Members phkrause Posted June 8, 2012 Members Posted June 8, 2012 Quote: where women have been excluded from any ministry? I think Og just gave you an answer pk You call this an answer? Role distinctions between male & female do not eliminate one's ability to minister. Rather it enhances it by clarifying the sphere of ministry given to each. I'm guessing this is what you meant? Since you couldn't supply it in your post! This doesn't tell me or anyone a thing. Moderators lazarus Posted June 8, 2012 Moderators Posted June 8, 2012 Role distinctions between male & female do not eliminate one's ability to minister. That wasn't pk's original point. PK said "any", suggesting to me types of ministry. I gave one type of ministry where women have been excluded from performing. Whether you agree with WO or not that is self evident. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 14, 2012 Administrators Posted June 14, 2012 ... I'm not too sure what your point is... But I assume it is to suggest, as most opposed to women in ministry do in using this verse, that women are somehow less qualified than men because the difference between how Adam and Eve became sinners. If I understand how this is usually presented, it suggests that because Eve was first tricked by Satan she had greater culpability in leading the whole of mankind into sin. Therefore all women are disqualified from being pastors. Seems a rather weak argument at best to support that idea. But stop and think about it. She was tricked or deceived into sinning by Satan. That would suggest some blame goes to the trickster. It also suggests a lack of intent to knowingly sin. On the other hand, it generally accepted that Adam took the fruit and ate knowing it was wrong to do so. He sinned intentionally. That infers a greater culpability. (In our justice system that would result in a charge of a more serious degree of the crime and greater punishment.) So, which should be more qualified? Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. Overaged Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Relax Tom, I was kinda jokin here. Just curious to see what you would do with it. I know a lot of people do have the view you described, and I was more mocking them. My view on women is much different than what your post suggests... Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 14, 2012 Administrators Posted June 14, 2012 Mocking and joking is not always what it seems to be... And "kinda joking" is sort of like being kinda pregnant. Overaged Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Ha ha; yes. You are right. I guess I figured people would read my mind a bit, especially considering my use of "Big Bird" in the post above. But yes, life is not what it seems, on the internet eh? (do people in the US ever say "eh?") Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." But I assume it is to suggest, as most opposed to women in ministry do in using this verse, Again, I don't see anyone against Women in ministry Tom. I see those that are not convinced that women should not be ordained. Actually I think there was one or two that did make rather crud comments about not wanting a women pastor. But in general most have no problem with women in ministry. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
