Why do you think he rested? and sanctified the Sabbath?

No, I asked you....Read the Genesis account with a open mind...Ask yourself, "why did God rest"....

Gen 2:1 So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2 On the seventh day, having finished his work, God rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy [because it pointed to something], because it was the day when he rested from his work of creation.

Why did God rest? Was He tired? Did need a coffee break?

It was a spiritual rest and a celebration of the perfect creation. Gen. 2: 1-3.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

I don't see that....He rested because His works of creation was perfect! It was sinless....God provided everything....All our first parents had to do was rest in His perfect creation. Their first whole day was the 7th day....They begin by resting....Why did they rest? Why did God rest, according to the context?

The creation, including Adam and Eve, were perfect...they were sinless....God even make them a Garden....Everything was provided.

It was a memorial of the work of creation, and thus a sign of God's power and His love.

Don't forget that God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. Why did God do that? What is purpose of the blessing and setting it aside as holy?

Did God ever take away that blessing and holiness? If not, then the Sabbath did not lose its significance at the Fall.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3. And since the Sabbath is a memorial of the work of creation, it is a token of the love and power of Christ. {FLB 32.3}

it doesn't say that....Be honest! It says he rested because his work was complete....it was perfect....You couldn't add anything to His perfection....Hence, God rested from His perfect, sinless creation...both men and all that He created....So the Sabbath, at creation, pointed to God's perfection creation. He rested because His work was perfect. Adam and Eve agreed and thus rested too...until...

Rob, provide a Bible quote (or SOP if you are so inclined today) stating clearly that the Sabbath lost its significance after the Fall.

Because it pointed to perfection....God, the creator, rested not because He was tired, but because His work was finished...it was perfect...it was sinless....Hence, the day pointed to something holy....

No, we must go back to Genesis...then you'll see it....

"REMEMBER the Sabbath.... BECAUSE THE LORD MADE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH..." Ex. 20: 8/

If that is not a memorial, show what is.

Why are we to remember the Sabbath? Because the Lord made the earth.... That is a memorial as plain as the nose on your face.

Show me in the Bible where it's no longer Holy.

Is creation perfect now? Is mankind sinful or perfect? Is the world marred with sin and pollution...or is it perfect? Is God still resting in His perfect and finished work of creation...or is He in the process of creating a new heaven and a new earth..?

Go to Genesis...where it all began....Otherwise, you'll screw up...

OK, make your best case. If it's biblical and supported by a clear "thus-saith-the Lord," I'll accept it.

But none of the above is reason to stop keeping the Sabbath. The Sabbath is also a reminder of who God is, and God will always be the Creator. So as long as God is the Creator, the Sabbath will be significant and holy. It will be holy throughout eternity. We will never stop keeping the Sabbath. See Hebrews 4 and Isaiah 66.

Remember guys...the Sabbath is a sign...a symbol...that points to a truth....The sabbath isn't the truth...it points to truth, and that truth is that as a symbol it points to God's perfect work of creation....If we are to rest because God rested, we better know why....I can't rest because God is not resting for the creation is no longer perfect...It [mankind & the world] is fallen, therefore my Sabbath keeping would be a lie....God is working to repair the damage after the fall...hence the Sabbath of creation has lost it's significance.

Are you saying then that all days of the week are alike today-- all common work days-- and that God does not care if anyone rests or "keeps" the Sabbath?

If that is true, what is going to make the difference in the future, prior to Christ's Second Coming, at which time the world will still be very imperfect?

Why would the Sabbath suddenly take on significance again at that time, when there is still sin, and before the damage is repaired? If it is a lie now to keep the Sabbath, won't it be a lie in the near future, just before the Lord's return?
