What you say here flies in the face of the clear facts of history. Virtually all historians are in agreement on this. The Bishop of Rome took over the place vacated by the Emperor of Rome. This is a well established fact of history. Have you ever read Gibbon's history of Rome? Or a book called, "The Two Babylonians"? Also check out H.G. Wells' History of the World.

The Bible shows us that the little-horn power is a "religio-political" power. Are you unaware of this?

1. Once again you cite uninspired authors to support your view. The Bible does not support your view!

2. The Bible does not support that the LITTLE HORN is a "religio-political" power. The Bible does not say that!

...2. The last time I checked historians were not Bible interpreters.

No one is using them as Bible interpreters. What historians are good at is telling us what happened in history.

The fact is the Roman Empire and the Papacy are two different entities period!

There's so much evidence for this that it's not even funny.

Are you familar with the way the papacy developed?

Tell us what was going on about 533-538 AD in Rome.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

There is not a scintilla of evidence in Daniel chapter two that it is talking about the Second Coming! Such a notion is only a preconceived idea that must come from a source outside of the Bible!

God's leading is a oneness of the opposites of God being in complete control and allowing for human free will. Usually we as people when we come to a set of opposites, instead of making a oneness out of them if possible, we tend to embrace the one and reject the other.

Technically Daniel 2 is four KINGS!!!!!! I know some commentaries want to leave room for the word to be translated Kingdoms, but they are only reading back into the texts assumptions about Daniel 2. No place else in the Bible or ancient world does the word used in Daniel 2 mean kingdoms, It always is a specific term for only individual kings.

Deuteronomy 4 gives two possible histories for Israel, one if they were faithful and one if they were unfaithful. There have in recent years been more studies by scholars of different faiths on this topic in this but here is an excellent article in the SDA Bible commentary that is a nice summery of what these newer and more scholarly studies are finding; The Role of Israel in Old Testament Prophecy. If they were unfaithful they would get different curses finally ending in exile and in the last days (i.e. the exile) if they were to call on God God would rescue them. This is fleshed out by other prophets but in a nutshell, in the Old Testament the idea of the exile gave to the Hebrew boys and girls the same pictures that the Sunday Law gives to the typical Adventist boys and girls. They were expecting the exile to end in a second great exodus lead by the Messiah.

Daniel 2 held to this eschatology. There were to be the 4 KINGS, and the book of Daniel mentions 4 kings: Nebuccadnezzar, Belshazar, Darius, and Cyrus; After Cyrus things were to get weak and fall apart and the Messiah be the final emperor.

The condition was that God's people were to share with their neighbors their unfaithfulness and God's faithfulness and share the gospel with their neighbors in exile. As everyone went home after the exile the gospel would spread, people would make choices and either choose for or against the Messiah and the Messiah would end up setting up his reign.

The condition was not met, and by analogy the prophecies went to the kingdoms, and with the possibility that at the end of another 70 weeks of years (the reflection of the 70 weeks of years from David to the end of the exile) where the messiah would come and could have set up the kingdom. Some of what was predicted was fulfilled, other parts need to be fulfilled through analogy.

Yes,Miz3 you see the Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece and Rome, but you have ignored the feet of iron and clay, toes of iron and clay, the attempt for the toes to join together. You take part of the truth and use it against the rest of the truth. But there are many Biblical principles you are missing, just as Daniel 2 can expand from the 4 kings, expand Deuteronomy 4 from the exile to beyond, so the prophecies of Daniel can spread beyond the time of Christ.

Whatever!

Is this your own thought or is this current SDA theology?

Don't forget, when Daniel 2 was given, it was early in the exile. There was the eschatology of Deuteronomy 4. The Hebrews could have shared their God with their neighbors, thus spreading the gospel to the world and 70 years later the messiah could have come to lead the second great exodus home. We have to be careful as we study the 2 questions "What did it mean originally" and "What does it mean to us" Cheddar, you are on the one hand starting to read more carefully than most people do. But you don't yet know how to deal with this information. Keep studying and becareful not to let your partial truth take you off on a tangent. Had the gospel been spread Jesus would have come within the 70 years and at the time of the dream of Daniel 2 it was not that far fetched for Nebuccadnezar to possibly still be alive about 70 years later. (also in this dream was a criticism that Nebucchanezzar needed conversion or else he would be destoyed by the messiah, which of course changed when he was converted). Also, by analogy, when Jesus does come he will destroy all the other metals as they represent this world's empires, and there will not be any more of this worlds empires when the rock takes over and creates a new earth and the old one passes away.

That particular time frame, in William Millers chart, I had a problem with. I really began to doubt his calculations on where to place the rise of the Papacy. Which was leading to questions like, what else he might be wrong on. It was a gradual move as Rome slowly declined. A lot of political stuff going on at that time, as people chose sides and staked out their positions. But in the end, I worked it out and concluded Miller's numbers and history were accurate.

Just part of the learning curve in building a foundation.

Yes, there are places where he was wrong, but he first of all was not using his imagination but was using the best materials and the best studies of his time in history, this always keeps us on the right track if we are willing to ride the train down the track and not set up camp at the place where he fell. But what is amazing is how much he has right. We no longer agree with how he found the start of the 70 weeks of years, but guess what archaeology discovered??? That he got the exact year!!! We keep finding these things. He was correct on some points that we would not expect considering the time in history he lived in.

It is pretty clear! Whether you accept it is up to you!

Jesus was first a prophet and teacher.

Next Jesus was the Lamb of God that bears the sins of the world and is nailed to the cross as a sacrifice.

After that Christ became our High Priest, and this is what He still is today.

Some day soon Christ will lay off His High Priestly garment and put on His kingly robes and His crown, and then He will come as King of Kings and as Judge. He will then set up His visible kingdom.

Right now Jesus' kingdom is invisisible, and He rules only as people accept His laws and allow Him to rule in their hearts by faith. That is different from Christ ruling the nations with a rod of iron and His kingdom smashing the nations of the earth. That hasn't yet occurred.

1. Because God and Jesus Christ are so infinitely great Jesus Christ is many things at many times as well as many things at the SAME TIME!

Jesus Christ has always been the Prophet, the Teacher, the Lamb of God, the High Priest, and the King of Kings all at the same time!

Jesus Christ is not a "sequential" this or that! The Bible never teaches that. When Israel wanted a "king" they were "rejecting Jesus Christ as their King"! Read it in Scripture. God actually told this to Samuel the Prophet of God! So Jesus has always been the King! Thus, Jesus Christ was a King before what you think was His Priestly self!

You keep wanting to humanize the Deity! Things happen to us in "sequential" order. However, God is not "sequential"! To God He is and Always is! That is FACT! THAT IS BIBLICAL FACT!

2. God's Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom and it is NOT INVISIBLE! If you are willing to know God as it is your privilege to know God then you will see the Kingdom of Heaven!

However to the "Blind" they will never see the Kingdom of Heaven even if the Kingdom of Heaven is right in front of them! To the spiritually blind the Kingdom of Heaven is "invisible"!

3. "Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;

they are regarded as dust on the scales;

he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.

16 Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires,

nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.

17 Before him all the nations are as nothing;

they are regarded by him as worthless

and less than nothing."

Isaiah 40:15-17.

"Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

Has it not been told you from the beginning?

Have you not understood since the earth was founded?

22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,

and its people are like grasshoppers.

He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,

and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

23 He brings princes to naught

and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

24 No sooner are they planted,

no sooner are they sown,

no sooner do they take root in the ground,

than he blows on them and they wither,

and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff."

Isaiah 40:21-24.

"At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.

His dominion is an eternal dominion;

his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

35 All the peoples of the earth

are regarded as nothing.

He does as he pleases

with the powers of heaven

and the peoples of the earth.

No one can hold back his hand

or say to him: “What have you done?"

Daniel 4:34-35.

I believe these Scriptures are saying different in regard as to whether Jesus Christ(God) is ruling with an "iron rod and smashing all the kingdoms". These Scriptures are saying entirely different FACT then the assertions you wrote above!

Notice how Isaiah asks "have you not heard", "do you not know", "has it not been told to you from THE BEGINNING"!

I ask you John317 have you not heard, have you not known, has it not been told you?

1. That Jesus Christ (God) rules the whole universe! Isaiah 40:22.

2. That Jesus Christ (God) brings "princes to naught" and "reduces rulers to nothing"!

That sounds to me like ruling with a Rod of Iron!

Isaiah 40:23-24.

3. Daniel chapter 4 states that Jesus Christ's (God's) Kingdom is an ETERNAL (as in never ending) KINGDOM! I believe it also says, "He does as He please"! (sounds ROD OF IRONISH TO ME!). Also doesn't look very invisible to me!

FROM YOUR POST IT APPEARS THAT YOU HAVE NOT KNOWN, AND HAVE NOT HEARD, AND HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD!

Now you know! Now you have heard! Now you have been told!

All four kingdoms will be destroyed and replaced by the kingdom of God at the second coming. The fourth kingdom, including the papal kingdom, is a composite of all four of those kingdoms. Also, don't forget that the peoples who made up those four kingdoms are still in existence, even though the first three no longer have an empire. The primary idea of Daniel 2 is that all human kindgoms will be destroyed at the second coming of Christ, and that is exactly what we see in Matt. 24, 1 & 2 Thess., and Revelation.

It sounds like you are asserting that no Babylonian, no Media-Persian, Grecian, (pagan) Roman, (papal) Roman peoples will be saved. That all these people will be destroyed so that none are existent, then and only then will the "prophecy of Daniel" be fulfilled?

Sounds unBiblical to me?

Pretty self explanatory - Nebuchadnezzar was dead at the 1st coming and really dead at the 2nd coming.

Nebuchadnezzar was the head of gold because he was the KING of Babylon. That's why the phrase right after says "and after THEE shall arise ANOTHER kingDOM".

The king of a nation is the "representative" of a kingdom. Daniel was being polite to King Nebuchadnezzar, and wanted to make him feel good. Had Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar "Oh king, your kingdom is this head of gold", it would have not sounded as appealing to him. When he said "THOU" art this head of gold, "thou" simply is used because King Nebuchadnezzar is presently in office as the representing figure of his kingdom.

In Daniel 7 and 8, horns are represented both as "kings" and "kingdoms" (same difference, just different ways to express it). See Daniel 7:24 and compare with Daniel 8:22. The same with the beasts. In Daniel 7:17, the four beasts are "four kings". And verse 23 says that the "fourth beast shall be the FOURTH kingdom".

Hence, these expressions are INTERCHANGEABLE.

So once again, you committed foul play in getting "hung up" on this terminology. It is downright ridiculous and a waste of time.

Quote:
Maybe Nebuchadnezzar is a type of Satan (Isa. 14) and he's the head of gold and the rest of the image represents the kingdom he will establish in the last days. That would clearly fit with the whole image being destroyed at the 2nd coming.

Satan is represented as the king of Babylon because Satan was the founder of the Hermetic Dragon. The entire Babylonian system originates from Satan. Babylon is Satan's kingdom. Just like Jesus was king of Israel, yet there was still a physical king (Solomon and David) of Israel, likewise Satan is the king of Babylon, yet there are physical kings of Babylon (like Belshazzar, etc.).

Is this so difficult to understand? *WHEWWW!!*

I'm sorry if I sound irritated, but I must confess that I find it bewildering that some of these objections keep being raised. If we exercise our brains a little, we can conceptualize the issues here a little better.

Quote:
Why is it that so many who are so loyal to Sister White's writings never talk about her vision of Satan's impersonation in the last days? This is the greatest deception of all time! and so much more significant than anything the RCC has done or ever will do.

The RCC will be a major player in the last days - any Sunday legislation that comes about they will definitely be at the forefront of but they are only a puppet while Satan is the puppet master.

I agree 100%. And yes, Walter Veith talks about this extensively. The Maitreya (the coming Cosmic Christ) has reported through his forerunner, Benjamin Creme, that he will take the crown of St. Peter.

There has been LOTS of "talk" about this subject. Satan will be the "full materialization", and "physical manifestation" of the "man of sin" in the last days. Lucifer will crown himself Pope, in the Vatican, and will perform wondrous miracles before the eyes of all the people!

Oh how easy then it will be for "all the world to wonder after the beast!"

NOT BIBLICAL!

Just more uninspired opinions from some "big brains" who think they have figured out what others are incapable of!

Daniel says nothing, nada, zilch, zero, about the "ten toes" being anything. The toes are part and parcel of the iron legs! Look again at Daniel chapter 2! The Bible says nothing about the "toes" being separate in any way shape or form from the legs which of course is the Roman Empire!

"After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay."

Daniel 2:39-43.

You see the Bible clearly states that the 10 toes are part of the leg kingdom. They are NOT A DIFFERENT KINGDOM.

THEY ARE THE SAME KINGDOM!

The Bible says nothing about the "toes" coming after the legs!

You are drinking too much SDA propaganda!

Read exactly what the Bible says without adding anything to what it actually says. I even wrote out the text for you!

THE LEGS, THE FEET, AND THE TOES ARE ALL THE SAME KINGDOM!

This kingdom came before Jesus Christ, during the Life of Jesus Christ, and some time after Jesus Christ!

2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom." (Daniel 2:43,44)

The antecedent to "in the days of these kings" is the "iron mixed with miry clay".

Therefore, "these kings" are more directly referring to the feet and the toes mixed with iron and clay.

Jesus' first coming was before the Roman Empire was divided.

Case closed. :)

P.S. Also, the fact that Daniel says "thou art this head of gold, and after thee shall arise another kingdom" is proof that the gold, silver, bronze, iron, etc. are kingdoms that rule in sequential order.

If you don't care about them then why do you keep asking me about them??? You ask me, I answer and you get upset that I answer your question. How about you, are you inspired? If not then maybe we should follow your advice and not read your posts...

All truth comes from God. Prophets are raised for specific jobs. There are two types of inspiration. Direct inspiration, where they get the snap shots of important things to tell us, and indirect inspiration where they study what is out there to come to truth. For God so loved the world. God is working with us. God respects the truth we know and our studying for more truth and sharing what we discover. We are going to grow, make mistakes and continue to grow. Jesus loved to ask his disciples questions. When Jesus asked "Who do you say that I am?" and "Who do others say that I am" and Peter (who tended to say what the current trend of discussion was among the disciples) "You are the Christ..." Jesus said that he was blessed because flesh and blood did not reveal it to them, but the spirit. Jesus is saying that he did not grab the disciples by the button hole and say "Look, this is what you are to believe!" but Jesus let the disciples look at the evidence, talk and discuss among themselves and thus the Holy Spirit lead them to this conclusion.

You have a tendency to want to grab us by the button hole and tell us what we are to believe. When we disagree you want to know if our sources is our faulty thinking, Adventist propaganda, or if it is a wide range of scholarly study from different faiths, well they are not inspired, thus leaving only your words as having any authority.

So, returning your questions to you; are you inspired? If you are then why are you so against the teaching methods of Jesus?

This means your views of the Bible and what the Bible says comes from these "pagan" sources.

The only view that actually counts is what the Bible says it means about itself. In other words "What the Bible actually says".

NOT WHAT SOME SO AND SO SAYS AT SOME UNIVERSITY, OR SOME LECTURE, OR WHAT THEY WROTE IN A BOOK, OR WHAT THEY STUDIED IN HISTORY, ARCHEOLOGY, LINGUISTICS, ETC. ETC.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS STATED IN 1CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 2 VERSES 6-16! IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF TRUTH!
