If you ever have a chance to go, I highly recommend it. I found it by chance and am so glad I did. Photography (without flash) was allowed just one day-- the day the artists were there-- and I'm fortunate that's the day I happened to go. I returned the next day but couldn't take any more pictures of the artwork. Moderators John317 Posted September 2, 2012 Author Moderators Posted September 2, 2012 Ashville Art Museum, Ashville, North Carolina, June 2012 Second picture is of a memorial of Thomas Wolfe which stands in front of the Museum. Wolfe, a native of Ashville, wrote a famous book about growing up there, titled, Look Homeward Angel. The people of the town generally rejected Wolfe out of anger over his portrayal of them in his book, and he discovered that he never could go home again. Even though he's been dead for over 70 years, and even though he essentially put Ashville on the world map, yet the town has only just recently become reconciled to the fact that Thomas Wolfe is one of their own. He still is not a popular subject of conversation. (The same thing may be said about William Faulkner and the people of his town.)
