Go back through the posts and my exchange with "cheddar" on this very question! My answer is there!

No it's not! And if you think it is, then you're more confused than I thought you were. (hardly possible)

You're trying to say that a prophecy that was reserved specifically for the time of the end was fulfilled back in Jesus' day.

NEWS FLASH!!! That was not the end, nor was it the time of the end. Not to mention the fact that the nations have not been smashed, nor are they being ruled over with a rod of iron.

Do some studying and see where the disciples were disapointed because they thought that very prophecy would be fulfilled in Jesus' day, but it wasn't. They wanted Jesus to smash the nations and rule with a rod of iron, but He didn't.

Pray for understanding m3. A 3rd grader could see the holes in your reasoning, and that you are out in left field without a clue.

Tell it like it is RLH!

That was quite an insightful response. Which would boil down to one fact alone: miz3 hasn't learned from the mistake of the Disciples and the Jewish leaders: That the Messiah came to "deliver them from their physical enemies, and rule over the nations with a rod of iron".

Miz3 would rather go back to this age of ignorance than to face the music about the times we live.

Be nice now RLH (Ha ha). These threads show that most of us don't agree with each other, so it would be fine just to establish you opinion by evidence instead of making fun of the messenger like the Jewish leaders did to God's messenger, Jesus Christ. After all, how does one know that he has not been deceived?

As to the 70 X 7, I find it interesting in what Jesus told Peter about forgivness, in that it was this same number. Why didn't Jesus just tell Peter if someone wanted to be foregiven just foregive them no matter how many times they ask?

Well, if we go by looking at you as the example, then we would have to assume that one cannot know. lol

Wow, that's not very comforting as I firmly believe I am being lead by the Holy Spirit.

RLH,

I quote Scripture, but you only write venom!

It is apparent that you have NO SCRIPTURE supporting your erroneous theory because it does not exist!

Daniel chapter four verses thirty-four and thirty-five indeed support what I have been saying. Daniel chapter four also makes you theory debunked!

That's not a crocodial, that was a crocodile!

Do you know why it is spelled crocodial at the site?

Two different Bible Versions. One says kingdoms, the other says kings. Many translations use the word "kings" and make a note that these represent their respective "kingdoms". Thus, in this case the context is clearly about kingdoms and/or the kings representing the four kingdoms of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome!

SO DON'T YOU ACCUSE ME OF CHANGING THE WORD OF GOD! I DID NO SUCH THING! I QUOTED THE BIBLE DIRECTLY AND ACCURATELY!

1. In those days the king was the kingdom.

2. The context of the Book of Daniel clearly is referring to the four kingdoms of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome!

3. The context of Daniel chapter seven also refers to the kingdoms Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome!

4. The Bible never, ever says that it corrects Itself! You are imposing a behavior that is not part of the Bible!

CONCLUSION:

Your tirade is wrong and unwarranted! In fact it is you who constantly twists and contorts the Word of God. In your tirade you continue to do this and thus your conclusions are pure nonsense!

If you would be so kind to reread your previous postings and your unwarranted brashness, you might see a glimpse of impatience and even hostility.

If you should choose to believe a faulty translation and cling to their error as if it were your own even when it was pointed out to you patiently and without malice, that the translators rendered the text as they understood it rather than in the way that Daniel wrote it, that is your choice.

I prayed for you many times today and even now.

1) It is true that kings represent their kingdom, but it is not an either or presentation. It is both. The prophecy in Daniel 2 was applicable to King Nebuchadnezzar and his dynasty as much as it was to the 4 great world kingdoms. But Daniel 7:17 clearly states that the KINGS are the focus of the endtime interpretation not the KINGDOMS.

2) when the book of Daniel is unsealed in the endtime, it is clearly about the 4 kings from the earth that are alive when Christ comes. The kingdoms are a secondary application that foreshadow the final complete endtime meaning.

3) The context of Daniel 7 goes right to the destruction of the 4th beast with burning flames when the kings from the earth are destroyed by the brightness of Christ's Glory at His appearing.

4)truth is progressive. Blood sacrifices were offered from Adam to the time of Jesus. But it changed when the LAMB of God offered Himself. The Jews were God's chosen people until they rejected Jesus and He said that their house was left unto them desolate.

Thus when one refuses to follow truth and explains away every ray of light that Heaven sends they remain in their error. the Jews continued offering useless sacrifices for 30-years after Jesus put an end to sacrificing animals. The Jews still thought that they were God's people after Christ left them to their desolate Temple and turned to the Gentiles with the message of Christianity.

Why should you be different than those who came before you that were clinging to partial truths and vain knowledge?

I give you up to Satan for a season. Perhaps then you will be able to see the light as it truly is?

hch and Miz3, you both have valid points. We can be a bit flexable with each other in our discussion of kings and kingdoms. We know that by chapter 8 the principles are applied to kingdoms, and that therefore scholars generally read the idea of kingdoms back into Daniel 2. I have come across word studies how in Daniel 2, except for reading Daniel 8 back into the text, the word for "king" in all the other discovered references to this word is only applied in the ancient world for individual kings.

Here again is the dicomity of what COULD have happened, and what DID happen. What the prophecy MEANT to young Daniel at the start of the Babylon Captivity and what it MEANS to us living after the Babylon exile.

Now I do not know if it is the same word in Daniel 7. I know that Daniel 7 is a transitional chapter that still says the the Hebrews have time to fulfill the conditions and that the four beasts can again be the 4 individual kings, but that it is also opening the door to the reapplication by analogy to kingdoms.

Yes, there is a word there that in all it's occurences in the ancient world meant ONLY individual kings. Yet we find the fulfillment of the Prophecy to be in Kingdoms.

Keep on Studying. ...

Often when the prophetic trail is lost (even temporarily) there is a tendency to spiritualize away truth.

When Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar "Thou art this head of gold" Daniel's words "were of consequence to him."

His dynasty began with him as the head of gold and ended with Nabonidus and Belshazzar sharing rulership of the kingdom as iron mingled with clay.

the idol in Daniel 2 also fitly depicts the deterioration of religion and morality.

And Daniel 2 aligns with the great world empires from Babylon to Rome.

But all these possibilities that are historically verifiable, are not the endtime meaning.

why?

The great kingdoms, were know in the 2nd century AD 1500-years before the meaning of Daniel was unsealed. So the kingdoms that sealed the authenticity of Daniel were not the meaning that was "shut-up" "closed-up" and sealed until the time of the end (1798 and beyond). Thus to prematurely pick the kingdom model as the final meaning is to cast a shadow over the other meanings that are equally valid.

Thus to understand how the prophecy could have been fulfilled differently had the response of the participants been different should by no means trump the fact that the prophecy took into account how those of whom it was speaking would interact with history and the prophecy gives a valid picture of not only what could have been BUT what actually was and is to be.

When Daniel 7:17 is understood to be endtime kings from the earth, Daniel 7:23 is then the 4th earth king... And Daniel 8 expands and explains something about these individual KINGS.

Gabriel makes it very clear that he is explaining the 2300-years to Daniel in chpt 8. Thus when Gabriel states " Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be." Gabriel is not revealing truths about Babylon and Medo-Persia that come before the 2300-years began or at their beginning; Gabriel is making known "what shall be in the last end" which is to say when the 2300-years are ending in 1798, 1844, and beyond.

That being true, Gabriel is citing Medo-Persia and Grecia (powers present at the beginning of the 2300-years)to foreshadow kings that are present after the end of the 2300-years. The horns in Daniel 8 are the 4 kings from the earth identified in Daniel 7:17. The last one is in power now and the time of trouble spoken by Daniel the prophet has begun.

So there are but a few months to unlearn some of the stuff that has been thought as so important and to learn what we really need to know to be ready for Jesus.

..."At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.

Daniel 4:34-35...

Did you also notice:

1. The phrase "end of that time" certainly was not talking about events yet to come! So the phrase "end of time" can certainly mean the end of that particular period of time and does not have to mean the Second Coming!

That phrase "at the end of that time" is best translated as "at the end of that period," or "at the end of the days." The Hebrew uses the word Yomayya, "the days."

The period in view here is that of the "seven times" mentioned in verses 16 and 23 of Daniel 4. It isn't the same phrase as occurs in "the end of time" or "the time of the end." Besides, the context shows he's talking about a particular period of time that finished during Nebuchadnezar's life. So while it's true that this is the meaning of Daniel 4: 34, it is not the meaning of Daniel 8: 17 or 8: 26.

There the angel clearly states that the vision of the 2300 evening-mornings is "for the time of the end." And in 8: 26, the angel tells Daniel that the vision of the evening-mornings is to be sealed up because "it refers to many days from now." This can only mean that it's not talking about a literal 2300 days, since that only adds up to about 6 years.

The fact that it was sealed up and refers to many days [years] from now shows that it is 2300 literal years. No wonder Daniel fainted and was sick. He couldn't fathom such a time period when he knew God had promised through Jeremiah that Israel was about to be sent back to Jerusalem. See Daniel 8: 27 to 9: 6.

It appeared to Daniel that God was going back on his promises because of the sins of the peoploe. So Daniel began to pray earnestly, confessing his sins and the sins of his people. At this time the angel Gabriel comes to explain the earlier vision to Daniel. He tells Daniel when the vision will begin.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Isn't it equally as likely that Daniel was pleading with God to lessen the 70 years of Jeremiah? Perhaps he was afraid he wouldn't live that 70 years to see the temple rebuilt? I'm having trouble seeing evidence that God decided to explain the 2300 evenings and mornings over 10 years later. go easy on me as i'm just starting to study Daniel bwink

Primevile,

Daniel thought that God was extending the 70 year captivity to 2300 years. That's why Daniel fainted in horror. Imagine the pain he was going through.

So at the beginning in Chapter 9, he goes back to studying the 70 years. But the angel takes him away from that says... "uh uh uh... come back here... we're going to continue on those 2300 I was referring to". :)
