bring us into harmony with God. We may be active, we may do much work; but WITHOUT LOVE, SUCH LOVE AS DWELT IN THE HEART OF CHRIST, we can never be numbered with the family of Heaven." C.O.L.158.

What was the measure of that LOVE that dwelt in the heart of Christ:

"When God gave His Son to our world, he endowed human beings with imperishable riches--riches compared with which the treasured wealth of man since the world began is nothingness. The judgment of the living does not commence with the loud cry but is located at the end of it when the great final test of the death decree is imposed on the people of God. Not one of them can receive the second and final seal until they have passed that dreadful test, the passing of which determines that they shall receive it.

It is the latter rain which completes the work of God's grace in the soul of the believers as they approach this final test, thus finishing in them the work of the first seal in preparation for the great final test and the receiving of the final seal.

Having permitted the prophetic Word to establish these facts for us, it is time to begin a detailed step by step study of the events during the loud cry itself. Nowhere in this better set out than in the chapter entitled, "The Final Warning," beginning on page 603 of The Great Controversy, and it is intended that these pages shall be the basis of our study for this section. It is interesting to note that in the original 1884 edition, this chapter was entitled, "The Loud Cry". The change is merely in the wording, not the meaning, for, is not the loud cry the final warning to the world?

Sky, how come you keep posting quotes of EGW's words? We can all read them for our own books, so what is the big deal with this? Besides, most know that she was wrong about believing that Jesus could come at any time, so her words are not any new light on anything.

Also, the loud cry at midnight (spiritually), is AFTER Jesus has come like a thief. This happens just before the time of trouble.

We, as a people, still do not comprehend the glorious truth that we could from the study of the old sanctuary. Increased light will come from this system of truth. The Sabbath is vitally connected with it. The believers in 1888 had a much greater understanding of this than we have today.

The statements that you posted from the Spirit of Prophecy, and these statements that I have given, really enlighten and direct us to what we should be studying.

Understanding the Sabbath in connection with the sanctuary will keep people from accepting the false Christ, as we know that he comes before the Sabbath Jubile.

The Loud Cry

The great Advent Movement has been in the world since 1833 heralding the coming judment revealing the wonderful work of Jesus in the sanctuary in Heaven and, as light increased, proclaming the Sabbath Truth. But the churches of the world have rejected this light and this has resulted in their and the world's moral decay.

This, the leaders have blamed on the desecration of Sunday, thus further increasing their rejection of God's truth and their support of the institution of the papacy, with the result that the door has been opened still further for rebellion, lawlessness and spiritualism. This gives the devil greater control over things and he unleashes the forces of nature over which he has a measure of control, with the result that earthquakes, devastations, and various disasters strike mankind.

The church leaders, eager to secure the power of the state to replace the lost power of God, FINALLY UNITE and go to the civil authorities urging that the Sunday be enforced as THE ONLY MEANS OF RESTORING LAW AND ORDER and the authorities, not realizing that this is the very worse thing they could possibly do to restore any law or order, finally grant the request, the image of the beast is thus set up and the fall of Babylon the Great--spiritual fall--is thus completed, the time having come for the fourth angel to lighten the earth with his glory.
