John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Yes, I can laugh about it now but when it happened, it wasn't very funny. My Ford truck fortunately didn't have a break down until near the end of its 5,000 mile journey. I was only a couple of hundred miles from home when a water pipe broke. It wasn't a major thing in terms of cost or damage to the truck, yet I did obviously have to get it repaired before I could go on. There were many far worse places where that could have happened. I feel certain that God's Spirit and His angels were with me during the entire trip.

Praise the Lord John, he is good. thumbsup

When did this happen John? Are you talking about this trip, because you were driving a Toyota truck when you left my house.

Yes, it was this trip, as I passed through Arizona, actually near the border of California. I'll post a picture taken of my truck when at the Chiricahua National Monument.

My Truck at Chiricahua National Monument, August 2012

Chiricahau are a tribe of Apache indians whose home was originally in the plains of North America but who migrated in the 1700s into the southeastern part of Arizona. Some of the Chiricahau traveled back and forth between Mexico and what's now the state of Arizona. Like their Navaho "cousins," the Chiricahua would attack Mexicans and steal women, children, and livestock. The Chiricahau were the last indians of North America to cease fighting and settle into life on the reservations. There were small groups of Chiricahua who continued hostilities toward settlement on reservations up through the 1880s and into the 1890s. Bands of Chiricahua were reported in the area of Superstition Mountain as late as the early 20th century.

Cochise Head, Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona, August 2012

Cochise was the greatest of the Chiricahua leaders. He died in 1874, probably of cancer. Even his enemies spoke admiringly of him. (No painting or picture of Cochise exists, but we have detailed descriptions of him and we also have photographs of his two sons.)

Yes, I'm safe at home now, but my trip isn't over yet. Due to truck problems, I had to stop prematurely, before I reached the West coast. So in a day or so, I'm going to take a photographic trip from Yuma, Arizona, to San Diego. I was born in a suburb of San Diego, near the Mex border and the Pacific ocean, and so I want to make it the subject of the last part of my series of pictures on this trip. In this way, the pictures will contain a kind of photo diary of my journey across America from coast to coast.

William Faulkner's bedroom has been left as it was the day he died. (He did not die in this room but at Wright's Sanitarium at Byhalia. He had been drinking excessively and died of a heart attack at 1: 30 A.M., July 6, 1962.)

Picture #3 shows Faulkner's favorite cameras on the mantle in his bedroom where he'd usually kept them. Faulkner loved taking pictures.
