LoneRanger Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Welcome, Woody. Actually MT has the last word - he let me join. Are you joining as a heretic or an infidel, or another category? Quote
JoeMo Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Quote: Are you joining as a heretic or an infidel, or another category? Dang - only 4 members and we're already forming a beaurocracy. Are their different dues for different levels of membership? If so, I may change from an infidel to something else - whatever is cheapest. Only seven more members and we can have our own football team! Maybe join a church league? Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 20, 2013 Members Posted February 20, 2013 We are all heretic's in one way or another. One one has an exclusive to that. :) Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
BobRyan Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Is this thread and your post, not about what EGW had to say? So all I'm saying is that to find that she actually said that, we would've had to read her writings? Correct? Now let me ask a question? Was Amos a Prophet? And did he not also claim not to be one? . Good points raised there. But as noted on that "other" thread - Ellen White frankly states that her ministry "included that of a prophet" but that it goes far beyond that - and that she has no problem with those who refer to her ministry as that of a prophet. Sometimes people looking to get out of this or that - will quote a tiny snippet of her statement - to the exclusion of the full meaning. But in this case I provide the bigger picture on that thread - from her own statements on the subject of her role as an inspired prophet of God. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." M. T. Cross Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Ummmm........ thats great, and we can get into that after - but them pancakes are smokin and need to be flipped. I am NOT putting this syrup on burned ones. Quote

Oh boy...that just guaranteed this thread will remain alive for many more months. Food attracts like no other, and now we have to decide if EGW's writing on football has football as a symbol for hockey as well... Blessings! and Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. I think we should include all legitimate sports (that leaves out professional wrestling and midget bowling); also legitimate foods (that leaves out Twinkies and Sweet Tarts). EC - you may have to explain some of the rules of hockey to me. I watch the Avs play; but I don't "get" some of the rules. Quote
Woody Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Have we actually developed a 'Sub Club'? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
JoeMo Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Maybe we should request our own Forum Topic where people have to be invited to join. I've always wanted to join an exclusive club where everyone thinks exactly like I do. Hockey? Isn't that the game where a bunch of guys get in a big ring, and beat on each other with long sticks? That's probably ok, as long as they don't get too overly aggressive with it. Quote
Guest Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 It can't be as bad as NFL Football, where they take steroids. I wonder if EGW knew about Hockey? Quote

Woody Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 It can't be as bad as NFL Football, where they take steroids. I wonder if EGW knew about Hockey? I have to assume that God knew and would have mentioned it if it was important. Since He mentioned to EGW the evils of chess and checkers - I have to assume He would have included Hockey. Sounds like the same "Christian spirit" already addressed by God's message to one of his prophets -- and quoted on this thread some place recently. Gal 6 says "God is not mocked" - that is food for thought and all of us do well to read it with care. Ezek 9 is also a wonderful text telling us that those with access to a lot of direct messages from God - are held to a slightly higher level of accountability. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." True - but as James 2 points out - once you embrace one level of deviation on that point - you may have a tendency to embrace them all. In Galatians 5 - Paul insists that "a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough". Says the same thing in 1Cor 5 as it turns out. However I still maintain that apart from this thread and the people who have stopped by and allowed themselves to become informed on this subject - a lot of people simply don't know about the warning God has given. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." JoeMo Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks for the righteous admonition, Bob. Can we take that as a "No" on you joining the Club? Quote
