Guest Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hey Robert, what are you going to do if you get to the end of the line and discover that you have been following a man instead of the Holy Spirit? Quote
Robert Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hey Robert, what are you going to do if you get to the end of the line and discover that you have been following a man instead of the Holy Spirit? I think you are judging and need to be removed! Quote
Guest Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Removed? I'm just asking... Your response is interesting. Quote
Robert Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Removed? I'm just asking... Your response is interesting. No, you made a judgmental statement. If I did that I would be removed.... Quote
Guest Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 As far as judging goes, I have judged for myself that I don't believe Jack's teachings.... And then when you say things like: He has more light than EGW, and I see how you believe whatever he says whether you can prove it or not......well, that's why I asked. Quote

LifeHiscost Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron...1 Tim 4:1,2 KJV Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Robert Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 If we "cannot stop sinning" then the power of sin is greater than the power of grace. Then why haven't you stopped sinning? Please don't reduce God's law to the letter and then exclaim, "I'm keeping God's law". The law is also spiritual. For example the letter reads "you shall not commit adultery", but Christ expanded it to mean "if you lust after a woman (even for a second) in your mind you have committed adultery." Rob Quote

I know from reading Jack's books that his talks and writings are full of Ellen White quotes, and I can't imagine his doing that if he didn't believe her to be Bible-based and a woman with great light from God. He's convinced Ellen White was a true prophet of God. Before you can move beyond Ellen White's "limited light," it's necessary to first accept the "small light" God was pleased to show her. I'm sure he wouldn't. Jack is a very gracious individual. He's a terrific guy, who I've never heard bad mouth anybody. He certainly wouldn't speak negatively of Ellen White. (I don't think he'd speak negatively of anyone). Quote Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.
pnattmbtc Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Robert, what is it you're taking issue with? Are you saying it's not possible for us, by faith in Christ, to overcome sin? What precisely is your point please? For example the letter reads "you shall not commit adultery", but Christ expanded it to mean "if you lust after a woman (even for a second) in your mind you have committed adultery." That's like asking a little child learning to walk why he isn't running the New York marathon. The longest journey begins with the first steps. The Holy Spirit lovingly convicts us of our sins and character defects little by little, not all at once. When Jesus calls us to "sin no more," He's telling us the good news that we can live new lives for God and no longer must be a slave of sin and Satan. His commandment is a promise. He wouldn't give a commandment without supplying the power. It comes with the gift of the Holy Spirit to those who truly want Him in their lives and who surrender their will to Him. You know that sanctification is a process. God is not demanding that we never make any mistakes or commit any other sin in our entire lifetime in order to enjoy a loving, faith-based relationship with Him. When Christ commands us not to "go on practicing sin," he's talking about following the leading and conviction of the Holy Spirit. You seem to be still talking about these things as if the believer lives for God in order to earn His favor. The Holy Spirit in the life helps us to move past that point. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Are you saying that you don't think the Holy Spirit uses people and their words to help people? What you say here would mean that you and people like Jack Sequeira would have to keep quiet and let the Holy Spirit guide. I'm not trying to guide or take the Holy Spirit's place any more than you or Jack Sequeira are. Woody Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 If we "cannot stop sinning" then the power of sin is greater than the power of grace. I don't follow that reasoning. But, I will say that the power of choice is greater than the power of grace. We are not saved by stopping to sin. We can stop sinning and still need Grace. Grace is received by choice. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â

Moderators John317 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 25, 2009 Indeed. You are free to decide as is everyone else. See Romans 6 and 8 which talk about the power of grace to prevent sin from reigning in our lives. It shows that instead of being a slave to sin, through the power of the Holy Spirit in the life we become slaves of righteousness.
